Imagine if Soldado starts banging them in now. Judging by yesterday it won't be long before he does.

Ade and him could be our best partnership since Keane & Berba.

I said on Twitter a while ago that it could be the start of something beautiful.

I will be ramming #Adedado down people's throats. Very excited about this.

I am sorry, and I do agree he has great attributes, but he's main job is to score goals and he isn't doing that! Yes he scores penalties, and in fairness does this very well so he is contributing to the goal count. However there is only a certain amount of time a striker can get. We are now in the second half of the season and he has one or is it two goals from open play in the EPL, and that is not good enough. Add to this he has had chances but not taken them, and we were all saying under the AVB system, he is a top goal scorer and if he gets the chances he will score. Well he isn't I am afraid:-(
He will of course get more time in this new system, and he is contributing in other areas as you say, but bottom line is he needs to actually score goals from open play. I really hope he does as I like him. But he must return on our investment.

here I am positively buzzing about his performance and then there is the stuff you've written above. Interesting how different people see a game.

Soldado always explodes with joy when we score too. The goals will come, id rather he was in the right place to miss them over not even making runs.

If he's getting the rest of the team scoring goals I couldn't give a monkeys if he doesn't score again this season.

hmm i didn't see sold ado chance as a sitter, a difficult chance it was a fast moving cross which was bouncing, and he was travelling at pace.
also for me harry kane looks lost and completely out of his depth, a move to QPR would benefit kane imo, he is not the quickest and not the strongest, those qualities need to be developed if he can reach those standards then maybe he can be an option. at the moment we need a striker who has strength and quickness or speed or power.

Sorry mate, that was a sitter. He couldn't even get his foot to it, it came off his knee. Poor, very poor. He'll come good though

Now can people slagging off soldado just please sit down and stfu. It's embarrassing.

He started the moves for both goals with great through-balls and put lennon through for a sitter with a wordly through-ball and could have had a goal himself.

Whoever's got the heat map fetish on here should get ones for him as he's been fucking excellent since tim took over.

He just needs a couple of the many chances he's getting into positions for to go in and he's on his way to bringing his fierce goal scoring prowess from open play here.

Amazing pen taker, fantastic positional sense and awareness, team player, great brain, and trust that this guy is a hot-shot. He will start to smash them in from open play.

The work he's doing now he has never done for us before and for that I must tip my hat to tim.

It freaks me out, the type of player that gets defended on here and the ones that don't.

It's like some weird anti-football adoration.

Soldado shits hot steamy ones on defoe.

Live with it.

Watch him in this gif. How quick must his brain work to see the guy has got Ade covered then turns and puts through lennon. All in a matter of seconds.

To now know he's got this in his locker and still have all of the amazing potential he has to score to come. I'm very excited. Ade/Soldado will be on a par with SAS and Aguero/Negredo, I'm sure of it.

I'm really amazed that he hasn't scored more to be honest. The chances are being created for him now, and after such a barren streak under AVB it's not entirely surprising that he doesn't immediately have his best shooting form click into gear. Give it a few games and he could be finishing the season looking like an absolutely vital player for us.
I think the way he was being played before really shook his confidence.

Not only was he new to the prem, he was also being isolated and starved on top of that.

I totally understand why he's been a bit shaky.

Yet, he's used his penalty taking mastery to etch up a little tally of goals and has kept it all ticking over.

The word for soldado is: soon.

Possibly the best change in Soldado's game is that he is playing with his head up and taking time on the ball. Now when he receives it he doesn't do a "Darren Bent" and play a backwards pass instantly. He takes it, moves into space and looks for the movement. This has completely changed his usefulness in the team and having more players up there to make the runs has brought out this quality.

Anyone who sees his penalties this year and pretty much any of his dozen volleys from last seasons knows the boy can finish, and I have every faith he'll start to from more situations. If he can continue to improve his build up play (which will also come from players making more and better runs around him), start scoring from inside and outside the box, we'll have a huge star up front.

That's my belief.

If Ade continues the way he is and doesn't revert to type and if solly starts to score as well as produce great support/creative play then that is not a wild estimation at all.

Especially if they both, in turn, are getting the creative support they need.

I usually put my faith and trust in talented players. Odd concept on here, I know....

Unfortunately, he has missed a few sitters now. I'm still hoping to see much more from him.

His performance yesterday was his best for us. Isn't it amazing how Soldado, Paulinho, Eriksen, Chdali and Dembele have all put in their best showings now AVB has gone?

Needs to be scoring those though, we could've battered United.
