I'd just like to say hello to all our central defenders available to start the season...

Hello Michael.

Weird, and completely out if the blue.

Good luck to him, always rated him highly.

This absolutely sucks, never since King have I seen such a quality player come through the ranks.

I am not a believer in Carroll, Holtby, Livermore blah blah blah, I'm a slightly cynical Spurs fan who honestly thought Caulker was going to be the bedrock of our team for the forseeable future.

How can we say yes to 9m when we have said no for the 85m for Bale (not that it matters as he's gone too)

Huzzah 100m to spend but no-one wants to come to a club with Europa league football and no wonder-player to give us hope.

Please prove me wrong in some form but this is the least I've looked forward to a footballing season since I got my ticket +20yrs ago

Disillusioned like the rest of you, makes no sense to me either! Young, English, played in Prem before, massive potential. Now we're left with one fully fit CB, one who hasn't played for a year and another one who's injured for a month!

This feels a bit like when Villa sold Gary Cahill.

Me too. All my Bristol City-supporting mates loved him. He seemed to do well at Swansea, and apart from a few mistakes here and there (such as at Goodison Park) I thought he did pretty well for us last season considering his age. In that second half at Old Trafford he was a rock.

Seemed to tick so many boxes. 21, English, plenty of Premiership experience, consistently improving...

I can only assume that our deal for Vlad the Impaler must be more or less done, or that Super Jan has made a miraculous recovery.

On the plus side, this must be BC's nightmare!

Must mean the Romanian lad is on the way in then.

Strange, strange move. The lad had lots of potential.

At this moment in time he isn't good enough for our first team, but he is definitely a premier league player. He may have wanted more first team football due to the world cup and he will get that at Cardiff. If he developes into a top player within the next two seasons, then we can buy him back at the same price.

Everyone's a winner!

At the end of the day we have to trust AVB's decision. We must have someone lined up though, whether it's Chiriches or otherwise.

Absolute fucking madness.
I'm expecting 'someone' to come in within the next 24 hours....seeing as they need to form an understanding with our only fit CB pretty sharpish.

We'll regret this, as others have said he is young and will only get better. Unless it's an attitude problem I don't see who we can bring in for that money who is epl ready right now.

At the end of the day I'd prefer verts and caulker as opposed to verts and Dawson at the back.

If within the next two seasons, he turns out to be the new Rio Ferdinand, then we'll buy him back for the same price. If he turns out to be the new Curtis Davies, then we have received decent money.

He is a bargain for Cardiff, he had problems with us when he was playing LCB. He has played all his previous games at rcb even when he was playing in a back 3 for Swansea

I think he will be at Liverpool soon or higher unless we have a buy back clause

It seems hes a casualty of our recent improvement, he had to move if he wanted to play every game. He's too good to sit on the bench but not quite ready for the first team.

If we can improve our defensive options between now and September it will work out ok. Plus I bet Levy has a buy back deal/first option on him incase he lives up to his potential, you don't sell a young player to Cardiff without having some kind of trick up your sleeve.
