It would mean Bale was off, so I'd rather not. 2 from those 3 though (I'm not sold on Benteke myself).
He would be a risk but i'd be much more happy to take him alongside someone who should get us goals in Villa.

All you guys creaming over Jese, would I've seen of him he looks a brilliant prospect. Prospect being the key word; would he really slot straight into our first team and score a load of goals?
Possibly? I've been saying Lennon needs to be replaced if we go 4-3-3; would Jese be the answer? This is more as an open question to those who have seen enough of him as opposed to an onion. Is he better than Lennon in that position (I'm guessing left wing/forward) and would he get more goals?

Also be surprised if Madrid are willing to let him go; I guess they will see it as a sweeter for a future Bale deal OR they will try put a buy-back clause in the deal.
Or perhaps Athletico come in and pay the additional €3 million that Levy is unwilling to cough up.
And what do we do then? Go back in for Leandro? 'Cause if we've failed to meet his valuation for the last 3 years, I can't see Internacional suddenly becoming accommodating this window.
Or do we chase Soldado? Benteke? These 2 are gonna cost £20+ millions. If Levy isn't prepared to pay the Villa money, do we really think he's gonna spend that big?
So what happens then? We probably scrap around on deadline day for a last-minute deal, and end up with a Louis Saha or Frazer Campbell. Or go with just the 2 strikers for the 2nd season in succession?
Once again, Levy is playing a dangerous game. Lets hope he doesn't fuck it up.

The wage increase is negligable and the £39m outlay matches up reasonably well with the new TV money? I don't expect this for a second but I would cream myself. And only with gourmet ASDA Price Double Cream. The good shit.
Don't forget Townsend. Wonder what we are doing with him. Would like to see him playing for us, but is there space for him?

Forgot Townsend oops, sorry Andros! That means we might look to sell Falque (or possibly Lennon for a bigger payday?!)
All this talk of Barcelona and Madrid youngsters coming with various loans and clauses:
1. I don't want to loan in any young players, however good they are, we're not a feeder club or a small club. Buy or move on.
2. I don't want to buy any players & give the sellers a buy-back clause.
Fuck that.
I prefer Dempsey

You make this sound so easy, "just produce another Lewandowski" if it was, everyone would be doing it. There's a reason why people do pay big money for strikers too, because finding one who is raw and shaping them is really damn hard and has no guarantees either..
Personally I think Adebayor has been a failure of AVB's man management. He clearly hasn't been able to inside his head in the way Harry could, but the chances of the situation getting better seem fairly slim.
four of Berba's 15 goals in his second season came against Reading at home IIRC. Not sure what point i'm trying to make, but there you go.
Yet still out-performed him, quite easily. There were also games where he looked less interested in participation than Ade ever did.
Normally I agree with you on buying a "next" talent, but I think we are in a particular situation looking to next season. We have Bale for one more year, we have to really make it count. I think AVB's argument to Levy is that Villa could dovetail with Bale, could lift his game his game and team performance, and maybe, just maybe we could do something really special next season. Whisper it, but I'm talking about the title...You are quite right, it is not just as easy as I made it sound, but neither is it a simple case of buying Villa and guaranteeing CL football, if that was everyone would be chucking their hat in for him.
History is littered with examples of these failures. I would rather we spent 5 million/small wages (circa 1m pa) and gambled on finding the next lewandowski/Falcao/Cavani and failed but at least did it cost effectively (allowing us to stay competitive financially) than 10m and massive wages (3-4m pa) and failed and lost the lot and meant we had to economise for a couple of windows as happened under Redknapp when we found ourselves with excess high wage baggage (not all Redknapp's doing).
