It was sucked out from every player when our left back confused his abilities with those of Iniesta. Incredible to think that he feels that he would get away with that attempted move against Rochdale let alone the PL leaders. He has no future in a Spurs first eleven as far as i am concerned, and if that makes him want to leave then i would willingly pay his taxi fare to get him shipped out.
Weren't we playing a very high line and didn't Sherwood say that he believed in Rose? I'm surprised you didn't mention the former, but I expect that you have a very selective memory.

Jason Burt or not that article is spot on. It was a woeful performance and us fans who were there took no pleasure in watching it or getting goaded by them ***** after the match.....

So how would you define our performances against Liverpool and City?

I'm not going to shed any tears given Sherwood's whispering a to his mates in the press during AVB's reign. Playing a formation that helped the main strength of the opposition is beyond stupid.

What whispering was this?

Weren't we playing a very high line and didn't Sherwood say that he believed in Rose? I'm surprised you didn't mention the former, but I expect that you have a very selective memory.

Not particulalry, and do you think he's going to say, 'Yeah, Rose is shite, but what choice do I have?'

We were never going to win this game.
It's the FA Cup and no longer the FA cup of yore so to be honest I was vexed and disappointed but now am not too bothered about being knocked out, as Arsenal will hardly win it so they can celebrate.
We have a depleted side and if we had a decent defence who didn't make gross errors like ours did to gift Arse I reckon even with the depletion elsewhere we would've won.

442 works on the counter if the defence and defensive mid arestrong enough to hold and others track back too but we seemed to be playing in first gear and never really went for it. Even Lennon was at caution speed. Something missing which was evident at OT.

Anyway Arsenal won't win anything so me no care

I think there has been some poor analysis on here and on various sites. A few observations:

- Tim played Bentaleb because we did not retain the ball well versus united. While play was broken up in that game we gifted it back far too often and easily for Tim's liking and put us under immediate pressure. We actually got a bit lucky in that game. Webb usually gives them a penalty or two and the only reason he would even be given the chance to do so is if they have the ball and can drive in from the flanks. We won because of two attacks of real quality and managing to hang on defensively. It is perfectly reasonable for a coach to want to have better control over the game, which Tim clearly believes - and I personally fully support - is through better ball possession.

- the formation and the 'naive' 4-4-2 purely to leave his imprint on the style and set up of the team. Total bollocks. Adebayor and Soldado were not waiting in the box for crosses to come in - they were heavily involved in buildup play and were tracking back defensively. We created chances and kept the ball well - Bentaleb did a good job. Timmy encouraged Soldado to try to be creative and that showed - he is not a Defoe type box player. The reason we lost the game was because their possession and movement and work rate was top top notch and we simply tired and missed the chances we created (which were pretty decent - particularly Eriksens early on, Ade's in the second half when we were 1 down and Robbie should have been testing the keeper) . They have good players who seem like good guys as well - Santi Carzola gave Bentaleb a pat on the back towards the end. They aren't diving whining pricks like United and are in the top three for a reason.

We matched them and had a proper go at them. Yes they were the better team but we did not look out of place at all. Tim summed it up perfectly

"I am disappointed with the result, but we didn't disgrace ourselves.

"We showed we belong on the same field and in the same company as Arsenal.

"It has been six games in 17 days for us and we probably have the smallest squad in the league with the amount of injuries we have had.

"We were fatigued. A little bit of sharpness was missing but it could have gone either way.

"They showed great character and I am proud of them."

So am I - really happy with Tim and what he has done so far. Onwards and upwards. COYS!

Was it woeful ? How many times did Arse open us up ?

Look at the possession stats.

Stats are very deceiving at times as every time they went forward they looked like scoring whereas as both soldado and ade decided to take the afternoon off.
Tims decision not to match up to their formation was naive and stupid.

Perfect summing up ... Almost.
Our defence was piss poor and made too many mistakes, this is what cost us the game as elsewhere we were not too bad even with a depleted side.
Now a 100% side would've beaten the Arse all day long

Nah, they'd have still overrun us imo.

You really have to match them in the middle imo.

They are just too good as a unit to take any chances.

[edit] Oh sorry, you mean dembele off of ADe?? Yeah, that may have done it. Bele drops deep naturally anyway.
Yeah meant Dembele sitting just infront of the middle two making a 5 when we don't have it

Talk about here and now. Everyone was quick to pick holes in the previous manager, HT of his first home game in charge ffs, so why should Tim be imune from blatant mistakes?

That doesn't answer the question, does it? If this was woeful, what was Liverpool? Or City?

Do you and others seriously believe that matching them man-for-man in midfield would have made the slightest difference? It certainly didn't in September, did it? And let's not talk about last season, shall we? As defeats by the Scum over the past 30 years go, this was a long, long way from being the worst. Lloris was no busier than he was in September, their first goal was a co-production between Chiriches, Dawson and Walker and the second… Well, no need to go into that again, is there? Sure, we were second-best (what else were people expecting?) but we were a long way from being down and out and still in with a chance of nicking it until Rose lost the plot.

We are a 'massive' club, we are a club that sacks managers even if they get us top 4, we are a club that gives our manager 100m in one window to reach the promised land....

Then we give the top job to someone who has never managed before, ever....someone who has no coaching badges..none...someone who the top players around the world have never even heard of....

This must surely be a short term appointment or a wind up.

Curious, did Dalgleish have any coaching badges when he player-managed Liverpool after Joe Fagan left?

Dalglish took over a championship winning side, nothing much to build, he kept all the championship winning backroom staff and team, and he was a superhero world wide name that the players all idolised...

abit different.

I have a question for anyone who was at the game.

On the whole how was our travelling support yesterday? From what I heard, I thought it was actually pretty vocal, all up until the Rose catastrophe (which is fair enough really).

A couple of posters have suggested otherwise and made some disparaging remarks so I'd like to know from anyone who was there how it really was please. Did we let the lads down or did we give them everything we could considering the reduced ticket allocation?

Support wasn't the best I've ever heard it, but wasn't the worst. Very loud up until the first goal, then a lull. Loud after half time until the Rose mistake and second goal.

It was weird yesterday. Very hostile atmosphere with the Arsenal fans being up above us. Alot of threats and abuse going backwards and forwards. Arsenal not selling beer at half-time didn't help either.
