How Siggy is still here and wasting game time while Holtby is at Fulham I'll never know.

i fully agree, but i also think it can be seen as a good thing. Holtby getting regular first team football and a lot of team responsibility at fulham can only benefit us. While if it was roles reversed and siggy at craven cottage instead, holtby would be getting bits and pieces of sub football with us which doesnt really help anyone as he wouldnt be able to build on any confidence gained. holtby couldn't save our season today or at benfica, at this point we'd even make messi look toothless infront of goal.

all being said, hopefully we sell siggy this summer to breakeven at least whilst getting back a better equipped holtby for the 14/15 season as well as a competent experienced manager.

The boys played well. Sherwood was awful. Lets be honest, between Sandro and Nabil he pulls Sandro to make room for Paulinho? Why bring on Siggy at all? Chadli was very good and Townshend was okay. And Soldado for Ericksen? Who is more likely to nab a goal?

Lloris - 7 no chance on the goal

Rose - 7 played well

Verts - 7 no complaints

Kaboul - 7 a better captain, IMO, more passion

Naughton - 7.25 great game for the guy

Chadli - 7.5 missed the open net but otherwise fantastic

Nabil - 5 fucking anonymous. It happens sometimes but for christ sake pull him.

Sandro - 7 looking more like the Sandro of old

Ericksen - 6.5 not one of his better efforts.

Townshend - 6.5 grew into the game

Adebayor - 7.25 worked tirelessly

Paulinho, Siggy, Soldado - who cares? Sherwood killed the game with his choices

I honestly believe we could have salvaged at least a point if Sherwood had made the right decisions.

Ade for his constant effort on nearly every play. If everyone had his work rate, we wouldn't be looking for a new manager this summer. Oh, the irony.

MoM Adebayor, always causing Arsenal problems and ran his heart out. Shame his finishing wasn't up to scratch today. Special mention to Naughton who was quality today, great to see him coming along. Chadli was great today and showed what he can do. Townsend struggled 1st half but really drove us forward in the 2nd. Still think he should be on the left and that he's playing too deep on the wing though.

Shame Eriksen, Chadli, Townsend and Adebayor haven't had more game time as a unit. I think if they'd been playing together regularly the link up would be a lot better and you'd see far more balls in to the box finding their man.

That's the first time using that set-up and today we really gave Arsenal a game. Very unlucky to lose, people shouldn't get too worked up about that today. If we keep performing like that week in week out we'll come out best way more often than not

Naughton was alright in the 2nd half but just because he was alright doesn't mean he's good enough. Chadli was shit, Kaboul and Vert were poor and although improved in the 2nd half they just don't seem comfortable for me. Rose was predictable and weak as normal but Adebayor worked very hard for us. Townsend going on silly runabouts and hardly did much if we're honest... Sandro who is just diving in and doing silly things which really hurts to say because he is such a favorite but honestly he hasn't done too much. It hurts because every time March/April comes around we start thinking about next season. Someone needs to step up and be DOMINANT and create MAGIC. It looks as though NONE of our players want this. It's what made Bale so dangerous and one of the best players. He came looking for the ball, got the ball and did something with it. Nobody really wants the ball and nobody wants to take charge. You can see Sherwood trying his heart out but its just not good enough. I want to say 'sign a good left back, sign a tricky, fast striker' but I start thinking about people like Kaboul, Daws, Naughton, Rose, Chadli, Capoue, Sig, Fryers... Are they going to take us to top 4 and when you compare them to teams like Chelsea and City we just can't compete. I don't know who to get and how we're going to get the next class defender or next golden ball winner but I cross my fingers and pray its soon. Not a good season, about to get knocked out of EL and then another year gone by without a trophy.

In NY so only managed to catch ten minutes of the first half and all the second. full back areas are our biggest problem, combined with lack of intelligence in the final third. Naughton seems to be getting plaudits on here but how many times does he let people run in behind him. very indecisive on the ball as well. Rose is poor tbh in most aspects of the game. Also gave away so many stupid free kicks late on to disrupt any sort of momentum. sigudson seems like a nice fella but he's stealing a living. If it wasn't for his ability to pop up with a goal every now and then he wouldn't look out of place in league 2. Chadli's a wierd one, thought he looked ok but there's something missing for him to be a real player. Maybe a change of pace and some aggression/mentality. I thought we deserved a draw atleast however. Seasons pretty much over now tbh though.

Chadli was great up until his miss. He then went into hiding, which is worrying.

I'll do some ratings later when I have more time, initial thoughts though:

Kaboul isn't impressing me. Some atrocious work with the ball, and fairly ropey defending.
Bentaleb was no worse than Sandro.
Naughton and Townsend did well down the right, well by their standards.
The subs... Fucking hell did Paulinho or Sigurdsson touch the ball when they came on?

Effort was there, lacking in mental, technical and tactical nous though.

Naughton has shown recently that he can tackle, cross and is positionally pretty good. Impressed and surprised. A late bloomer, maybe?

Our pitch looked nice.

He actually looked like the player at Leicester and being an attacking threat when he is in the final third

I would argue he put in the best crosses from an spurs player all season in a match

Adebayor obviously but I thought Townsend was excellent. Can receive the ball however much pressure he is under and created danger. Arsenal kicked him a lot. Chadli should have scored from his cross.

Wasn't he playing LB for the majority of his time at Leicester? Definitely remember him being an attacking threat though, and making the Championship team of the year.

We need more guile and brains in the final third that's for sure.

That being said, it was a good performance. Crying shame we couldn't hurt Arsenal when for once the platform, pretty much, was all ours.

We did well to be on the front foot for the majority of the game. Given the beatings of late, that was a decent response all those things considered.

Incredibly frustrating though.

I thought Townsend had one of his best performances in a Spurs shirt in a long, long time. Ok he didn't get the cut back right for Chadli but overall I thought he was full of endeavour.

Fleeting glimpses.

There was just that one moment where he surged through several Arsenal players in the centre of the pitch and I thought 'Bale'. Then he probably lost the ball. I enjoyed the nostalgia.

Worth persevering with ahead of Lennon though, definitely.
