Re; McLeish . How can they let Friedel, Reo-Coker, Carew etc (over 10 players in total) go. Sell Young and Downing for around £40million and still have to reduce the wage bill. The players they let go were the biggest earners. Go check out the squad list.

There is money there; they just don’t want to pay over the odds.

what about Huntelaar and Farfan?

They've been paid well over the odds, so they can pay over the odds themselves.

Sounds familiar.

I think this is the case for quite a few clubs at the moment. It's why I expect an orgy of transfer activity in the last few days of the window when everyone suddenly actually has to lower prices/pay a bit more.

This,

I think this transfer window will be mental in the last week. I can see alot of deals happening and happening quiet quickly.

I reckon one or two ITKs could be heading for a breakdown if that happens, plus the SSN ticker tape will catch fire!

McCleish justified that with the bent signing taking up the other part of the 40m... fair enough ... Have you heard anything on the EA deal?

my maths is not the greatest but losing 5 top earners, who were on a minimum of £30k saves around £10million a year. then the others who went and the money for the transfer money.

i wont comment on adebayor. not my information and not suppose to comment on others.

I think if your hearing different things your fine to post it, Just dont start with "this ITK is a dick this is whats really happening!" That wouldn't go down to well! Also if its bad news then I'm not interested!

Villa at the end of last season.

Net debt £110m
Income £90m
Wage bill £80m

I think they needed to reduce there wages.

Fair enough I personally hope they are still interested in Hutton can't see who else would take him?

I’ve not posted anything because things have not really changed. I have been stalking the site and reading some of the stuff though.

I was at Villa Monday watching a SkySportsNews waiting to see if there was any truth in the Keane to LA rumours. People there couldn’t even be bothered to ring agent to see if any truth. Disappointed in his agent- he was pushing a deal and a courtesy call would have been nice. Nobody had a clue LA was on the cards and if it was then it was well hidden.

Villa have not been back with an individual bid for Hutton and WILL NOT go back. Unless Tottenham call first the deal is off.

Forgive me, but I didn't get all that. What was this about.

Villa really should have some money but in writing off at least 10m worth of talent when releasing all those players earlier in the summer, I read that as financial desperation. The kind of financial desperation that sets in when you toss away the chance of a multi-million pound shirt deal in favour of promoting an obscure charity.

I interpret that as: Villa had shown an interest in Keane when the Irishman's agent was hawking him around. But when LA Galaxy deal become available, the agent didn't at least phone Villa to see if they would improve upon it. Which is unusual/poor form.

McLeish isn't going to say I've got £20m ready to spend, Levy would take him to the cleaners.
