Yeah and I seem to remember a few years ago that we were a bottom 3 side when we sacked our manager. There were plenty reasons for Fulham to fight harder in this game then they have in any game so far this season. They won't get relegated.
Jesus, we spent a LOT of money over the Summer strengthening a team which was already strong and Top 4 strong and we should be whipping teams like Fulham all day every day. There is absolutely no excuse for having just about beat Fulham, and I mean just about.

Missing sitters in front of the goal is not AVB's fault - NO manager can take responsibility - that's down to the players, you can agree with that I trust.

Yeah but starting two defensive midfielders with a box to box midfielder in the AM slot isn't exactly going to fucking rack up the goals is it

Massively important to get the 3 points. With Everton, Arse, Chelsea, City and Pool all winning we simply had to get a win. We're still only a couple of points of 3rd. We just need to get to January in touch and hopefully make 1 or 2 useful additions (forward and left back) and we've a chance.

League is unpredictable and anything still might happen, got to just enjoy getting victories even if there aren't as fun as days gone by. Utd didn't always play glorious football under Fergie. They had 2 shots on target in 99 CL final. No one talks about how crap they played that night do they?

We managed to only concede 1 goal, despite Dawson being all at sea.
Chiriches was worse than Dawson. He made two stupid fouls on their Greek guy when he was going nowhere. He was lucky not to bring on of their guys down just outside the box when he breezed past him and tackled him with the wrong foot. He left a simple cross from their right slip under his legs which thankfully Berbatov wasted. For the goal he moved to his right when there was no danger there and left Dejagah is acres of space behind him.

But hey he scored a great goal so he mustn't have been bad.

bottom line is any half decent side would have beaten us tonight. and beaten us quite easily.

shocking comical performance devoid of any class and maturity and inteligence.

we get lucky with five mins left to nick a second yet we still cud very nearly have lost it gifting fulham two goals only for a great save from lloris and the post saving us in the end.

we would give an under ten side every chance in a game and im not joking there.

like someone said this win papers over the cracks and until people from the very top start doing their job and coaches start using their fucking brain this club is only going one way im afraid. it was very very average stuff against a shocking poor side.

Quite probably the most idiotic post I've read since the last page. Jesus

I think people are right to be sober about that win. Most of the chances we created were on the counter attack, or had an element of fortune.

Paulinho's one - Fulham player has shocking touch and we were well placed with three men up to break.
Defoe one on one - Long ball forward, against donkey Senderos. No skill required in move.
Lamela - Defoe outwits Senderos, does pick out Lamela, but again it was hardly much to the move.
Paulinho late in first half - Walker nicks ball high up pitch and crosses. Good pick out, woeful finish.

Its not as if we are consistently creating chances by playing through teams or opening them up, which ideally should be the case with this style of play. We aren't going to have lumbering centrebacks like Senderos to outpace every week. Performances have to get better.

When Holtby scored I shouted really loudly, so loudly in fact that I think i nearly gave my Mum a heart attack. Luckily for me she didn't. It's also good that the neighbours don't live next door anymore - probably would've woken up the kid.

I genuinely don't remember Vlad doing anything too stupid tonight. But maybe he did. I do remember Dawson losing possession for the goal though, and also being the reason Lloris had to pull off a great one handed save.

We came up against a rejuvenated Fulham side playing for their futures, even Berba was getting a sweat on ffs.

The goal we conceded was calamitous, so many mistakes in them few seconds it was disgusting.

The Chadli sub was a bit baffling but I think he wanted to give Holtby more space.

2 wonder strikes later and we're all smiles.

Good game though from both sides.

We rejuvenated them I'm sorry to say.

Ugly game but we desperately need that...like a fat man needs fried food.

Some of you should feel ashamed. It's embarrassing to read when there's still half hour left. And I'm not talking about the comments on the style of football, I'm talking about 'I hope Fulham score', 'Holtby's shit' etc. How long does it take people to realise when you spout shit during a game, it can always come back and make you look like a complete ****.

Agreed. It's probably the same people that moan and actually boo substitutions without even considering the possibility that the off coming player could be injured!

Of course, but 2 swallows do not make a summer. If you watched that game and were happy with our overall attacking approach and creativity then....well. Fulham created more than us. And they're fucking awful.

I hear you - however they clearly weren't awful tonight (of course, the ONE night they play us)... They were going for broke from the get-go and played with callousness and spirited determinism from the sounds of it!

Putting aside the performance, it has to be said that AVB's away record with Spurs is incredible.

Difficult circumstances to be playing against Fulham, but we dug deep and got the win. There are definitely signs that things are moving in the right direction.

Having said that, if Verts is out injured and Naughton is played at LB, AVB might as well start filling out his JSA forms now.

If Paulinho had placed the ball into an empty net and Defoe placed his shot in the second half instead of blasting over (I left out the numerous other chances that we messed up) we'd all be saying how the team had finally clicked and AVB had got it right. More poor finishing and once again it is all AVB's fault.

Funny in these situations, at all clubs not just Spurs, it is always the manager and never the players. It's quick and easy but the players frequently get let off the hook and the manager gets fired.

I just saw Paulinho's miss on Sky Sports match choice.. how did he manage to miss that?!

Also, the major plus Soldado brings, is he doesn't lose possession as easily as Paulinho and Defoe.

P.S Lamela should have scored too!
