@Grey Fox :
Club hoping we can wrap MM by the weekend, MS will probably have to wait until season has kicked off could well be a deadline day jobby. £20m figure for each has been mentioned, but could end up a Mill or two either way.

Sunderland have enquired about Daws and Naughton.

Good news from Grey Fox, I'd say. Hope we don't role the dice on waiting until deadline day for MS. Lord know that tactics has an inevitable way of biting us hard on the ass. If it is indeed a strategy, it's a bloody poor one, that only seems to work one in ten times. Hard to say of the two who would be more important. I guess that's 'cos we don't really have any gaping holes for the start of the season. I'm more than comfortable to start the season with a CB pairing of Vertonghen and Kaboul. And midfield pairing of Capoue and Dembele. All four are very, very good players that can get a win for us over the Spammers and QPR. As for Liverpool... not sure. Much depends on how well the players have adapted to a new system. Fingers crossed.

If MM can be done by the weekend then the stories of the huge issues over the price must have been massively, and unsurprisingly, exaggerated.

As for Schneiderlin, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hope we have some alternatives lined up because it's a risky business waiting for deadline day.

Oh, we do love a 3rd party transfer debacle don't we...
Indeed we do though we need to remember the fundamental difference between now and the Moutinho case, this time we have the one! the only! THE deal closer extrordinaire! Franco Baldini!!!
Seriously it's one of the reasons he was brought in, never underestimate the value of a closer, this will make the difference.

Don't be daft TSH. When have we ever been burned by waiting til the last second? Never, that's when.

By the way, did I ever tell you guys that I am best mates with Frazier Campbell. Go way back.

If we end up with Musacchio and Schneiderlin it will feel like the most complete window ever. And what a platform to give our new manager.

Good news on MM.

Moustachio, Dier, Vertonghen plus one of Dawson/Chiriches/Kaboul should see us okay for a while, with Velkjovic also in the frame long term.

Just leaves us to work out what's happening in midfield. I hope we've got a plan there because it's the hub of the team and I'm not sure we've got it sorted at the moment.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure I see Schneiderlin happening anymore. Things could change if Southampton are able to find what they consider to be decent replacements. They've done well with Taider, and Fer would go along way with that as well. But if they stop at Taider, keeping Schneiderlin makes sense.

I'm not even sure what our backup plan would be given it appears Poch really wants Schneiderlin. It'll be interesting to see if he might have other options in mind or if he can be convinced of a different player as opposed to Schneiderlin (Jordy Clasie, perhaps?).

I also believe that Musacchio is the most important transfer we can make at this point. We desperately need a CB to pair with Vertonghen and he appears to fit the bill and is wanted by Poch.

I don't think there will be alternatives. It's him or stick with what we have IMO.

More good news from The Goat about Musacchio.

Not such good news about Schneiderlin.

Perhaps the board know the defence needs urgent attention (daws getting on, Poch unsure on Vlad and kabs fitness) and is willing to spend regardless on this area. Whereas we're well stocked in midfield and strengthening here IS probably largely dependent on funds / squad space from outgoings

Good news on the centre back. I think it's an important position we need to get right.

Yeah, but it still leaves us short a CH.....and the thread was pretty adamant that we needed one of those last week. Almost as much as we need a RCF this week.

Still think Schneiderlin is a deal to be done and, I maybe wrong, but Pochottino strikes me as a man who will work with what he has rather than get in someone he doesn't want and will wait until he gets his man.

Schneiderlin looks like going right to the wire.

Just listened to Freddy Kruger on Radio 5 and he's still adamant that he's not for sale and they're looking to build round MS and J Rod.

He would say that though and whilst he answered yes to MS being involved against Liverpool he didn't go any further by saying he'd still be there come September 2nd for example. Sometimes its more what people are not saying.

I guess they have a price and not a penny less sort of thing and that does not leave our Danny with much room to fiddle with.

Anyway, get MM in first and foremost and then hope for MS.
