Twenty goal a season striker I want replaced?

We're exactly where we deserve to be and it has nothing to do with brinksmanship.

And, if it did, it wouldn't only be down to Levy playing brinksmanship, because the whole negotiation thing is a two way dance.

I wanted to stop reading after the bold. It can still be considered a disaster?

Players are still here because it's not Football Manager. We can't shift everyone we want to shift. We got rid of a lot of deadwood and bought wisely, we let the manager have his way and look at where it's got us. Disaster? GDS is still here against our wishes. Ade is only currently a short term fix unless that crystal ball of yours is working again. Not a bad short term fix, by the way.

We should always look to improve - we did it over the summer - and I'm sure if we can do it now and 2+2=4 we'll do it again. We shouldn't spend for the sake of spending, we shouldn't settle for second best, we shouldn't break the fundamentals of the club that have got us where we are and have pointed us - finally! - in the right direction.

And, lastly, the biggest test for us right now is not even adding to the squad. It's keeping it together.

I was being as sarcastic as you.

Everyone has a different opinion, some people consider it a disaster some people dont.

I consider it as a glass half empty transfer window, where as someone else like you sees it as a glass half full.

He was offered to us for so little because they didn't have a squad number for him, and had tried to sell him to one of the German clubs but they said no. So because there was only a few hours left they had to drop the price. We may have been interested but it was still lucky imo :snooty:

Still makes me chuckle that the Shite turned him down for £10M. They're stuck with Banjo Fwank, while we have Rafa.

He was a bargain and yeah we got lucky at the last minute.

I'm so glad then when Daniel asked Harry if he would like Rafa that he replied "Does the Pope take a shit in the woods dressed as a catholic bear?".

Chelski already have that Courtious bloke as Cech's long term replacement though. Unless they want someone to come into the team straight away.

Are you dopey or what? who is complaining? I was using it as an example.

So in the 15 odd years Man U have been at the top its not cause of continual improvement?
Even though they are at the weakest at the moment the ground work was done well before the Glazers shafted them. Even then they are still better then us looking at the table.
You my friend havent grasped anything about the debate.

You were complaining about us not having cover for a hypothetical situation that Benny was injured...even though he never was. Asking where the replacement was - Bale was capable of playing there, Bassong was capable of playing there, Rose was capable of playing there.

United aren't improving in the slightest, SAF's good at replacing the players that leave (Ronaldo, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy) but a lot of the time he's gotten rather lucky. This year, he appears to have failed - De Gea's no where near a good enough replacement for VDS, and they didn't replace Scholes at all (which is why they bought him back as an emergency stop). United may have won the title 3 times since the Glazers took them over (IIRC), but that's because they're Manchester United. Now that City have shown up, it's shown are incredibly weak they've gotten.

Yeah, you're right stemark, we obviously haven't been trying to get a striker that we've craved since Pav joined and we all realised he wasn't fit to clean Berbatov's boots never mind replace him. All the itk is just made up, people just make it up. No one has contacts with the club or the business and all the noises about us wanting a forward (from people who have been bang on, a lot) are all rubbish.

And it's all because your mate Harry is happy with what he's got. Yeah that's it.

Feck me Paolo...I don't remember this overtly pesimistic side of you in past windows...is it a new thing or amI misremembering

I'm not pessimistic at all about the season, but the club's failure to address this major issue is annoying.

Imagine Ade gets injured and we end up 5th or something, let's not forget this is still Spurs. If we get no-one in now and then Luka goes we will flop straight out of the Top 4 again IMO.

It's a lack of planning, we have no contingency and I just think the striker issue has rumbled on too long.

That combined with being sick of seeing Pav ambling about. I was annoyed during the summer with the way we handled things, all too last minute to the point we were well understrength at the start of the season.

If it doesn't get sorted out soon, we will never kick on IMO. We were supposed to make a statement to show our ambition.

We must be aiming low, bit disappointing, no?

Edit: If something comes up on deadline day again, you have to wonder what's going on a bit and just why we can't either move players on, or get the players we need. Deadline day stinks of brinkmanship and at 3rd in the league, that's not good enough IMO.

I agree, absolutely...the only problem is that was done under a DOF (Master Comolli, no less).

However, he was a player Juanque very much wanted, and we are led to believe that it was the Dear Leader's making Dinamo Z an offer they couldn't refuse wot won it.

Basically we still haven't replaced Berbatov, I would murder to have a player back like him instead of Pav.

I honestly think some people on here preferred the Arnesen and Santini days. We were crap but we made a signing every Friday. No matter how well we are playing these days some on here still despair.

Santini was in charge for what, 3 games total???

I honestly can't see us spending BIG on a striker when we are trying to get money together to help fund the new stadium build.

This is the bit i don't understand, surely:

New Striker = Guaranteed Champions League = More Money for Stadium

and likewsie:

No New Striker = Possible chance to miss out on CL = Less money for Stadium

can you stop insulting pav with every post you make? we get it, you don't like him but there's no need to be so disrespectful to a player that has scored some important goals for the club.

New Striker does not guarentee Champions League football.

Also DL wants the stadium money now, not later.
