Both Harry and Ledley have said that it has caused problems, and injuries will hardly have helped. Four years ago we had the squad unsettled by the board's spending the close season negotiating to replace Jol and Berbatov sulking because we hadn't let him go to United, and it showed in brittle performances where we threw games away after being completely on top (away to Fulham springs to mind).

You seem a hell of a lot more willing to accept that as an excuse for Redknapp than you were Ramos at the time.

Don't talk about that game. I was absolutley livid afterwards. I had to go out, buy a cat, register it, and bring it back to the house, just so I could kick it.

He was referring to Jol.. You do have a point, but Ramos was shocking, if Redknapp does as bad as he did then I doubt any would be protecting him. Mind your bias against Redknapp is not exactly the most well hidden.

A reason to be pessimistic. Wolves have started the season excellently.

However, we have Adebayor, and Parker, and hopefully will regroup after the internationals. I don't care if we nick it one nil, we must get some points on the board.

The thing that we seemed to have lost so far is the spirit in our ranks.

The last two seasons we have should excellent spirit and resolve and often turned defeats in to draws and draws into wins (I believe we set the record for points gained from losing positions last season)

In our first two games this season we have actually been playing ok until we conceded the first goal in each game at which point we have pretty much collapsed and each time could have lost by cricket scores once the first goal went in had it not been for Friedel in goal.

It could be that the whole MOdric affair has caused this, or at least contributed to it (especially as he refused to play the first game and asked not to play the second) hopefully now the window has slammed shut and his immediate future is no longer in the air this will settle down and we will see a reuniting of our squads spirit.

Wolves is a very big game for us, if Adebayor and Parker can come in and have big debuts and hit the ground running and Modric can return to his best form then I think the bad start will instantly be behind us and we will kick on... lose or draw (and stay rock bottom) and we may end up losing further moral and really losing ground on those around us.

I believe what we we are seeing is a continuation of the loss of morale we suffered last season, a slump which has now been exacerbated by the Modric shenanigans. I expect it will rumble on and I think Redknapp's in a very difficult position because of it and has my sympathy.

I also believe that the uncertainty surrounding Redknapp's future is now causing us problems. I am worried by the prolonged poor run of form of a number of players. I believe that we have a number of unhappy players on our books and it looks to me as though the players have stopped responding to the manager's methods. I think more than a couple are shortchanging the fans with a basic lack of effort and a sullen attitude.

In theory, I can see how the addition of Parker and Abebayor should improve us, as would a change to a 4-2-3-1 system (although there's no guarantee that Redknapp will adopt it) but I don't know that that will be enough to compensate for the distinct possibility of this Modric saga dragging on and the uncertainty over the manager's future.

Yes we are COYS but that hasn't helped much in the last couple of seasons. We have were dreadful against them at home 09/10 and we didn't really turn up until the last 20 minutes last season. They have had a good start and are full of confidence. I for one am a bit concerned but will have a good day up there anyway.

Anyone else think that the big reason that we have fallen off so badly in the latter stages of the first 2 games is a lack of fitness ? Both Manchester teams seemed much fitter than us. Modric saga or not that is simply unacceptable.

We simply cannot let this happen with the Liverpool home game coming up. It is vitally important that we win against Wolves.

I thought our fitness levels for the first six weeks or so of last season were unacceptable. It's a little bit harder to tell this season because there are a number of things not quite right. I would also question why we seem to pick up more groin injuries than everyone else.

We will know within the first 6 games of the season whether we are legitimate threat for a 4th place finish. If Redknapp has a shocking run of games (losses to Liverpool/Arsenal and draws or worse to Wigan/Wolves, then I think he'll either resign or be sacked after the NLD).

We must get 4 points from our next two games, which is going to be very tough, since Wolves beat United, City, and Chelsea at home last season, and are on good form currently. If we draw at Molineux and then lose to Liverpool, we'll likely be trailing the Bindippers by 12 points by mid-September. That's too much to ask a squad to make up that is loaded with injuries, has one really quality striker, and whose star player has been begging to move on from the club.

I think there are two keys to the game. The first is the central defense. I thought buying Cahill was a necessity, even at the inflated price (you can't get quality like him at CB for any less than 15 million, anyhow, and he likely won't come to us in January). We'll have to make due with what we have, so Dawson and Kaboul need to step up and stop Wolves scrappy attack.

The second is Adebayor. He hasn't played a competitive game of football in months. He's a very good striker when on form, but I fear many are placing unrealistic expectations upon him (20+ goals, etc). He'll take some time getting used to the players around him, and his fitness probably won't be there yet. We really need Bale to augment him in attack and chip in a goal, if possible.

It's imperative we score first against Wolves. If we fall behind there, with all the tension the team is carrying, we're in deep shit.

If we can do better against the 'weaker' teams or 'lower' teams or teams with less 'pedigree' or less 'history and tradition' or less 'pretensions' than us, call it what you will, then we will do better than beating our rivals for top six.

That's what I take from the original point.

It's less satisfying but better for our points total in the end.

Last year we had some tremendous performances, fantastic results but couldn't seem to raise ourselves for the bread and butter games.

Now in some ways I would rather beat Milan in the San Sero than Wolves away but it's the Premiership that is the key to everything .

as long as parker plays in CM we'll be ok. Daws and Kaboul will be much more secure with parker in front of them, rather than niko and a half hearted luka

Not confident. CM is still a massive worry. An on form Parker could change that though.
