I really want Soldado BUT
If they really have flown back, who would blame them? Is Soldado worth that much more than Man U paid for RVP, who was 6 months younger at the time.....???..(and EPL proven)

meh we've seen how this one ends already. We are a club that can not do deals for players who command 20 million transfer fees. so we'll try to mess about with future add ons. The selling club says pay the full amount or piss off, and then we run around all headless turkey on deadline day.

If we dont have the money for these players then we probably shouldnt waste our time annoying these clubs.

It's not quite that simple. The difference in their wages over just 3 years could amount to well over £20m.

madrid spur on ftl:
Deal is not dead at all.
Valencia want to maximise the deal, and are looking for, in their eyes a littel more in the cash part. Our offer is close enough that an agreement will be made.
Soldado has agreed terms in principle and when the agreement is made between clubs (expected to be this aftrenoon tomorrow morning) the rest will move quickly.
Haven't we heard ITK say the exact same thing already two times this summer with Benteke and with the Croatian kids? Deals were done "in principle" and then suddenly things fell apart.

I am an American whose first season following soccer and Spurs was last season. In that time, I've seen....

1) A Moutinho deal fall apart on the last day due to "technicalities".
2) A Damiao deal fall apart in January on the last day when it seemed like it was actually going to happen.
3) A deal for two potential superstars with Dinamo fall apart due to slight differences in arrangments.
4) A deal for Benteke fall apart because Spurs wouldn't pay up.
5) Now potentially a deal for Soldado fall apart because "something happened."

I'm sure there are others that as lifelong Spurs fans you had to suffer through. The one constant I see in all of these is the person who runs Spurs and is doing to dealings. I hope that this Soldado thing can actually get sorted out and turns out well for once, but fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice (or three times or five times) and shame on me. Really hope I am wrong.

The one constant is - that this sort of thing has been happening for a good number of years. Welcome to the wonderful world of being a Spurs supporter.

Lets be honest, deals aren't done in principle are they. This is just ITK speak for something they have heard is close.

We've seen it the last couple of years - in fact, I've been privvy to information coming from the club itself - it simply doesn't work like that. If Tottenham Hotspur want information released they release it, thats the bottom line.
They have control over information - as with any company the release of sensitive information is fundamental to the processes that the company work against - it's basic in security management.

So, the information we recieve, is never, the full picture, no matter which ITK person it comes from - fact remains, we have no idea what happened with the Benteke bid, or the villa bid, or the leandro bid or the many other hundreds before that. We enquire - rumours go around internally - and the information coming out of that, is just the back end of those rumours.

And add into that frame 'chinese whispers'... you start getting the bigger picture.

You need to apply a holistic view on things sometimes - if we get Soldado or anything other striker, the club will announce it, regardless of rumours. And recent evidence shows the club have a very very good handle on sensitive information.

I will eat my own turd if bale leaves this summer.

Soldado is still on. He has a release cause and valencia are genuinely struggling financially. They wont stand firm or they can't stand firm.

patience there is a reason levy jr is out there.

I suspect the itinerary was fly out, meet agents, meet valencia president, fly back with latest position while valencia board meet to discuss position so flying back was probably always the intention.

well least the barca job is taken, so when Andre is left with a last ditch 11:59 purchase of Peter Odemwingie he won't be able to leave for a bigger club:p
