just throwing this out there, but here's a thought. What would you rather happen... (Assuming january prices are overinflated) Would you rather we sign a striker like negredo for 15 - 20m quid this window and hope he settles quickly and scores the goals to get us to the CL, OR Lose out on the 20m weve theoretically just spent to top up a 30+ million striker pot in the summer, should negredo fail.

Kenwyne Jones eh.....hmmmmm :cautious:. He is one of those players that has all the attributes to be a fantastic forward but it just doesnt happen!

If Levy really pulls another Saha/Nelson this Jan by getting Kenwyne Jones then I just give up all hope on him. The Levy defence brigade can not say anything if that happens.

Blame the chairman......that's makes me laugh. The chairman who forked out major dough in the summer, bringing in a class Goalie, a CB, 2 Midfielders and Clint Dempsey and has signed up a promising LB and another young midfielder. Not to mention got our new training ground open and plans afoot for the stadium.

The mentality of some on here astounds me at times. It's like we're playing real life FM at times.

What 30 million striker pot?? We will never buy anyone for that price under Daniel Levy. AVB wanted Mouts and Damiao in the summer and Levy gave him Sig and Dempsey.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with Jones. Yes, he plays for Stoke, but he's a strong, hard-working guy with a good eye for goal. Plus, you know...he's a striker. At this point i'm beyond being fussy on that one.

I recall Jones was played clean through in the opening minute against us a couple of weeks back. The ball ended up on the higher region of the north stand.

This is Danial Levy your talking about he wouldn't give a door a bang.

Badly run obviously happy with how things are going and has no intention of progressing us further.

Personally if we dont add to our stretched squad then IMO we wont get top 4. Then you can blame whoever you want but my monies on people blaming AVB but the real blame should be put squarely at the feet of our Chairman...............Again
Yeah, god, Levy is such a prick. How dare he run spurs like a viable business rather than pissing our money up the wall to please a few fickle fans.

The man isn't perfect and he's made mistakes, but if you honestly can't see what Levy has done for this club and say he has 'no intention of progressing us further' then I feel for you. We arent Man Utd. We don't have a billionare sugar daddy. We're really fucking lucky to have a chairman as level headed and shrewd as Levy and one day you'll realise that.

The amount of people who judge a chairman on how much they spend on players. ive ranted about it a million times, and this isnt the place to do it, so i wont. But try and look at the overall picture when judging a chairman. Not just transfers.

Not really. Levy could have bought Ba, Cisse, Jelavic, Michu etc all for really low prices and would have improved us. Were not saying go out and spend 30 mill. Yes he bought some good players in the Summer (Lloris, Verts) but he also did deals for Saha, Nelson etc when we needed something to help us secure a CL spot. Had he bought someone better last Jan we would have prob finished 3rd.

You can defend Levy all you like but you have to admit if he really is thinking of getting Kenwyne Jones in and we miss out on the top 4...who do you point the finger at? He will blame AVB. Ignoring the fact that he spends most of the TW's playing the waiting game till the last day which usually (apart from VDV) doesnt pay off.

Levy has done a lot for this club. I'm confident he will get us the stadium eventually and our frugal approach to transfer over the past 3/4 years has been because of the stadium and training ground.

He needs to be realistic with what he expects from his managers though if cant back them in the window. Clubs don't improve their league position by making money in transfer windows unfortunately. I'm of the belief our last four transfer windows have cost us two Champions League campaigns. I think we will miss out this season too due to our overall summer dealings and whatever we do ( or don't do ) this month.

So if he put it on SC why did mods not put it on RO? You don't want to be the cause of so many suicides I suppose... Good call!

Maybe because its hardly news. We've all known it for the last 2 years!!!

Re Jones. Swansea failed with a £3 million bid for him as stoke want more. Strange he's on the market though as hes been playing for them for the last couple of months ahead of Crouch. In no way is he a THFC player though. no way.

Holtby in now means no Mourts till summer if ever.

Still need a striker now, we've spent bugger all money so hopefully this will happen.

Actually I had seen Holtby play so I think he was a good creative player using his accurate passing. He thrives well as long as the striker is able shrug off the defenders. His partnership with Huntelear was top notch in a 4231, I rate his final third as good.

As for Moutinho, I still struggle to rate him highly after watching a few key games. But I think adding Moutinho will not solve of creative problems in the goals dept. Willian.... I think he will make a bigger impact compare to Moutinho if we dont get a striker.

Also if you look at Moutinho motivation to move to a new league is not high. He is indifferent.... while Willian wants to prove his worth bec he wants to play in WC. That makes him top on my list as must buy.... if he is available.

Obviously we have higher expectations than Kenwyne Jones.
However, IMO we could do a lot worse. For some reason I'm always terrified whenever he comes on against us.
With the right people around him it might not be so bad.
