Has Levy ever put a release clause in a contract? Modric and Bale seemed to have agreements that we would listen to offers but I can't think of anyone who's had a set fee. I think we'll have him for at least two years of that contract at a minimum, Levy likes to make players stay an extra year when they first ask to move on.

@JayDub Can you answer my question if I've said something wrong? Cheers.

By the end of the season I expect the team to have moved, considerably, towards his standard.

That's fair. Hopefully we've not sold him down the river with lies like we've done with a fair few players over the past few years and actually mean it this time.

The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino is important as well. I have a good feeling with him. He is also ambitious.

What do all of the ranters who endlessly barked on about our best players doing a runner if we got tino have to say now?

Man-up to your foolish ways.

Poch won't be 'avin any funny business and I think Levy actually trusts this one so I'm envisioning harmony across the board.

Sounds like he's been promised a lot - let's hope he gets it, he deserves it.

Probably the number 2 keeper in the world right now, and frankly far too good for us. Wonderful to not only have a player of his talent at the club but also his intelligence and class, with leadership skills.

Sends out a great message, and might well be the best bit of business we do this summer.

Absolutely the best bit of business without a shadow of a doubt.

Vitally important we keep him and have a keeper of his standard, as we then have to strive to match his quality with what we put directly in front of him.

This is a humongous deal for us.

What lies have we sold players? I don't think we've ever told players we're going to be ambitious and then failed to live up to it. We have always been ambitious, increasingly so. It just so happens that when Man Utd or Real Madrid come along, these players would still prefer those clubs as they are hugely successful domestically and continentally while we are only just beginning to make some progress towards their heights.

I think you'd find plenty of people to disagree with that. There's a popular opinion that Jan Vertonghen, Hugo Lloris and Andre Villas Boas were very much sold a dream that was never realised, particularly with a view to player recruitment. I guess we'll never know, but there were certainly plenty of people 'in the know' suggesting that was the case last summer and/or the one before

I'm sure there are plenty of people who disagree. Thankfully for the future of our club, they are wrong.

I am tumescent. He was way too good to join us in the first place. Staggered he's re-upped so quickly. The planets aligned for us And not against us for once.

When he signed for Lyon in 2008, it did so to win trophies. He won nothing for 4 years, then in 2012 he won a Cup, and left for us. So, we shouldn't try to win anything.:D
