New Manager known for an entertaining brand of footbal and working with youngsters.
Our best player signs a new contract, our 2nd best player is on the verge of signing a new deal.
Great news on the stadium front.
But instead of feeling positive WE are moaning that we may not be overly active in the transfer window or make any marquee signings one year on from spending £107m (don't talk to me about net spend).
We're a very special bread of human aren't we ? Haha

Not all of us are moaning about the potential new signings or lack of activity. Some of us have been very happy with the positive news coming from the club this past week. But agreed there are some people that like to have a good moan anyway regardless! Onwards and upwards and I for one cant wait to see the team in action this weekend

No matter what way you slice it, we're not spending enough dough. You want jam on it?

I can't speak of Lascelles as I don't really know him, but Davies is not an exciting young talent in my eyes. He's an average footballer that won't improve us.
I don't ask for players like the ones you've mentioned. I think there are several non expensive players we could get.

But, we have been spending absolutely nothing this past windows, and we've already sold for 14m. And we will sell more.
I would prefer to spend all of it in a player that would improve us, than to spend it in 4 average players. For example I prefer to spend 20m in Ricardo Rodriguez than 10 in Davies and 10 in J Rod

Wrong. We haven't spent money we don't have. There's a very big difference.

One presumes our new manager has had some input into the Davies signing. Great vote of confidence you've given him.

Why do people imagine Rodriguez would want to make a sideways move to us?

And by spending £20mill on one player guarantees success does it?, we've been down this road before.

I saw both play in League One at the same age as their introductions to senior football and Caulker looked far the better prospect. He just stood out. Not every player develops at the same rate and I have only seen him play a couple of times since for Forest, but Caulker showed more promise at that age in my opinion. I don't think we would be getting a shit-hot prospect, but he may be someone who has developed later that we see as a 'project'. We shall see.
How does Lascelles compare to Fryers in your opinion?

As a comparison right now I haven't seen enough of either recently to be honest. I only saw 2-3 games of Lascelles last year and as for Fryers I thought he did awful for the u21's when he first came here but he has done better in the senior team. Still haven't seen enough of him at centre back but I think he should be persisted with for now, he at least has pace which is something we are lacking.

If Ben Davies is such an average player, then why are Liverpool, a Champions League team and last season's PL runners up, looking to sign him.

I think there are many people on here who think we are a much bigger club than we actually are.

Well we're going to have to make some cutbacks if we're building a new stadium, and we're also not the big stature we need to be to convince players to join regardless. Yes, Ricardo Rodriguez would improve us, yes Antoine Griezmann would improve us, yes John Stones would improve us, but these would all cost a lot of money that we don't really have.

Ben Davies is an exciting young talent, as is Lascelles. They're not world-beaters, but we're in no position to sign world beaters. We seem to be taking an approach that a club of our positioning should - we're taking calculated risks that can be written off as admissible should they go wrong. It is what we should, and kind of have to do.
According to German Media Ricardo Rodriguez is available for 14m. Would rather sign just him than Davies & Lascelles.

Fryers is a prime candidate to go on loan IMO. He hasnt yet had a run of 10-15 first team games in english football as of yet. He needs to be 'battle-hardened' , Lacelles comes with those games under his belt which would be a huge plus.

Even an average LB will improve us a good deal in my eyes. And, since that LB who is "average" is only 21 years old it makes me think that there is definitely room for growth and the potential to look even better in a side with better talent. Just a thought, though.

If you look at Rodgers buying history, it's hardly inspiring.

The scum were a CL club when they signed Gervinho.

I like Davies and would be happy enough if we sign him, but your argument above falls a bit flat when you remember they bought Andy Carroll:LOL:

Agree with this soo much! Hes a good LB and one of our weakest positions is left back. Hes an upgrade on Danny Rose IMO and we presume the manager wants him.

I for one want this to happen and can't see us getting a much better LB as alot of clubs are looking for one plus we dont have champions league *sigh* :(

It's not a sideways move, its a move to a better league, playing more games per season against tougher opposition.

So if tomorrow we're signing O'Shea, our new manager must've had some imput. I would assume you'd be OK with it.
