Like Ben Davies, he's a good young player, gets forward, quite good defensively too (saw some very impressive stats from his debut season) and definitely an upgrade on what we have. Plus, he's the type of signing we should be going for. He's under the radar but yet firmly established in a top league. He's not the latest transfer rumour, like Alberto Moreno from Sevilla, who is valued up the wazoo, but he has potential to go on to be worth a shed load.

This is the Darren Bent argument. Except Bent's record was even more prolific I believe.

Remy is an ordinary footballer with a goal scoring rate that isn't even better than a player we have here already.

That is bad economics.

That's bad facts.

We paid (supposedly) twenty eight million for Soldado, and the return on investment is woeful. The rest of your post makes sense if Spurs (or Levy) want's to invest in the future. I just don't see that given that we are on something like our tenth manager in a dozen or so seasons (i think). Planning for the future is not something Levy has done regarding stewardship of the first team managers or players.

That is bad economics.

Ben Davies isn't the most spectacular LB we could sign but he is reliable and will do what he's told to do. He's a better passer of the ball than Rose and far better at reading the game. He's not as quick and not as much of a threat going forward. Arguable Rose is the better tackler but in spite of this Davies is much harder to get past as he is rarely out of position and doesn't commit himself rashly.

Overall, Rose has the physical advantages while Davies has all the mental ones. Mental is more important. He'd be an upgrade on Rose.

Now you say that, but for me Rose looks more of a threat going forward than he actually is; according to the Torygraph stats page Davies created a chance every 95 minutes, Rose one every 135. Davies had fewer shots, but got a much better percentage on target. The reality is that Rose creates no more than Naughton, and a good deal less than Walker. Considering he started off as a winger, that's not that great.

So Stobart is saying that we are in talks with Swansea to sign Davies and Bony. We could still get Remy, and we want Lovren . Swansea want Siggy on loan. We won't get Lukaku as the relationship between the two clubs is shite. We might sell Soldado and Dawson but we don't want to sell Ade, and Bentaleb and Townsend feature majorly in Poch's plans. Also, he's spoken to most of the players individually. Oh, and Poch apparently saw instantly that we needed a CB, LB and Striker, which is good.

Goal.com journo Greg Stobart has put out an article that pretty much summarises SC-ITK for the summer so far. Good read however and it has been suggested he is connected rather than just a forum reader. Decent bloke to follow on a certain unmentionable site too.

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892...ttenham-open-talks-over-bony-ben-davies-moves

Seems like he's asked about Davies today and has been told of interest but no deal as of yet (ties up with JJ?). Interesting notes on us wanting Bony and them Sigurdsson, but Poch waiting to assess squad. Also mentions Dawson off and Lovren being top CB target, and Poch telling Nabil and Andros that they have a part to play.

I may be alone but to me at least everything this guy writes seems to be dead obvious or lifted from these forums, can't say I would treat anything he says with anything other than extreme scepticism

Stobart is connected. I might not be ITK anymore, but I know who he is connected to and what he says carries weight for sure

I guess its a concern however I think an ITK backed his info up before (might be crossed wires with Burt though). Was also spot on with some of the negative Bale news last summer sadly which some ITKs weren't (or stayed away from).

Edit: Cheers Ryan. Good news.

Agreed; afterall Stobart was the first one to confirm Poch signing as manager, even before other journo's or our own ITKs

In all fairness to Rose he said or implied that he didn't like busting a gut in training whilst Benny LOLLED around and then never get a look in. He might respond differently to competition which actually competes rather than being automatically selected. Or he might not, I don't know, but I can understand frustration at being behind Benny.

Benny may have been so laid back that he was practically standing on his head, but up to the season before last he was vastly superior to Rose as a footballer and defender. It really was no contest. Furthermore, he (and for that matter Leapy before him) coped perfectly well with a nominal LM drifting into the middle of the park and leaving him exposed.

Agree its a good goals total from the squad but Suarez played 33 games in the league last year and got 31 goals didnt he? Also he got 19 assists in all competition so thats over 50 goals u take away if he leaves!

They may struggle next year also juggling european football and premier league games! Sorry to go off topic there but spurs wont get a 20 plus goal striker for less than 20m fact! If they do it will be a young striker eg Lukaku who will develop into a top striker!

You have to pay top top money to get the best strikers and we cant unfortunately. We have to either buy from the tier just below or pick up talents and hope they develop into top players ala Bale!

And yet Villa got Benteke for 7 million, or so.

I find that hard to belive, JJ was very early with confirming or at least strongly suggesting that it would be Pochettino.

Can't believe that people think Lukaku is over-rated.
He's 21 and scored 15 goals in 29 starts last season and the season before; He scored 17 goals in 20 starts.

32 goals in the last 2 seasons in the PL from 49 starts.

Which 21 year old has had that record ever?

Jimmy Greaves had 132 goals by the time he was 21 - including 42 goals in 42 games for Chelsea when he was 21.

But we do, for the most part, continually operate a transfer policy with inherent future value at it's core. Certainly value is always a factor.

Soldado was no where near 28m. More like 13-15m (according to some ITK on here) up front with the rest loaded into performance related add ons.

You think if we were paying 28m it would have taken three months ?

Remy is going cheap. But sometimes cheap isn't value if you have to chuck it away and buy a new one a year or two later.
