Chelsea play awful football though. Signing Hazard and Marin is not going to change that suddenly, also something has to give as you cannot play Mata, Lampard, Marin and Hazard in the same team as you would get violated.

This. No drogba, and lampard on the wane, like Mr P said, they have alot of rebuilding to do.

Hazard would be great, but i would prefer us to sign more powerful players, to compliment lennon, vdv and even bale to an extent.

So they're buying Hazard for c. £35m, they've bought Marin for £20m - how are they going to fit them in alongside Mata, and how can they pay the wages and still adhere to the FFP rules?

It's a joke that teams have that much sway - they and City are ridiculous

They only signed Marin for £7m. But I was thinking about the FFP rules as well. I reckon they'll continue to spend this summer.

Chelsea have a lot of rebuilding to do, I would expect them to spend a100 million minimum this summer.
left it a summer late with financial fair play didn't they. Not like the Chavs really care about UEFA or FA rules.

yeah cynical as you know what here too.. money talks but when and if we had chance we should have taken it . we had chnace to nail arsenal too in league but fucked that away . i think losing hazard could just be the start of it personally. modric situation will rear its ugly head in a few weeks and spurs better be ready for it. once he sees players like hazrd joining he will demand to be on it 2.

3rd, 4th, CL or not. I very much doubt that would have had an effect. We won't change our wage structure based on 1 season in the CL, when there is no guarantee we'll be in it the season after. We have a rich owner yes - but he treats the club as a business not as a toy.

Players like Hazard are always going to look at wages and lets be honest, is someone is offering you 170k a week and the other is offering 70k - who are you going to pick? We play good football yes, but financially we are a level below Chelsea/City/United/etc.

Things won't change until we have a new stadium. The key is maintaining a decent level of success until then.

If you were our financial account manager we would be bankrupt. There is no way that you cannot recognize that...

Let's be honest, he's whored himself around since January, purely looking for the best financial deal that he could get. He claims that the decision is based on regular football, not money. If that's the case then it wouldn't be City or Chelsea..... He'll end up just like Lukaku if he's not careful.

To be honest though, gutted as I am this this thread had so much optimism at the start, and rightly so from the comments that he made, whoever he joins, it will be superb to see such a talent in the PL.

I never feel this way. I'm not sure why though.

Also, I really believe Hazard is making a mistake if he does join Chelsea. City, Arsenal or Us, would give him a platform to showcase his attacking brilliance but at Chelsea I can see him failing to live up to his hype, due to the way they play football and the fact Mata is their main man now in an attacking sense

whatever. all things great with the mighty spurs eh.. butter would not melt. all top clubs will talk the talk with reagrds ffp rules but at end of day they will do what they can and by all means necessary to get up on rivals and get ways round it.

I do agree with that, although I think he shiuld have joined Utd, Fergason would have made him a much better player, and kept him grounded amongst all of the hype.

The thing is we don't know who will manage Chelsea long term. I can see them spending hugely and that will include the manager. And this may well make them into the fluent exciting passing team roman is dreaming of

but lose top players in the mean time who see we are getting no where and not spending to be the best. its tricky granted but just plodding along and picking up freebies here and there and not bringing any top player in to complement what we got and keep players motivated and ambitious to do well in our colours should be paramount.

i mean ill keep stating why did harry say few weeks back that spurs need to be bold and spend and go for it this summer?? whatever personal reason he might have the fact is spurs need 3, 4 top players and cud have a real go at title. it wont be done though
