Paulinho scored yes, but missed 2 absolute sitters, more so than anything Defoe missed, one a complete swing and miss in front of a practically open goal and a free header which it was easier to score than put wide.

And if he's going to play as an auxilary striker then he really should tell his CM partner, as i don't think they'll last long (well Dembele died on about 70 minutes)

He also completely gave us with the pressing on about 70 mins, culminating in four times allowing a Sunderland player up the pitch as he just waited for someone else to close them down. Eventually got a bollocking from Capoue.

To me he seems to be the one that is usually flagging towards the end of games, yet plays 90 mins without fail. Lets hope it isn't taking too much out of him for the end of the season. He is surely going to need a rest at some point.

disagree all u want....
we needed an own goal and a lucky penalty call escape to win against the team at the bottom of the league. yes we played well, but we didn't show desire. we need to do better.

I think a good few of us, myself most definitely included, need to apologise for absolutely tearing into Andre's team selection.

Granted, Sunderland helped us by being hideous but Andre made big calls - especially in light of injuries and I'd say every decision was more or less vindicated.

We all like to play football manager and think we know best but with the pressure AVB has been under, to come up with 7 points in 6 days and two away victories in these circumstances he deserves a fuck load of credit.

Andre, I doth my cap to you!

Lennon had the balls to put his foot on the ball today, good performance, i will keep saying it Aaron, you are a senior player, this should be happening most games for us now.

u guys realize its the BOTTOM TEAM in the league??? yeah we won 2-1, but it could have been 2-2...

strange that i am the only one disappointed that the team didn't look hungry enough to kill the game off. teams like liverpool, arsenal, man city, when on top, they keep their level up and finish the game. we didn't do it, and it HAS came back to bite us in the past.

we lived dangerously, and its something we need to change if u want 4th.

These kind of comments are really quite baffling, football is not played on paper.

That's why it is the greatest game in the world, so many variables. Different styles clashing, Man City lost there a few weeks back.

With better finishing we would have won more decisively, we were clearly the better team and that's what put us under the cosh late on away to a determined side playing for their survival.

Oh boo hoo, some of the comments on here are ridiculous. Two wins on the spin, a 20 minute spell in the 2nd half when we looked as dangerous and fluid as we have for the past 12 months, and 3 points off 2nd place. Some people are just never happy.

That's the most annoying thing. He is playing in a two man midfield. And vacating the area with alarming regularity. Holtby was having to do his dirty work.

He barely looks like he can be bothered to get back after one of his jogs forward.

We'll give them a game and it could go either way... but we certainly won't get schooled.
Home is harder (new motto). Will be pleased if we get a draw at the mo. Things taker time.
Lennon is great. I said somewhere else that he was our best player last season too (behind Bale). I haven't changed my mind, despite the casual invective my comments incurred.

Keep us Spurs fans panicking till the last minute. Should have killed the game with our best football for ages early second half..... Townsend looked good.

I think this season has shown that no game is a foregone conclusion.
