Well losing out on champions league football to two of our biggest London rivals was upsetting, but the news that Nelsen might be leaving has really pushed me over the edge...

Hmm. Lloris, Remy, Vertonghen.

Would be more than happy with that this summer, and getting rid of a few.

A lot depends on whether or not a deal can be done with Adebayor though. We'd need him to come back as well as those three.

But even with Modric gone that would be some team.

------------- Lloris ---------------

Walker Kaboul Vertonghen BAE

--------- Sandro Parker ---------

Remy ---------VDV---------- Bale

------------- Adebayor -----------

Brad/Carlo, Dawson/Caulker, Gallas/King, Livermore, Lennon, Defoe/Saha, Townsend

Nice.

So we have Ryan Nelson to the MLS

and

Ryan Nelson to be given another year with Caulker loaned out

I know which one makes me want to cry and which one doesn't

I have no problem with Nelsen as a backup, but with the 25 man squad limit and three other defenders of iffy fitness on our books, it's too much of a gamble to keep him on. Vertonghen, Kaboul, Gallas, Dawson and Caulker should see us through next season fine.

He's also still a top player, and will do really well out there I think.

I know. If its not one thing with Spurs its another. Its like a neverending nightmare. Next it'll be Saha and if that happens I just don't know what i'll do.

Wouldn't Caulker not have to be one of the 25 for next season as he doesn't turn 21 till December? Or do they have to remain under 21 for the whole season?

An Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences

He'd be U21 until the end of this season, I'm pretty sure if he's still 21 in January after the squad is registered he'll still count as U21 too (even if he turns 22 during that season).

Excellent, so he won't have to be counted as part of the 25 (as long as we don't send him out on loan again).

What happens to the 20 million we havent spent in the past few years is more what id like to know????
£30m+ has gone to the training ground. In 2010 we bought VDV, Sandro and couple of other tiddlers - ~£20m. Last summer we got in £30m from sales, not to mention how many millions of pure loss in wages for last season. Maybe they were accumualating a bit of dosh for this summer?

Instead of buying a few £10m players, we can get ourselves a couple of nice, shiny £20m players as a result? Real quality being brought in to strengthen weaker area of the squad instead of just adding more of the same?

Those clever folk at the Mirror, they've got it all worked out...think I'll ask in the benevolance, rather than trying to order my own life, from now on

The Goat's latest news is crushing. I was resigned to the fact that we may be losing Modric and Bale this summer, but no one prepared me regards Ryan Nelsen leaving.

Not to worry, we'll still have a few dozen injury prone 40+ centre-halves to call upon :)

Redknapp has given in because Levy told him he would 'try' for Rio Ferdinand for him. He'll try, but that Old Trafford switchboard is just so hard to navigate...
