Personally i don't mind if sell Modric to Utd, neither Carrick or Berbatov have had what you would call illustrious careers since leaving us and neither are fan favourites as they were when at Spurs.

If we sell Modric to Utd, it has to be at least £40m and has to be tied up not at the end of the window and we need to have spent the money seasonably on two new players (one striker, one midfielder/winger) in a sensible time frame too.

Modric can then go to Utd, loose form as SAF will rotate him too much, lose confidence and get pissed sitting on the Utd bench half the time till he ends up getting a cut price move to go and join Kranjcar at Kyiv in 3 years time ;)

Are you kidding? Signing Carrick was a huge part of them winning the title in the season he joined and after, Berbatov also went on to win loads with them.

He was a key players in their team, but it's not as if they weren't pretty awesome at winning things before he joined, i don't think you can say he has had much impact on their results overall.

He's certainly no Vidic or Rooney or Ronaldo in that sense.

I mean Brown, O'Shea and Flecther have all won things with Utd, but i wouldn't say any of them had illustrious careers at Utd.

I think you are completely under playing both their roles in Utd's recent success

They both had roles, but not to the level that a £30m striker and a £20m midfielder should have had IMO.

I would say that Park Ji-Sung at £4m and £6m and both have been as successful and instrumental as Carrick and Berbatov IMO.

Right. Besides, it's not so much about what happens to individual players. It's not about that at all, in fact. It's where it places our club. Firmly and forever more, seeing as we put ourselves there, as subserviant. We might as well just forget about going for top 4 and maybe eventually a tilt at the title infuture yrs. Wave goodbye to signing players of real quality either - except as a mere nursery for them to sit in and play for a yr or two before going on to join a proper club.

If we sell another first-teamer to Yanited, ever, I'm walking away from it all. It's that simple for me. I'll let others find an acceptable lie to comfort themselves with but this club would be nothing but a feeder club, in everyone's eyes.
