The 1 constant this season whether under avb or Sherwood is wasteful final ball and lack of incision. This tells you it's a squad issue. Don't think coaching helps.

Lloris: 7 No chance with the goal. Great save from Mertersacker.

Naughton: 7.5 Best game by a mile for us.

Kaboul: 6.75 Is slowly improving game by game. Him and Jan haven't looked entirely at home with one an other and the partnership we thought was on the cards looked a long way off. However, today it showed some signs of manifesting itself and hopefully will only get stronger.

Vertonghen: 7 Better. I think Tim's public lambasting has hit home to Jan in particular as he has put in some especially lacklustre performances recently and the very public dress down made him look at himself and his performances. Today was an improvement.

Rose: 6 Erratic.

Eriksen: 7 Generally very good, some quieter moments but is becoming more and more important to us.

Sandro: 4 Now this will be unpopular. I know he is a great guy etc yadda yadda yadda but.....

He is reckless, has amazingly poor control for a professional player. Gives the ball away multiple times when under no pressure whatsoever, constantly sends passes astray. Has an amazing ability to put us under serious pressure and danger of conceding when we seem to be comfortable while he is in possession. I could go on. I remember he took a very long time to consistently show the best of his ability when he joined, I hope he doesn't take as long to get back to his previously high standards.

Chadli: 6.5 Generally good but his composure went out the window today when near their goal.

Bentelab: 4 I honestly nearly forgot to do his rating just now. A reflection of his (lack of) positive influence on todays game. The weight of Tim's belief in him is weighing him down I feel. Tim is putting too much on the youngsters shoulders and should use him less. He has been given too much responsibility too soon and it starting to affect his game imo.

Townsend: 7.5 Solid performance. Worked hard and was committed, still needs to improve his decision making and work on his composure but apart from that, good.

Adebayor: 8 Worked harder then I have ever seen, just couldn't quite seem to work that clear cut opportunity.

Subs: Poor.

Tim: 5 Why the decision to employ a game plan that consists of lots of crossing when they have a 6'7 CB who is especially good at heading clear? The diagonal balls is another one, tells everyone we have been working on it then uses the same tactic three games in a row??!! Absolutely baffling subs today also.

Good game for us.
I didn't mind the Sherwood-outburst in the start. A bit unusual, but he kind of mirrored myself in front of the TV...

Wasn't to happy with the first half, but couldn't believe my eyes the first 25 mins of the second. We were brilliant! Then I thought: "if you have grown as a manager you now sub bentaleb for Soldado"
Didn't ...

The last 15 minutes were chaotic, and the ref blew freekicks on everything.

Adebayor - best I've seen from him.
Eriksen - not a great game, but he is one of the few you just sence can create something.

Our intelligence is still amongst the lowest in the league.

For me the pressing in that second half was the bit I take from this game. We were all around the place - in a good way.

Ade was outstanding - he worked his socks off with pretty much no support and was unlucky not to score, clear MOTM in my eyes

Naughton and Rose both had good games

Chadli should have scored after their keeper fumbled the ball and wasted a couple of good chances to make something happen in the final third - I was disappointed and frustrated by him

I thought we bossed the midfield but they were missing key players and when they had the lead they seemed happy to sit back and allow us to keep the ball in front of them in a non threatening area

To be fair I think we actually dominated unlike the away game earlier in the season when they clearly sat back - yesterday we were pressing them and winning the ball, but yea they were still sat back as the away team with a lead to defend and although we snuffed out their counter attacks after the first half the problem was we really didn't make enough happen and with 90mins of football and over 60% possession in that time I thought we were going to score a total of two times (Chadli and first half when Ade was unable to turn in the cross thanks to Mertesaker's presence)

The positive's - which we haven't seen for some time - were the passion, the players were up for the match and fighting hard. The negatives were the same old lack of quality and creativity, unable to produce any real chances to score and unable to score from what little we did create

The sad fact is for all the money we spent in the summer after the sale of Bale we have clearly gone backwards in that respect - lost some really quality in Bale, Modric and VdV and only Erkisen so far looks like developing into a quality player

Lamela is obviously hard to judge because he hasn't played, but Chadli and Soldado should have been producing some results THIS SEASON, Vlad also is looking like a meh sort of signing at the moment

I still think we can develop some of these - and our other young players - into future stars, but a real opportunity was missed this season with Man U's drop out and it was missed because we brought in the wrong players and in my opinion Levy back the wrong horse when he appointed AVB - now we have to sit back and watch as Liverpool, a team who have been behind us for the last few years take advantage of the transition of the top 4 clubs by building with a talented young manager who has built his team with an exciting and attacking system with players who have a real cutting edge (while we plodded along developing a system that is ineffective in our league in my opinion and have a lack of creativity and cutting edge but an ability to retain possession without doing anything with it as we saw again yesterday)

Some of the ratings on here is as baffling as Shitwood's subs

I completely agree. I do wonder how many are from seeing the game live and how many from the TV. I was at the game and personally i cant see past Ade fro MOM. He worked his socks off to the point he was almost out on his feet in the last 10. I agree Lloris didn't have too much to do but did do a diving header outside the box so thats worth a 7 at least! Verts was sloppy and saved by those around him on a number of occasions. Kaboul grew as the game went on and is our best hope at the back. Alot of praise for Naughton and Rose on here but both of them got taken out of position on too many occasions. Rose was so far out for the break that got their goal and then again a few minutes later when Ox should have made it 2. He is a defender so should be scored accordingly (5 at best). Eriksen was out of position and couldn't get into the game, Sandro won a few but gave a few away too - not his best game, Benteleb was very very quiet and didn't offer a great deal in attack or defence, Townsend is frankly without brain cells. Yes he had a couple of crosses and the occasional run but he misses so many obvious balls/plays that would great better chances and its amazing how many times he trips over the ball for an "England" player. Chadli has got a lot of praise on here but i thouht he was awful, didn't know what to do with the ball once ni the entire game and should have come off sooner. Speaking of subs, the game was crying out for Benteleb and Chadli to come off for Soldado and Paulinho but who comes on? Sig. Why? We haven't seen him in weeks and then the NLD is when he's going to light up? It was a bad decision by Sherwood, when chasing a game throw on players who have a history of scoring not ones who may have a chance at a free kick. This all looks very negative but honestly i thought our second half performance was very spirited and we deserved to take a point from the game, that said Arsenal were poor and we outplayed a team playing average football so we shouldn't get too excited. Again the key for me was a complete lack of shape from us, at times we look like a cub scout team with 4 or 5 players running to the ball and leaving 1/2 the pitch with no players to switch play which means we get bogged down and the tempo stops and the ball goes backwards. There is nobody in the middle of the park dictating the tempo or the play. We need someone who can do what Modric did in that sense, he really has been our greatest loss in the last 10 years+ (much more so than Bale imo, Bale covered the teams cracks with individual brilliance). Not sure where we go now, almost certainly out of the Europa, certainly out of the CL race and likely to finish no higher than 6th in the year the biggest financial pot is divided up. Not a great return and i cannot help thinking we would be in a better position under AVB which just makes it all worse!

If Lennon starts next week I will be massively disappointed after Townsends and Chadli's perfomances today

I would keep the same line up for next week with the exception of swapping Paulinho for Benteleb. I am not sayig that Benteleb is not one for the future, but I wish Timmy would sho the same dedication to other squad members.

lol what is this wank fest for Naughton

Yes he put the odd decent ball in but do me a favour, he's neither strong enough, skilful enough and certainly nowhere near quick enough to be a top class full back

The scum played ball after ball inside him and we/he was left for dead. He is painfully slow for a defender and doesn't make up for it with either fight, mentality or positioning

He is another one of the lower mid table player in our squad of which we now unfortunately have many!!!

Ship him out and replace for better or mid table here we come..... (AGAIN!!)

I agree that he doesn't have the inherent quality required for a RB; e.g. even in his better games he isn't as good as Walker. But to sell we need a good price and i dont know which other lower team needs a RB.

That was so frustrating, it's unbelievable how poor he is at tracking runners, he just has no idea where his man is, it happened in the Benfica game for Rodrigo's goal and I cut him a bit of slack as he was playing left back, but it's just unacceptable at this level.
