So we weren't close to signing Villa even though the player himself admitted it was close to happening up until Atletico came in for him? Some people really do set themselves up at times.

I still think we'll end up going back to Internacional with our tales between our legs. We probably thought we could walk away from the deal and go get someone else but it doesn't seem likely to happen.

Really not sure what to think of Bernard either. Can we really afford the top striker we need AND Bernard? If so then it would be incredible to get both. I just can't see it.

And you know Mido said we would move for Osvaldo if we missed out on Villa... Player (ex) ITK is the best!

Well remembered, on the site that dare not speaketh it's name, on the 2nd June he was singing Baldinis praises and says "I think baldini will go after Oscaldo if he can't get Villa"

I may T*eet Mido and see If I can get him to join SC!!! Ha!

It depends who we are selling to as well as in
Germany and Holland he has a good reputation
In England he is a clown

I think he'll end up back at PSV, their fans seem desperate for him to return. Don't know what sort of cashola they'd chuck at us though.

Did he really? I remember him saying something like "the plan was to go to the PL but then Atletico came in" etc etc. I haven't seen a single quote that he has named us in, though? Not being argumentative, mate. It's just that we weren't the only PL club interested in him and, as I said, I don't think he has named us once?

I have a hard time believing we will be able to conclude a deal with Gomes going to them in it. I think player swap deals are such bullshit usually so I have my doubts. And, if we want to include Gomes, it'd have to be because Mineiro absolutely want him as they will get their valuation for Bernard met by someone else most likely.

So basically the latest ITK is saying we will sign a striker but it will happen at the end of window in all likelihood.

What sort of fee would Osvaldo command, roughly?

I thought he said that Atletico did more in three days than another unnamed Club did in months - which everybody assumed to be us. It probably was us, but that tallies up as well....fucking about with a little mild interest but were never sold on the idea collectively down at WHL.

If that bid is to be believed, it just illustrates how unbelievably ridiculous our transfer strategy is.

If this kid is as good as everyone says he is, we should just go in hard on a one off splurge and say '£20 mil, take it or leave it' ala how the much fabled Modric deal was pulled off.

There were strong rumours of him going to Atletico Madrid for 18million euros, I'm sure his agent was gobbing off about it... Then they got Villa on the dirt cheap.

I am 100% certain that very early ITK quoted somebody as saying that Mineiro would only deal with us if they could have Gomes in any deal.

Any other deals where that has worked?
