He looks like the real deal from what I've seen.
Agree, but he has to very quickly adapt to life in the prem and in the UK, which will be quite a change for him. He then has to find himself a place in the team and bond with ****s like Terry and compete with established players like Lampard and Ramires and a bunch of other newly recruited talented players like Hazard and Marin.

Frankly with all this on his shoulders, as great as he may be, it's going to be really hard for him, as if he doesn't excel quickly he'll find himself out of the first team plans within months and being sold or loaned out to a mid table prem team where he doesn't fit in and where the opposition will kick him about.

CTD means ****ed.

It's like being Punked, but by an arsehole.

Say John Terry came up behind you and pulled your pants down, someone would say "you've just been cun*ed"

Just keep in mind that the second most expensive keeper in history is only 3 million more than what we will pay for Lloris, so he may not be able to rise very much at all.

1. Gianluigi Buffon £32.6m
2. David de Gea £18m
3. Manuel Neuer £15m (LLORIS GOES HERE)
4. Angelo Peruzzi £10.5m
5. Craig Gordon £9m

Where have you got that list from? Neuer should be second (t'was more than £15m) and where is Toldo (£16.4m to Inter).

Can we drop this moneyball cock, puh-lease! Yes, it's a good system but that's it. It's not a way of life and clubs in all sorts of sports have been going down similar routes for eons.

Not everything this club does in the transfer market is "moneyball". It's simply good business. It's been around longer than 2003 or even '93. Some clubs have had to entirely structure their clubs on similar principles due to being in tiny markets for decades.

DL has ALWAYS been about buying younger players - not yet in their peak. He has added to this buy bringing in one or two good cheap veterans, and cheap is the word here. Naybet, Davids etc. And also buying in pups like Azza, Hudd, Taarabt to pad out the squad a bit.

Not filling the team with veteran after veteran with little-to-no resale value and on mahoosive wages, comparitively.

Because, guess what, that can lead to a very unbalanced squad and little room for manouvre. The major plus is that the yoof system seems to not only have carried on as normal but kicked on a gear and we're hopefully not very far off seeing real results from it coming through into the first team squad.

That fucking book could never have been written and many many clubs in the world would still do similarly.

/I needed that

One more thing though (and then I promise not to mention it again for the sake of everyone's sanity), I read somewhere that Billy Beane's a football fan, and not just that - a Spurs one!
Can anyone confirm or deny this, one of our American brethren perhaps?

Dinamo Zagreb's sporting director, Mamic: Between €5-10M seperates Madrid and Spurs to agree on a deal over Modric.

So in other words, Daniel's driven them up as far as £35m and now he wants £40m! :ROFLMAO:
Man they're gonna remember this when we next want one of their cast-offs, but I don't care - it's their fault for being such a ridiculous financial showboater of a club! :sneaky:

He is a Yid as far as I know. Great book and a very good look at the A's example.

Jesus H though, particularly since Pewel have been bought by American owners, it's been moneyball this, moneyball that.

More to the point, they'll remember this when they come back for Bale.

Yeah, I think he was a fan mainly through his friendship with Commoli at the time, I assumed he's lapsed since Commoli got axed! There are pics of him with Levy and Commoli at WHL though. John Henry's an admirer of Beane and likely hired Commoli on his recommendation.

Mamic's son is Luka's agent, the whole thing stinks.
Yep. Football has always been dodgy. It seems the norm now though. Anyways, get top dollar for the little turd and move on. Not even 3 weeks left before we kick off against the Barcodes.

Yep. Fair play to the Henrys in at least elbowing him out of the way sharpish. He would always bring in some fantastic youngsters but when the guy made a mistake, it was a costly one. And they usually come in bunches.
