dzeko talk comes from pleat's supposed claim that david villa is backup option to a top top striker, which presumably rules damaio out.

press reports today say we are in for mario gomez. out of the blue.

dzeko, gomez... same mould, out and out, makes the most of chances in the penalty box.

if and big if, bernard signs... him and bale on either side of a "dzeko or gomez" will yield many goals i reckon.

What strikers did Pleat buy for us? Clive Allen did all right who else?

That's a lot of players to fill 2 spots, even with 1 signing. I suspect someone may be off from that lot. If we go to a 4-3-3 next season I think that player leaving could be Lennon. He's more of a 4-4-2 winger really.

I think Sig only played on the left because Bale was in the middle and all his best play on the left was when he came inside

As for next season, I think we dont need another winger, we need someone who plays on the wing that isnt a orthodox winger but comes inside and creates.

As for Townsend, he only played right wing because Taarabt and Hoilett were on the other side. He also play LW just as good as he still does go round the outside as well as cut in on his right foot which is really good as well

Shopping started at Barcelona to Brazil to Wigan.

At least we are moving on down through our shopping list quickly this year.

david villa our back up option to dzeko ... that to me would be loco.

McManaman link makes total sense when you pull it apart and accept the semi-official story.

Last year we're in for Moutinho et al, then we can't/don't make it happen (for whatever reason, not relevant) so we have:
PLAN 'D': Dembele and Dempsey.

This year we're in for Bernard, Villa, Damaio & whoever. If we can't/don't make it happen WE NEED:
PLAN 'SOMEONE ELSE': McManaman, McCarthy, *insert above average premiership player available cheaply*

Point being: we need to have a variety of alternatives. Irons in the fire.
Otherwise, what happens? We end up with NELSON and SAHA.

And Chief Dan Dan has LEARNT FROM THAT WINDOW. Maybe.

Personal opinion, but Callum McManaman elicits no excitement from me. Townsend is just as young and shows more promise in my opinion, especially if the 4-3-3 is in our future.

Sorry guys been my nickname since childhood. Another favourite is yossi buni-onion. If we manage to make a signing or progress I will upload a new avatar with my white tennis socks on.

Now pls more ITK....we need this on a Saturday night when BGT is the only thing on.

Allen was signed in 1984 while Pleat was appointed in 86 so you can't really count him as someone Pleat bought for us

So McManaman eh. Not sure what to make of that. Don't really know anything about him other than that he gets his name from that time he was bitten by a radioactive McMana.

Mcmansman wound be great back up and cover to Lennon.

Townsend will play off the left you would have presumed. I'd Esther have too many players and quick pacey options. When Lennon was injured we really struggled having holtby wide and sigurdson

It's not you it's me, when you say bunion, I think of onion, then I think of food, then I think of feet, then I think of an onion growing out of a toe and it just messes my whole world up.
