Regardless of the result that is the best I have seen England play in a major tournament in a decade and they should not fear Uruguay or Costa Rica at all

Far more positives than negatives

Yep. It was a pretty encouraging performance, and I'm looking forward to our game against Uruguay.

If Henry didnt have a french accent he would not be on the BBC

then again I take it back considering Neville is on there
I wish that media organisations would stop their policy of using ex footballers for all new commentators. Far too many have no personality, can't convey what they're trying to get across, or are just plainly too stupid or biased.

I'd much rather listen to a nerd like Statto than almost all of current crop.

Finally, some sense in here. You don't see the Spain fans crying that their tournament is over.
No one is crying but the old players are holding us back imo and England created more chances against Germany in 2010

For the next match it has to be imo:
Sturridge

Lallana Barkley Sterling

Henderson BitchStewie

Baines Cahil Jagielka Johnson

Hart

We are looking exposed for a lack of DM, sad Barry didnt make the grade after a great season for a positive football team

Thought we were very good. It was obviously a plan to play measured football in the first half and then come out more in the second. Obviously Balotelli's goal did for that and we didn't have enough guile to break down a team that stuck 476 men behind the ball.

Thought Barkley looked raw but exciting - like Rooney did when he first broke through. And Welbeck didn't offer enough going forward. Lallana and Barkley for Welbeck and Rooney and I'd be delighted.

I still think we should have enough to make it through the group.

I think England will qualify. They've got more going for them than Uruguay and I can see an England win next week.
But Costa Rica have pace if england play like they do today Costa Rica will hurt them on the counter

Really good showing by Sterling and Sturridge, also Barkley looked good when he came on. I'm really enjoying watching the young prospects instead of the same old disappointing regulars we've seen over the years.

2 major problems though, still not defensively solid enough and lack of balance. We seem to have too many players who want to play in that central number 10 role. We can't keep pushing players out wide during the game and expect consistency. We should know who plays where by now but Roy clearly has no idea who to play out wide and who to play central.

Shout out has to go to prandelli - canny fucker.

The only time I've ever been disappointed with him was in the Euro final 2 years ago. Should've gone back to the 3-5-2 where we did well against Spain in the group stage. Otherwise, he's been very good.

I'd like to see him take over at Juve eventually after Conte leaves.

First part is true, but I think its more likely that England get no points than they advance this year. Uruguay has as much talent, but more overall speed and energy, and while England should beat CR, if England lose to Uruguay, I can see them wilting under the heat and humidity in a third game.

Clearly getting a result against Uruguay is a must.
