It wasn't pretty in the first 30 minutes. Once we got started, City looked nowhere near as threatening and we ended the half as the better team. After that it went to a complete shambles (not entirely through our own fault)! :ROFLMAO::cry:

I don't really think there are many issues. We played against a team with better players, and had decisions gone our way we could have gotten a result. I don't think anything's been shown up in this game that we didn't already know - Lennon and Sig go missing on the wings, Dawson is slow, Rose can't cross etc.

Oh, and @Legend10 , you're usually a cool guy, so back off with @Beni please. He's merely saying that the way football works nowadays, he sees why the assistant gave it - and tbh you're coming off pretty brash.

Man city are an awesome team, and we really needed every decision and luck to go our way to stand a chance.

Like I said the decisions are debatable decisions, but could have gone either way, but we would be jumping up and down claiming offside or a penalty if it was us on the other foot.

The game has got a bit too soft, but can see why they want to eradicate the tackle from behind.
My amateur days are probably over now, as I was through on goal, and defender went through the back of me to get the ball but got my knee instead, leaving me waiting for an op for an ACL reconstruction. He never got sent off :)

I am sorry, but this entire thread is bullshit, the only apollogising that should be done is by the club to the fans for the complete and utter cluster fook this club has become.

So you say that's the only apologising that should be done, while apologising. TGL strikes again. Heyooooo

Ladies and Gentleman, I'm sorry but it is a penalty and by the strictest letter of law probably a red card to boot. Harsh but within the laws.

Rose slides in and makes contact with the player first and then the ball. FIFA States that this is a foul and a direct free kick, though as its inside the box its a penalty.

Rose has denied the player a clear goal scoring chance, so red is an acceptable colour.

We might not like it, it might have been a close call, but we cannot sit here and moan about it.

All the European pundits I have heard on Tv here in Germany for example, said it was totally the correct decision.

Don't be ridiculous. We were outplayed. Once again capitulating when a decision does not go our way.

You lot wouldn't be out of place on RAWK.
Sorry Jim' but you speak from your arse, we did not capitulate, christ its hard enough against them with eleven men but with ten men and two down its pretty well impossible but we kkept trying. Did yoi notice how zabsleta made the thitd goal from our left, exactly what Rose had been stopping all night.
Stupid thing to say and just simply wrong.

Ade definitely made contact with the ball. I'm basing that on my own eyes, as my seat is pretty much in line with where the line is drawn, shelfside.

It may not be particularly conclusive on the telly, but at the time I did think it was offside. They may have guessed, as they did with the penalty, but I can at least understand how the offside decision came about.

The penalty. Never.

That wasn't the moment Eriksen played the ball in though. BT put that up at half time. The shot where it shows the ball being played (not the best angle) shows that Dawson is (maybe) level with one City defender.

Excuses, excuses...we were second best....you make your own luck in this game. One for Tim and the lads to learn from hopefully.

There is nothing about where you tackle from in the rules, a tackle made from behind doesn't automatically make ut a foul.

Direct free kick

A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following seven offences in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:

  • kicks or attempts to kick an opponent

  • trips or attempts to trip an opponent

  • jumps at an opponent

  • charges an opponent

  • strikes or attempts to strike an opponent

  • pushes an opponent

  • tackles an opponent

A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following three offences:

Goes on to talk about pushing, spitting at an opponent and deliberate handball.

It's hard enough to beat City at the best of times, let alone when the linesman is disallowing our goals and sending off our players, needlessly.

Fair enough mate, I can understand why you're not a fan of a tackle from behind after that. I was a master of them in youth football (and I still think I am now, but my play style is now more wild Chiriches than composed Kompany), so seeing it eradicated almost breaks my heart. I always got the ball first, but usually left some injuries on the way through - mostly to me though. People called me a hacker, but they were all just jealous of my superb anticipation. :p

And you're right, no team beats a team playing as well as Man City without a stroke of luck, but it's a shame the officials left us with no chance as opposed to some. And although I'd like to think if it were on the other foot, I would take it and say that it was a wrong decision - it's much easier to say that if you were to have won 5-1.The offside one I'd probably be fine with as I heard somewhere that you should give benefit of the doubt to the attacking team, but the penalty I'd be screaming that nowadays you can't tackle from behind, especially in the box.

He doesn't touch Dzeko before he touches the ball:

I presume the officials gave the penalty because they thought Rose got the man (a theatrical Dzeko), not because it was a tackle from behind.

Well that exlains the officials, but it's the pundits who've seen the high zoom, mutli-angle, slow motion replays that I'm wondering about. No one has told me what the BT studio thought.
