I think if we both came to an agreement that meant that River Plate got little money, because we structured it in an almost unethical way, then we could probably both be deemed to have screwed them. A screwing collaboration if you like.
I agree but we have no interest in doing that, we'd rather just pay the money and take the player so it would be at Villareal's instigation and we'd have been forced into it hence we go to River Plate and cut out Villareal next time, River Plate would get more money so they'd be happy with that.
The thing is, as I said in the player thread, it is not in Villareal's long term interest to screw River nor would it be not to sell the player so ultimately they should take the agreed amount and look to the future. That'd be my pitch to them anyway.

Actually, if you look at past accounts, you'll see that we're running at pretty much break-even, all the profit from player sales, such as it is, is being spent.

It's amazing how so many large companies 'break-even' when they have to pay tax on their profits...

I'm not really interested in a Townsend/Remy swap.

I look at Townsend, and then at the improvement Poch got from the likes of J-Rod, Ward-Prowse, Davis etc, and I want to see if he can have that effect on him. I think there is some truth to Remy being a bit of a mercenary too, whereas Townsend loves the club - Spurs through and through, desperate to be a success here - and you need a few of those at the club amonst the imports, otherwise the identity in the dressing room can be lost.

Needs to couple that with improvement on the pitch though. Its great that he's Spurs through and through and I hope Pochettino can improve him, and others, but I've always had my doubts and never been convinced that he could to take his game to the next level. Of course I hope I'm wrong and he does but he's not that young anymore and still seems to exude that he's more interested in personal gain on the pitch than team gain, so to speak.

Until that changes I won't ever be that impressed in all honesty, but he has my full support and I hope Pochettino can affect his game in that regard.

I am ambivalent towards Remy/Townsend swap. I guess it really comes down to where Ade is, how much will Kane contribute, and how likely will we go and get Rodriguez in January.

I have a good feeling about Ade this year, I am probably less optimistic about Kane than many, so it comes down to Rodriguez for me - I'd prefer to get a healthy Rodriguez on January 1, than Remy right now. But, if we do not think Roidriguez is likely then I could see Remy as an option.

Northampton Town have signed Tottenham goalkeeper Jordan Archer on loan until January.

Remy/Rodriguez wouldn't overlap with ade and only slightly with Kane though. They would be bought to play LWF, not ST

JJ's ITK is not surprising. All the profits, prize and tv money last year probably went toward the stadium and operating expenses. This years prize and tv money probably is/will go toward the stadium and operating expenses as well. So I doubt we'll spunk alot of money in this window. Unless, of course, Daniel and Joe are desperate to see CL football at the lane one more time.

Wow. Blown away by that.

Who'd have thought there was someone who didn't know what Sloth did for a living.

Have I mentioned it before BC?! Of course if I had a name such as Bet Conductor, I wouldn't have to mention it, we'd all know, all the time... which route are you on btw? Must be a route-master one obviously!! :p
