And stoke newington, but geographically they near affluent areas. Tottenham is surrounded by industrial estates, reservoirs and Edmonton.

Seems that you really dislike the area mate. Why would you support a team but hate the area? Doesn't make sense to me but I suppose I am a bit special. Oh and Dalston is a little bit closer to Islington than Tottenham.

I can't stand Tottenham and I was born and raised in North London, not far away, hence my support for the club. The place is dirty, run down and yes, it does have a lot of crime, whether people like to admit that or not.

I think the problem with the debate over the last page or so is that people seem to be splitting into two camps where they are either readily ignoring the dirt and crime statistics to defend the place as rosy and nice, or they are going the exact opposiste and making it out to be a virtual, crumbled warzone.

The reality is actually somewhere in between. Anyone who pretends that there is not a greater level of crime in the area than others in London is just in denial. The statistics don't lie. There is a increased problem with gun violence, knife crime and petty crime. To give you one example, local pizza chains in the area have a regular problem of people ordering pizzas and robbing the delivery drivers for the pizza - so much so that certain estates are now off limits to delivery drivers. So talk of these facts is not to downgrade the place, it's just to accept there is a problem. However, the danger is if these problems are used to paint the place as an area where every single hour of every single day everyone who lives there has to stay in their house to avoid getting stabbed or shot. Such would be a gross exaggeration and not reflective of the reality - instead a lazy way to scare-monger a place beyond what it really is.

Personally, it's not somewhere I would choose to live or spend time in outside of match days. But I don't think the place is beyond regeneration or improvement.

We all know what tottenham is like, all i'm saying is remember that people from this forum live there and might not appreciate it being called a shit hole every time it's mentioned. There's no need for it.

Can't posters show the slightest bit of decency to each other these days?

To be fair, when opposition fans chant "Tottenhams a shithole I wanna go home" I nod my head in agreement. But it's our shithole god damn it!

If i had more money, i'd suggest an SC whip round to buy the place and turn it into a pub/grub/internet cafe/solicitors/builders merchants/archery range... what other skills do we have on the forums that we could incorporate into our new venture?

Gun range. It might even help to get the bullets off the streets.

Suuuuuuuuuuuup. Born and raised yo! I'm repping SW5/W8 4 life.

Having said that, no idea why Tottenham gets singled out. It's authentic at least. No doubt everyone, especially those who live there, wouldn't mind the rougher edges being tarted up a little but it's been associated with two things very dear to me, my late grandfather who was a Tottenham boy, latterly of Enfield and Essex and of course our beloved Spurs. Plenty of grimmer areas, imo. At least it's got a bit of character to it, admittedly in my usually hungover recollection. So I've always held a soft spot for it personally. Then again I don't live there so maybe those who do have different opinions.

Give me Tottenham over a South "where dreams go to die but they have leafy street after identical leafy street and the birds never sing which is really fucking creepy" Acton any day of the week.

Boston Manor here. I feel at home in Tottenham whether it is on match day or on a wet Tuesday night in December. The locals don't bother me and I don't bother the locals. It's all the twats who live in their lovely safe little villages who think everywhere is dangerous that make me laugh. They won't kill you if you don't look scared peeps.

Oh and on the B&H, I really hope something can be sorted out. If not, looks like it'll be the Irish Center the next time I manage to make it to a game. I would try the Bricklayers but it's seemingly rammed full of hipsters these days. Or Norwegians. I get enough of that hurdy gurdy shit at home!

Right. Being 6'4" helps I guess. I dunno, when you end up walking through Brixton at midnight with lightsticks every Friday to go clubbing and don't end up stabbed to death and raped, I guess you realise that, unless you carry around £500 quid balanced on your nose or shout "****s" at a group of unknown men the chances are you'll be left alone.

I've been mugged twice, both times on very lovely, cherry-blossom tree lined streets just off Ken High St.

This is easy for me to say, but I actually hope the regeneration is done right. I'd hate it to become a wanker's paradise like Hoxton. Polo necks as far as the eyes can see. :wtf:

Polo necks are the bollox mate ;-). Also being a big lump does help. However, I have mates who are knee high to a grasshopper who have no problem having a wander round there. When you read the Daily Mail and think that people are going to kill you when you step outside your front door then you are going to be scared. Just don't worry about it.

Tottenham is a shit hole but it's our shit hole and I will fight any one that says it's a shit hole. (Have I summed the thread up?) :D

Posh areas generally don't have good football teams.
