Now we are seeing the real stupidity of replacing AVB with Sherwood. What did we gain by that change ?
Dangerously close to a criticism of ODL there. You do know you've flagged yourself up now and they'll be watching you, right?

Be careful what you wish for, better the devil you know :cautious:

After AVB's peachless cobblers and Sherwood's Dembele belly, it would be good to have fine brand of football served up again.

Anyway what has Vertonghen done in the last 12 months to justify a move to Barcelona, little wonder they are looking at Hummels, Luiz and Agger

Agreed. Vertonghen has effectively shot himself in the foot if he wanted his big move with the manner in which he's reacted to shit getting sour. Shit hits the fan for every club, and arguably even worse for the biggest clubs because there's more pressure and more expectation. Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga in record time and made it to the CL semifinals, but because they got housed in a single game by Real Madrid there's already talk of system overhaul. It gets no better elsewhere, Jan.

Lloris is a clever man, he's played lights out and given it his all even when his back line has decided to part like the Red Sea in front of him. If he wanted his move, he made all the right decisions to attract the very biggest of clubs.

Lloris was not only annoyed about the back line but the tactics and attitude of some players. Also the defensive line had no cover and we were exposed too many times! Certain tactics like Eriksen roaming and no DM and/or cover on left left us exposed. Opponents and analyses saw the weakness/frailty or our defensive line, yet it was not dealt with effective/positively by the management team.

I guess in Tim's mind it was attack, attack, attack and no strategy for defense! He thought the best form of defense was attack and left us exposed and had Lloris annoyed and fed up.

PSG was in for him big time but I don't know about the ruling on financial FairPlay...

Yeah we should definitely buy another 5 new players plus maybe another because we have a spare couple of million in the bank. We desperately need more squad disruption and Football Manager style transfer dealings are the best way to go about thing. Uh-huh.

See my later post. High player turnover doesn't have to lead to disaster. Just like giving any manager a load of time means they'll come good. Sure they are good ideals to come by but no sure thing.

I'd love us to keep the majority, thin the squad in bloated areas and buy just a top quality LB, CB or LW and a ST to replace Ade. We might have trouble funding that with the sale of fringe players though.

I certainly would rather the squad I suggested than hoping Soldado and Lamela suddenly hit worldy form or Ade stays and is motivated all season. Oh and Lennon and Townsend suddenly develop some guile and footballing intelligence. Not to mention our full back (lack of talent) and centre back (injury prone) situations.

Think the PSG and FFP is a doubled edged sword with regards to Lloris.

In our favour they can't waltz in offer £30m and get it done if they want to comply in the future. They've got to move towards breaking even which means they'll need to sell to buy.

BUT Lloris counts as home trained for the CL spots and Sirigu wouldn't so that encourages them to go after him.

Knowing us they'll finance buying Lloris by selling Lavezzi to Arsenal for £30m.

Sorry I have to disagree if he is moping around being shit sell him to shitter club not let him make a career move up. He has to perform at a level where another team would have to want to buy him off us.

I don't think a club like Barcelona would come for him, but perhaps a team like Roma.

Personally don't see lloris leaving this year however money talks....

Adebayor linked to Monaco again. Did they get berba as a stop gap but the fans seem to like him however if anyone can afford him just don't know weather that's old links TBF but that's just opinion. Hopefully he does buzz off just to release some of his wages

That is exactly right about Tim's tactics, and he somehow thought one of our horizontal similar players in central midfield was somehow going to figure out how to maintain forward pressure at some point, or think Eriksen would just be able to figure out a way to control the game from the wing. In reality, Eriksen and a few other moments of quality from other individuals are what bailed us out, not what provided any sort of a consistent solution for our problems.

I don't either really. Well, put it this way, I can't see us selling both him and vertonghen in the same window but with levy you just never know.

Are Roma a step up, they are going to struggle and compete with Juve and in the CL they will make the quarter finals at best.

I would rather wait for who the next manager is and perform better and look for a bigger club

What a surprise.. I'm sure Hugo hates playing with the likes of Danny Rose, who wouldn't - and Tim's 'tactics' put so much needless pressure on our defence that there's been personal errors time and again - but it's then easier for Tim to call the players out on that than try to remedy the situation and actually play to his player's strengths.

I can imagine we'll wait for ages hoping someone shinier is available post world cup, but it seems to me psychologically we need to get someone in before everyone buggers off to Brazil so we can at least show the players and the rest that we mean some kind of business...

I truly hope adebayor never ever wears the lillywhite again. Having to put your arm around him for him to play for us and play well. And take the sulky centre half with him . Look how they mess and disrespect our club bill .

Yes, Roma is a step up. They might struggle with Juventus and not make it far in the CL but they are at least in the CL and not getting beat 3 times in a season by West Ham.

I was always under the impression that it was at least rumoured that AVB wanted to quit and we agreed to let him go?

From what the Goat and the Journo are saying, we have a major problem on our hands and anything short of a big-name HC or Manager will quell the unrest. I'm hoping FdB knows enough of our foreign contingent and commands enough respect to pacify the situation.
