Depends if we are going to keep GDS I imagine. I seem to remember ITK saying Villas-Boas rates GDS.

AVB said in his pre-match interview that Gio is injured and out for 3-4 weeks - so unlikely to move i'd guess.

i know its only bentley but surely he is our only right side option when lennon does his groin 4 times and his hamstring 6 times!! Maybe we are gonna make a last hour bid for walnut?

Youd think wouldnt you. Maybe his wages are too high to sit on bench.

Some people need there fucking head seen to regardig VdV, 24 goals in 63 appearances for us in total (that the same number of goals that Moutinho has scored in his entire club career). 13 in the league last year, moments of pure passion, I loved the guy the instant he pulled on our shirt, all from a guy who apparently can't give 90minites. I really don't understand the thought process some of you guys god through.

Right I'm off to bed now as got a long day ahead tomorrow. Won't it be nice to be woken by a official spurs text at 3'ish in the morning informing us/me of a major signing like we/I was with Modric in 08....

VdV is a legend, but I think many of us accept the fact that if he is going to move, it is for family reasons. Because nothing trumps family, we are fine with his going, wish him the best, but also want the best replacement we can get.

I disagree. While I agree our set pices has been shit it seemed they weren't a focus of our traning sessions either. I'm also struggling to think of what better alternatives we had for set pieces. When Adebayor came he started taking our pens, and apart from a couple of failed Kaboul freekicks I can't really see what other alternatives we had, apart from VDV.

About the Modric part, Modric and VDV worked great together. How you think VDV prevented Modric from doing anything is a mystery to me. Modric was our most influential player from the CM spot.

It's less about the alternatives, more about the fact that you just knew his personality led him to insist on being the hub of everything. Surely Bale could have had a few? Even Benny hit a sweet free kick at the weekend!

With regards Modric, you may well be right but I thought we were a much more fluid team the year we made the CL, and more different players shone. Also Modric played 10 mins for Madrid yesterday and immediately it looked like they were utilising him further forward, something we rarely did, he even had a shot! Maybe not VDV's fault but still, I felt Harry pandered to VDV and he ended up benefitting, whereas others were slightly sidelined. Not how any of us perceive AVB's philosophy, i'm sure.

would you not think he is better suited to a 4-3-3 than lennon? cant see lennon getting 10 goals this season, im not starting who is better blah blah... just a suggestion. i feel ill now.

I know JJ has recently said for people not to get their hopes up too much about another striker coming in before the end of tomorrow, but whatever else happens - even if, miracle of miracles, we sign Moutinho - for me the transfer window simply won't be able to be judged as a success if we don't sign another striker capable of playing up top in the Adebayor role. That's not to say it would be an abject failure; we have already made some great signings in Sigurdsson, Vertonghen and Dembele, maybe with more to come.

But regardless of any other transfers, if we are forced to go from September to January with only Adebayor and Defoe (JD being a great sub, and a complete waste of time on every occasion he doesn't have a strike partner) then we will have left an unforgiveable hole in the squad for (at best) at least half a season. In those circumstances, Levy should rightly be criticised regardless of his previous and recent great work, because it isn't acceptable for ANY Premier League club to have only 1 striker who is fit-for-purpose in the formation that your manager will be playing during the season. If that happened, I'm not suggesting people go crazy and start calling for Levy's head, but equally I will have no time at all for anyone who maintains the window was successful due to the other great signings we have made if we are practically threadbare up front.

That said, there simply MUST be strikers out there who are both affordable and can play adequately in the lone striker role, and I'm very hopeful that the club will have signed one of them by 11pm on Friday.

They're not the same type of player, don't confuse what I was saying with a like for like comparison...its to do with the way we are at present and could be set up as side, ie the balance, in the future with the arrival of Moutinho.

Moutinho would not be playing in the VDV role, so his goal comparison is totally irrelevant, he would be a replacement for Modric but ultimately it would enable us to go down the 4-3-3 route ie Sandro/Mout/Dembele or Sig with a front three ahead, could be great with the appropriate right sided forward.

So what are we expecting tomorrow - realistically :

In
Lloris
Carvalho (loan)

Out
Jenas
Bentley
Dawson £9m
Gomes or Cudiciini (otherwise with Lloris we would have 4 GK's over 21)
VDV (but only if Remy and/or Willian and/or other attacking player in - even Dempsey after no ITK)
Ceballos ????!

Wildcard Ins
Mountinho if price drops to £20m
Top Striker - Llorente, Falcao etc

Hmmmm seems a lot of business, but its Levy time !

kRpJo.gif

Even so doubt it will all be completed !

Fair enough if he wants to go bu I have heard nothing like that from him. It's more some people's attitude to VdV that gets me.

In: Moutinho, Lloris
Out: Rose, Gomes, Rafa

I reckon we'll fail in trying to get Remy. Would not be surprised if we were linked with Meireles at some point during the day. We'll try to shift Bentley and Jenas but shall fail.

Last summer we managed 1 in (should have been 2 but the Cahill deal fell through) and 5 out? I'd expect maybe a bit less than that.

Out of interest: was Akqa the guy that predicted Kaka last year?

Totally agree they are not be same player, it's some people's remarks regarding being happy with VdV leaving and Mouts comin in piss me off. We would be lacking goals from the midfield/ wide players. Dembele is far from prolific, as to is Lennon. I'm a huge fan of Sig but its alot of pressure to put on him to fill the goals left by VdV. Also just a personal thing but I have never been overly impressed by Mouts, the only time I've really thought he was something special was the Euros. Hopefully if we do get him he can build on his performances there.
