Hmm, this is reaching but I think the "St." relates to a saint. If you translate Damiao from Portuguese into English it becomes Damian. There was a Pope/Saint called Damian.

But that's not complicated enough is it?
Also part of Damiao's name is dos Santos which translates as "Saint".

Bit concerned who will play where

Erikson middle. Lamela right. Chadli left. Saldado
Top. Plus sig, holtby, Lennon, andros as back up

So who are we replacing I'm the starting slots? Who goes from the back ups.
2 top players in each position. Plenty of games and no doubt we'll have our share of injuries to deal with.

(GK) Lloris, Friedel (LB) Coentrao?, Rose (RB) Walker, Naughton (CB) Vertonghen, Kaboul, Dawson, Chiriches (LW) Townsend, Chadli (RW) Lamela, Lennon (DM) Sandro, Capoue (CM) Paulinho, Dembele (ACM) Eriksen, Holtby (FW) Soldado, Defoe, Young No9

We can then focus on selling off Ekotto, Adebayor and loaning out Carrol, Sigurdsson and Kane

Griezmann is class no doubt but he's not a striker.

But he has played second striker on a number of occasions and I remember watching one game when he was their main striker. Now he isn't a main striker granted but he actually played well that night and has done really well in a second striker role, though I personally feel it would be a waste of some of his other qualities to limit him to a second striker role

Hi guys, my donations are now up to date, £20 for Lamela, Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore (Even thought it was just a loan).

If I could ask if any of you could have my little 14 year old Yid cousin Callum in their thoughts I would really appreciate it. He fell 15ft out of a tree after a branch snapped and is fighting for his life with head trauma and a broken back.

Don't mean to bring the mood down but really puts football in perspective.

Im not sure how the religious bit of the cryptic makes sense in regards to Antoine Griezmann, but it makes sense in every other way. He's rumored to have a €30M release clause in his contract, he plays for a spanish club (Real Sociedad) that could potentially be in financial trouble (although they're in champions league and i havent heard anything about them having trouble), he primarily plays as LW but can also play as a striker, he's young and will surely increase in value in the future, the goat has previously mentioned him, etc.....

Saint Antoine?

Probably a lot of folks on here today... So.. a reminder to donate!

I never officially put in a transfer pledge, but have thoroughly enjoyed spending inordinate amounts of time in here over the summer, so finally got around to donating today, to mark the last weekend of a truly mammoth window. the like of which we won't likely see again for a while!

I know I know but a LB as starter or better cover than Fryers and a striker and ermahgerd.

In fact, instantly forgetting everything that has happened before this minute and being wildly demanding, that better happen or DL et al can eff right off!

Maybe The Goat was bleating about one of his own: Antoine Vergote (Belgian Roman Catholic priest), or he could of meant: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

What has happened to my tightwad club?

That's clearly a Levy imposter at the games recently, the real Dan Levy is held underground tied to a chair being forced to watch SSN, every announcement causes him to throw himself around wildly shouting 'Sell Bale, SELL BALE!'.

His captor brings him food and he implores the passive stooge to 'tell them they have to break even, financial fair play, for the love of god, tell them!'

They are looking to release him back into society on September 3rd.
I keep waiting for our Gooner IT manager to email me and take the piss for having wound me up all summer with a fake Internet!

Thoughts are with him.

I was 13 and fell from a tree, around 3 stories high. I ended up being told I'd never walk again, and fought for my life with internal bleeding. 12 months later I got out of the wheelchair (or pushed by my brothers), ended up growing giantesque and playing basketball for england (U23's) and conference level football.

Hope he pulls through mate, really do.

I honestly don't think Chadli was signed as a regular first team starter but as a cover, I would expect Siggy will be off if Eriksen signs as looks likely, he has said a couple of times that he wants to play regularly and he isn't good enough to do that for us

I guess well end up with Lennon, Townsend, Chadli all competing for the third attacking spot alongside Soldado and Lamela if AVB wants a wide pacy option rather than Eriksen as the more narrow orchestrator/attacker when we play 4/3/3 or when he plays 4/2/3/1.

If we sign Griezmann then he has a much tougher job of fitting players in and someone might well be off either loaned or sold
