I agree with your last sentence there, but he won't change tactics. He believes in what he's doing (even though I'm not sure he knows what that is anymore) and he won't bruise his own massive ego by admitting he's wrong, which he quite plainly is. He's stubborn, not willing and, yes, incapable of change. He just simply has to go before these past few weeks of results becomes an avalanche of shit.

Two things...who is responsible for the summer signings...AVB or Baldini? the only value looking buys so far are Chiriches and Capoue.
Secondly....if AVB is sacked shouldn't Levy resign? he made the big call to sack Redknapp, he has to be accountable for the result of his decision.

Baldini has great deal to answer for IMHO. AVB looks shell shocked. Levy fine in my books, I would have sacked H.

City have beaten better teams than us by cricket scores - thats what money gets you, when spent correctly.

watching the highlights now and the players dont look like they give a shit

Sadly most players in the top of the EPL dont "give a shit" like say the Cardiff player for example, any more...its just a job to the top players.

I am a long time lurker, and rarely post anything on here, but I am furious about what I just saw in the first half against Citeh.

Tactically, I honestly don't think this system works. In particular, we seem to be out of ideas when it comes to passes to break teams down. We lose the ball a lot, and ok we win it back again. However that seems to be down to individual brilliance from Paulinho, Sandro and sometimes Holtby. Far too often the ball went backward or sideways.

Worse still is Dawson. I respect the guy, but just what is he doing, thumping the ball out wide, to pint sized Lennon?! Rubbish.

We're also destroying the confidence of Lamela and Soldado. Why we didn't play Lamela after he scored in Europe is beyond me. Soldado is feeding on scraps and spends more time on the wing or in midfield trying to win the ball back than up front. Why? Because the passes he thrives on don't come because we don't play well enough or counter with pace.

I'm expecting this thread to be flamed, deleted and my account on here blocked, because most other fans have a head in the sand attitude it seems. I have never rated AVB, and while I do not think getting rid of him is a good plan, I hope Levy and Baldini give him a good talking to.

The formation he wants to use does not suit the Premier League, nor does it suit the players we have. Our back 4 is too slow and not technical enough. With 442 and decent counters, where Lamela, Eriksen, Lennon and Townsend can have space, then it might work.

I've turned off the TV and am going out for lunch. I can't bear to watch Spurs humiliated, needlessly. With a few tactical tweaks, this team could be truly great.

Agree with nearly all of that apart from the formation he's playing not working in the prem. - scum and chelsea aren't doing too bad.

It's the way we're playing it that's the problem.

Yup, we can play any formation under the sun, but if all we are doing is playing a possession game with limited attacking options, then nothing is going to help us.

First rule of football, score more goals than the other team. I don't care if they score against us, as long as we score more than them, hopefully a lot more.

Who helped develop Bale in that position? Apart from today, we have tightened up at the back. The Man City forward line has been together as a unit and some players are firing again, like Nasri. They can do this to anyone.
I would have said Harry was the one that moved Bale first, and he kept moving. To say City can do that to anyone is like saying we can win the league. We can, but we won't, and city won't do it too many times, no club ever has.

That's I can't understand when people are depending AVB saying we're strong at the back and even if we win 1-0 it's fine, but it's not fine, it's a bludy risky game to play as we're finding out each week.

If we were attacking teams with intent to score I really wouldn't care. If u go down, go down fighting, not passing back to your keeper at 0-0, 1-0, 2-0....... You know the rest.

I'm just not understanding AVB's objectives, does he honestly think we'll win games like this. Even my wife said today that we just have no clue what we're doing......and this is the woman who calls Carl Froch, Carl Groffs.

I think he's lost the dressing room, but that's just a hunch. I'm basing it on the fact that our players look miserable, unsure of what to do, clearly lacking much enthusiasm or belief, and that I can't remember the last positive comment about AVB from any of our players.
I noticed that and this is my biggest concern as well. If you lose the dressing room, it takes a miracle to get it together. And it's not like AVB is Mr. Man Manager either. I've been patient with him for the past few months, but his stubbornness and ego are taking a toll on our performances. The expression on AVB's face today said a lot, and it wasn't about the fact that we lost by 6 goals, but it was the fact that the players just stopped fighting for it, they simply gave up and this was way before the first goal even happened. That goal was the very essence of our playing style these days, and the fact that it came from a laboured couple of back passes says it all. The yellow cards for Walker and Verts, and Paulinho's indifference also sent a huge message. I've never seen Verts getting a card for something ridiculous, Walker's was even more so. The way Verts gave up that last goal was very unlike him. I'm not picking on any player in particular rather I don't think they're at fault here at all. The blame lies with our system and the way we are setup.

AVB has a massive task at hand and he needs to start by changing his tactics and formation. The next 2 games coming up are very important. If we beat Tromso decisively, say by 5/6 goals, and then beat United the players can regain some of that belief and start on that path towards normalcy. keep winning thereafter, and improve on performances in the attacking third, i.e start scoring more goals, then we may actually have a chance at Champions League this season. We have a squad that can challenge for the title, but they're being woefully applied in the last third.

I still rate AVB highly and have held the hope that he would be our first manager in the PL era to get us that title even if he won't be our Ferguson or Wenger for years to come. I hope I'm not wrong.

I agree with you, as I have said in many posts today.

possession football is all well and good, at the right time and place, but we need to start attacking teams and making them fear us.

Heads cleared a bit now , so here goes my pennys worth at around 12.30 today when the team was announced many people on here and including myseft was happy to see the side Avb had picked , Kaboul, Lamara lennon in fact some congratulated him on the side he had picked , roll forward to 1.30 and 14 seconds and Llores as a right howler , this seems to have been lost on many posters on here , the whole game plan is out of the window befor the game as hardly started , after 5 minutes we get a foothold in the game until again llores again finds the opposition from a kick out of defence , 2-0. from then on heads drop and we saw what happened from there . Can avb be totally accountable from mistakes made from surposely the best keeper in the premiership . The last goal verts just looked totally dis-intrested in the game , ok left back is not your perfered position but the bigger picture is the team and the club who pay your wages . Avb needs to sort out the players who will take us forward and ship out the hangers on whoever they are . As for city being world beaters god we gave them four of there goals .

We beat Citeh at home last season then went and spent 100 million. Yer, your points add up...........

Sunderland that bastion of a soccer hotbed managed to beat this lot. Losing to a team put together with vast wealth is one thing, losing the way we did is totally unacceptable but predictable if you had seen any of our games this season. It was just a matter of time.

Baldini was given a remit, completed it and has kept his part of the deal, AVB has on the other hand taken a top four side with an injection of one hundred million pounds and made them look relegation fodder.

We desperately need to play a handfull of games with the same starting 11. These players chop and change every week it's no wonder soldado looks like a lost puppy cos none of the revolving midfielders every week understand his movement. Changing for the sake of it is bullshit eg why the fuck could Townsend not start today? He is young and fit enough to play 3 times a week and then gets his weeks rest before utd next weekend!

If we win against Tromso and then beat Utd this result will quickly be forgotten. We need to get behind our team and manager right now. Wont achieve much by turning on them
