He's not worth the money we paid for him but that doesn't stop him from being a proven goal scorer. I think he's going to get goals just a matter of time.

Just did some stat whoring and came up with some interesting figures. We're averaging 19 shots per game of which Soldado is averaging 2.4, that 13%. Liverpool by comparison are averaging only 16 shots per game, of which Suarez is averaging 6! Liverpool have already scored 12 more goals than us this season.

Agreed.
The market is inflated for proven goalscorers as there are not many high quality ones around. Benteke was valued the same as Soldado and that was after only one prolific season. Outside of those 2 there weren't many viable options at all after Villa moved to A. Madrid.

I actually came on to say something completely different about Soldado. On many occasions this season, but most obviously on Thursday night, he has shown some real class in the way he interacts with the other players. I loved the support he gave Fredericks throughout the second half, he went out of his way to offer encouragement and advice. Apart from his clever and thoughtful play, he seems to be a clever and thoughtful man. I really hope that he settles with us and stays for several years.

You know what I thought similar. I remember what Andy Cole said about Sheringham, when he was making his England debut, and he basically said Sheringham snubbed him which still affects him today. When I saw Soldado get subbed for Coulthirst you could tell his was wishing him well, even though, however unlikely it is, this player could potenitally take his place. He also said he expects to wait for his next chance after Defoe's performance at Sunderland. Such a team player willing to pass on experience and put the team first.
The way he clapped Holtbys goal and dropped to his knees for Sandros shows he appreciates the players' good performances as much as we do.

This and this. Those going to the game today please sing his name at the top of your voice, even if he starts on the bench he still needs to have his name sung just so he knows we are thinking about him and his wife through this difficult period for them both.

Is it just me who has been surprised in last couple of games with how clever a footballer he is? Have to admit i did think he was just finisher type of player but some of his passes in recent games have been quality notably the cross for Adebayor against Southampton and his pass to lennon v Man Utd.
Much better overall player then I thought he was and hope that he goes on a scoring streak because if he does we really will have a striker that teams actually fear!
