A new primary school and 250 affordable homes are to be built in Haringey as part of the deal struck with Tottenham Hotspur over the club's plans for a £400 million new stadium in the borough.
The move is designed to offset the absence of on-site affordable housing at the Premier League club's new stadium site where 300 luxury homes will be built after Haringey Council reduced section 106 terms to get the scheme moving.
The club is working with Newlon Housing Trust to deliver the affordable homes. Newlon has previously worked with Spurs' north London neighbours Arsenal on homes for key workers built as part of the Emirates Stadium development.
But in an interview with 24housing magazine, Tottenham's finance director Matthew Collecott recoils at the suggestion that the club can learn a thing or two about delivering affordable homes from their arch rivals.
“Seriously, Arsenal did very well,” he said. “But higher Islington property prices have helped them.”
Newlon Housing Trust chief executive Mike Hinch says the group has already worked with Tottenham to deliver more than 30 affordable homes, offered at social and affordable rents, at Berland Court near Northumberland Park station.
Subject to planning permission, it is hoped the new school - set to be run as a Free School - will be ready for use in September 2015.
Grant Cornwall, Chief Executive Officer of the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club Foundation, said: “We have a strong commitment to local schools in the neighbourhood and we look forward to welcoming and working closely with the Free School as part of that wider school family.”
Newlon's Haringey development will provide a mix of new social, intermediate and shared ownership homes.

I have doubts this will be built with Levy and Lewis in charge.

I refuse to waste my time lining their pockets.......

As long as you're prepared to waste your time slagging them off, what more can the Club ask.

Yeah they are never going to build a new stadium are they.. If they were thinking of it they should have bought up all the land around the stadium, and started some prep work.. I dunno, something along the lines of knocking millions of pounds worth of properties down. ...

.. Oh? What u mean they've already done that? And fenced the area off with hoardings showing images of a new stadium? Well I never.. Blow me down with a feather duster...

Now why don't we all push the Club towards having a standing area say at the lower or upper "kop" end.

That would lift the capacity to a headline 60k, accommodate those who stand anyway and lift the atmosphere.

Atmosphere has suffered since all seating because among other reasons more women and kids attend these days because all seating gives them comfort and safety.

It is excellent that women and children go along in more numbers but they are naturally not so loud as male adult voices.

Singing and chanting usually begins and emanates from one section of a football ground then the rest follow.

The standing section would most likely be that section a la some German football grounds.

the law doesn't allow it, but Villa Park are trialling safe standing areas soon and I hope its something we see back at grounds in England's top division.

I think I can forgive some one for being pessimistic tbh.

Obviously as soon as they start laying the foundations for the stadium and especially when it starts going up I'll be grinning like a fat kid in a sweet shop, but at the moment, with the lack of any kind of media coverage, i'm still sceptical.

When ever Levy says something, be it about our ambitions, transfer targets or, in this case, the stadium, I cant help thinking of this:

I would prefer more open space like the old plans with Hotel but that does really good, I just wish the club would let me design the stadium

Comprehensive redevelopment of the Brook House (former Cannon Rubber Factory site) including the erection of a 22 storey building providing 100 residential units (use class C3) and 148 sqm of commercial floorspace (use class B1, D1 and D2), two buildings of 6 and 9 storeys respectively providing 101 residential units (use class C3) and a part 2/part 5 storey building comprising a 2,388 sqm 2 form entry primary school (use class D1) and 21 residential units (use class C3), together with associated car and cycle parking, refuse stores, highways, infrastructure, open space and landscaping works. This is a departure from the Unitary Development Plan.

2.6.2 A Plan for Tottenham

A preliminary master plan for the redevelopment of the western high road has been
developed by Arup and S333 as part of the Northumberland Park study. This crystallises one of many solutions for the layout of regeneration development related to the stadium in this area.

Embedded within this is a version of the layout for the Brook House site illustrating how it integrates with the wider master plan.

I remember a few years ago there was something about us buying an athletics track in tottenham. Did i dream it or do we own it? If we do are there any plans for it?

Cor Blimey, that's going back a bit. IIRC it was something to do with Picketts Lock, wasn't it?? Sorry cannot remember much more than that, back in the eighties I think.

Much more recent than that. It was all to do with London being awarded the 2005 World Athletics Championships which were to be hosted at the planned Lee Valley National Athletics Centre. Wembley was being built at around the same time and projected costs for the proposed 50000 seat athletics only stadium (ha, dreamland) at Pickett's Lock increased beyond what the Government were willing to pay which I assume is where the idea for us getting involved came from.
