I have a feeling come deadline day suddenly he will end up at arsenal. They will be waiting until Southampton accept he can go then will out bid and out wage us on him. Similar to Ozil, it's all gone too quiet at the library again.

Modric was made a promise by Levy, that the club that reneged on, and was given no end of abuse for the way he acted.

MS seems to be doing a similar thing and a lot of us who had very strong views on the Modric saga, seem to be ok with it. I personally don't like it when a player behaves like this, as he may well do the same here in a couple of seasons when our special partners come knocking.

But the bottom line is, I really want us to get MS. It's a sad reality of the modern game, and when it works in your favour it's easier to accept than when it's one of your own.

At the end of the day we all just want the best for our own team.

Although your points on modric are valid you also fail to mention that lil luka signed a 6 year deal just 3 months earlier. You also fail to mention that Chelsea offered nowhere near our estimated valuation until the very end of the window.

Chelsea offered more than we sold him to Madrid...

And since when has Danny boy had an issue with selling for the right price, late in the window?

Did we go in for Ozil?

I think the fact that we've been fucked over so many times is why we're happy we're doing it ourselves. It's unbelievably hypocritical but it's something we're not used to so we'll enjoy it while we can. We all know that in a few years (or less) Barca and Madrid will probably be after the likes of Vertonghen, Lloris, Eriksen and Lamela so we might as well get some enjoyment over this saga. Most footballers are ****s but there's nothing you can do about it.

At least its honest, human but still a bit shit... tbh

From what i am told this morning some of this is our doing. MS was told he could go, we put in a lowball offer, Saints rejected with a firm WTF! attached. And now Saints are pissed off and are deciding to make a stand now, they have got what they wanted for each of the players that have left. MS is being guided by his agent. While this may well end up with MS coming our way, we have made ourselves a real pain in the arse to talk to and do business with.
This may not bother most people but for some reason i am starting to get a little bothered by it all.

MS signed a new contract last season. I doubt DL's offering anywhere near Southampton's MS valuation.

The only difference which counts is that we were proving our ambition, strengthening the squad and looking to push onwards and upwards, Southampton have done the opposite, and so there's no way they could persuade the player that personal ambitions can be achieved by sticking at the club.

We're always a pain in the arse to do business with. There's no sentiment with DL, he is a bit different like that. At the same time there's nothing personal, just the rules of the game.

The issue for us as a club is that for all he does well for us there's a sense that because he doesn't get emotion, doesn't get humans, he sometimes misses out on the externalities - positive or negative - associated with every deal; he sometimes doesn't see the value because all he can understand is the price.

I'd be bothered by this if CM was a position of real need for us.

It isn't. So this can be less our problem. Let our current CMs audition to stay in the side till January, absolutely fine by me.

What Levy is doing is no different to what old rednose did to us with Berbatov. Pitch low and play mind games with the player. Same with Real Madrid and Modric & Bale. Levy held out got his price and our team (and supporters) suffered. I hope Southampton play the same game with us. If you want to be a big club and want another teams player you have to pay the price. To be fair I admire Liverpool for their approach. They have done the work, paid the money and they have the benefit of pre-season with them

I think this is one big clusterfuck that has been handled badly by Southampton and Schniederlin. Some of you lot licking your chops at Schniederlin going on strike would be fucking apoplectic at the tosser if he was doing that to us. Bottom line is, this **** is still being paid a kings fucking ransom to do a job the rest of the world would dream of. It's not like we are fucking ManU or RM. By all means ask for a move, but get in to work and do the job you're paid for.

This shit sets a dangerous precedent that I don't like at all. If we get CL and ManC decide to nick Poch of us, it will be us paying Schnierlin's wages while he sulks for a move to City.

On the other hand Southampton have behaved like two bob amateurs. If it;'s not asset stripping then it's the worst piece of football stewardship we've seen for quite a while. They've sold everything that moves and the only reason they are pissing in Schniederlin's wind is it's us and we are refusing to meet their 75m valuation. What did they think would happen if the sold every **** worth wank. Bit harsh expecting Schniederlin to stay behind and play the last woalz whilst their titanic sinks slowly.

But he's picked us over arsenal. I'll forgive him

Why were they pissed with our low offer, why didn't they just say no and tell us what they want, you know negotiate. I don't understand this at all.

Before I start this, I don't know a lot about Schneiderlin, how good he was etc, but I was thinking, and I'm not sure if I'll put this down right, but if schneiderlin was a good player, then developed into great under poch, do we need him if we already have some good players? Surely poch could turn one of dembele, sandro, capoue or even paulinho into an even better player, or was Schneiderlin better than those when poch took over soton? Like I said I don't much about him, just that we have some very good players in his position just now. Kinda comparing Schneiderlin to when poch took over sotonto our current crop I mean.

I don't believe in the Soton storry that Spurs were only offering £10M. If that was the case, why was MM so upset over Soton going back on their promise (of selling him)? For sure MM would not have considered that he was closet to a Spurs move if that was all Spurs had to offer; as it would never had lead to anything remotely close to looking like a transfer, not to talk of an imminent one...

Schneiderlin is a pretty special player. His level of work rate and stamina/athleticism is hard to find in football period. Let alone when combined with an all around football skill set. I like the players we have, but I'm not sure if any can handle the role Schneiderlin was given as it is incredibly demanding physically. Let alone if one of our players could lead the league in distance travelled as well as tackles + interceptions like Schneiderlin has.
