Levy just doesn't like signing strikers! To be honest cant see us signing one in this window! Personal opionion is we aren't going to spend £20 million plus on any player either so those wishing for Soldado or Benteke can keep dreaming.

Not too fussed about this. Looking at this logically, ok yes it would be amayzing to have the David Villa at Spurs and I am sure he is still a very good player and would bring a lot to the team.... But.... He is almost 32, we would really only have him for two seasons max, we would hardly make anything from a future transfer, he would request a massive pay wage and he has never played outside of Spain so at 31/32 we would already be taking a big risk at him being able to settle in league that is a lot tougher, faster and generally much more intense then Le Liga. Yes I would be happy to have him but saying that I would be much happier if we went for someone younger and who has a chance at becoming our leading sticker for years to come. It feels depressing because there was a lot of talk about us being very, very close to him being a Spurs player and at the last moment we loose out. It opens old wounds like Oscar, but take a moment to think about it logically....The summer has only just begun and we can get better!

:) That'll teach you BG!

i'll be honest here. i think it's clear (if we were actually in for villa) that he's just flat out chose atletico over us, nothing else. my problem is that spurs need a striker, we have needed a striker for years, everyone knows we need a striker. yet here we are, still needing a striker and we've just spent a large chunk of our budget on a midfielder we didn't desperately need. does signing paulinho for 17m have any impact on our striker targets? hopefully not, but to me, signing paulinho for such a big fee makes it less likely we're going to fill the positions we urgently need(lf, cf) with the quality of player needed.

if you'd asked me a few weeks ago whether it's possible we could sign say bernard and benteke this summer for example, i'd've said yeah, it'll be difficult but it's doable. now i just don't see it happening.

All valid points.
IF there was a player in world football that was as good add him but younger, cost sensiblemoney and wages, was willing to pay for us and Daniel Levy was actually capable negotiating a deal for.

For me that player doesn't exist. So for all the negative points you make, not signing him isn't necessarily the blessing you think it is.

Is rather have those negatives with him in the team for 1-2 years than starting with JD and EA again.

And if Sandro has a relapse, or Dembele has trouble with his hip, then we need a quality player to step in, Paulinho is still a good deal, and none of us know what budget we have for strikers either..

on the plus side this sort of shit normally happens to us in the last hour of the transfer window.

Plenty of time to reassess our targets, it isnt terminal. Villa would have been nice, but isnt the only player out there.

we probably realised we couldn't afford it after doing our entire budget on a midfielder.

You arent a fan of Paulinho huh.

Im sensing saddest. Or did you just really like that dancing gif? I reckon it will be easy enough to paste someone elses face in it. dont worry.
