I think he's got better at this since AVB came in. He's also started looking for passes more rather than just shooting.
It's just not true, Daddy...(ok, that felt weird), he's never gonna change and is still the same shift and blast merchant and only really cares about himself scoring.

The team we are building is beyond JD...way, way beyond.

We need to let go.

I agree, He definitely looked for the pass once last season instead of shooting iirc, so yes he has definitely improved on previous

If we do really believe that the time is now for us to show our ambition then we need to give GB a ridiculous contract/image rights offer and put this situation to bed.

Do a 'Benteke', slap a deadline (say friday) on it with a clear fee/payment structure for RM. Prepare a new contract at say £160k+ and give him very favourable terms in respect of image rights, with 100% to him on all commercial deals in which he is not wearing a Spurs shirt (like Lucozade) and at least 60% on ones where he is. He's generated the income so might as well let him have it.

He'd likely net us a bigger sponsorship/naming rights deals with him here anyway and he wouldn't be entitled to a slice of that.

Then just hope RM can't come up with the goods, get AVB to sweet talk him and slap down a great contact offer. He may even make the squad for Swansea!

I'm sure Bale is more focussed on how to get the most success on a football pitch rather than getting more money.

I agree. The main problem with Defoe is he is the same player he was 7 or 8 years ago.

I think we have to keep him for now though and deal with his replacement in future transfer windows. I think its best all round if Ade leaves the club this window imo.

PS: the whole lucazade thing is 4m or something (reported). 2.5m is about what he gets from it.

Thanks for sharing, fella. That's really interesting.

So, have I got this right: Lucozade pay nearly 4m quid or so to use Gareth Bale's image for their brand. Of that money, Gareth gets about 2.5m and Spurs get a bit under 1.5m (or thereabouts)? Would his Mr 15% get his...err... 15% out of Gareth's share or the total pie, do you know?

Sorry for taking this wildly off track, but I find it very interesting and does relate to his likelihood to move.

I wasn't going to mention this before but i've been told RM have offered Bale 190k after tax and 30% image rights. I have no idea how image rights work. Does that mean Bale earns 30% of all image rights or he owes RM 30% of all image rights.
Does this mean we've accepted an offer? I was under the impression (and I might well be wrong here) that terms are usually only discussed with a player once given permission by the selling club for them (Madrid) to speak with him.

And from a purely footballing point of view, he's totally better of with us as I think the pressure at RM will ruin him. I don't think he has a clue what he'd be letting himself in for in this respect.

Yep, I make you right there TT.

On the face of it, if the RM offer is accurate, Bale is financially much better off with us and, if our spending carries on as suggested, he'll have that shot at Silverware too.

The difference is that with us it'll be a 4 or 5 horse race, with RM it'll be 2.

Similar to the Scottish PL, 2 horse race with everyone speaking in a silly accent:eek:)

I'm sure Bignose gets his cut, as he would have negotiated the deal.

Gets his cut on everything, I would imagine.

you really don't want Defoe to be leading the line for 90 mins, the man has admirably mastered the art of Illusion. I really don't remember him touching the ball when Soldando came off last saturday

In reality it happens all the time. Clubs sound out with players agents personal terms etc....then the negotiating with his Club can start in earnest.

Not much point in going through weeks of protracted negotiations to then not be able to agree on personal terms.

Oh come on!!!! We all know that's not true! Every player is tapped up and spoken too before approaching their club.

Negotiating the asking price with the club and payment structure is probably the last thing that happens.

Breeze - got to say that some of the info you are getting really is bordering on super insider ITK now. I understand that your mate, or whoever works for Spurs, and you go along etc, but this is darn close to the ground info. Is this not stuff for the mods to publish in the RO if appropriate?

I agree, especially the last part. People are looking at whether we sign ( 'player X' ) for an indication on whether we are planning on selling Bale. The bigger indicator is if Real raise about 40m through selling one or two (Ozil, Khedeira)

Huge dose of salt required but we've apparently expressed an interest in Andrea Petagna, the young Milan striker. Is this FB working his magic? Has anyone even heard of the guy before? Anwers on a postcard.

But, unless the parent club have given permission to talk to the player, this is illegal.

RM acting illegally?

Shurely there'sh shum mishtake?

The info is not from him mate. I've passed the info about Bales wages and image rights on to our mods 2-3 weeks ago. I don't decide what goes into RO. But would prefer if my stuff didn't.

Depends who negotiated the deal, if the club did it then the agent cut would probably come from Bales end. If Barnet did it then he'd probably take 15% from both ends and another 15% just for shits and giggs
