Welbeck words hard and his movement is excellent, he makes space for other attacking players with his runs that pull defenders out of position

My concern is his goal scoring record itself has not been great although if we do sign him I will be supportive as he's young and his work ethic means he's the type of player who could develop well and thrive under a manager like Poch in the type of system he will likely implement

Could also help other players improve

I'm not expecting it to happen, nor would it be the move I want but if it does happen I won't be against it and it wouldn't surprise me if he proved a success much like Sturridge did for Liverpool having been less effective at clubs like Chelsea and City
He is just the English answer to Pav

If that's your benchmark I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! :)
I've watched him and anyone who thinks he would be a good signings needs to re-evaluate. Over the last couple of seasons we have added the likes of Lloris, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Lamela, etc. they are the bracket of player we should be looking at not players who even playing at their best are not really good enough

According to DiMarzio, the selections of players to be in the squad and not was a clear indication of which players may leave. He went on to say that the transfer window is dictating Pochettino's choices. The players not in the squad include Townsend, Sandro, Dawson, Chiriches, Paulinho, Mason, Fredericks & Fryers. Going off of his words, it's notable that Chadli was chosen, and went on to have his best match for Spurs.

He is just the English answer to Pav
I don't really get the comparison to Pav

They're not similar to each other in any way - work rates are on opposite ends of the spectrum and Pav's only real strength seemed to be his natural finishing ability which seems one of Welbeck's biggest flaw

As I said he wouldn't be my choice, I am just highlighting my opinion that he's not as bad as he's been perceived in recent times (largely because he was drastically over rated because he was a UTD product and has failed to maintain his early success)

While he's not the player I would pick he's not as bad as the average fan thinks, he looks bad because of his lack of goals in the past couple of seasons but if you watch his game there are things he does well (as I said his work rate is very high and he's movement is great for creating space for others plus he's versatile and willing to play across the front line)

I do think he has the potential to work well in the Poch system and Poch could develop him into a good player though I doubt he'd ever be a real star player nor would I want him to cost huge money - he's not similar to Pav in anyway though they're as opposite in their styles of play as they are in their skin tones in my opinion

welbeck just came on for united. would he really be brought on if a move was imminent?
Van Gaal really needs to win this game - if he thinks Welbeck can help him win the game I doubt he gives two shits about jeopardising a potential move for him

No one has ever said ever that a move was imminent.

Welbeck 'reportedly' has in the press.

I like Welbeck but I don't see why we need him when we already have Kane.

After Chadli's performance today, I would rather bring in an understudy, someone in the mould of Redmond... instead of wasting £15m on Welbeck who isn't a natural wide player.

Welbeck just isn't a good fit with our attacking four. We need fluid attackers who can pick out passes with both feet and dribble in traffic, while also being able to shoot with both feet. Chadli can do all of that, Lamela and Eriksen can do all of that, and Adebayor and Soldado are both better goal scorers at CF than Welbeck, too. He just isn't a good fit. We'd be better off signing Remy for half of that, and using the remaining money to really go after Schneiderlin or Schar.

and also gards on andros: Southampton upped there offer around 12m
10 + 12m? that would be a deal. too bad. 12m is an okay offer and a good one for them to make. we won't accept til about 15 I'd suspect though.

12 million for Townsend
12 million for Sandro
4 million for Dawson
6 million for Chiriches

Those are the numbers being bandied about for these players. That's enough to cull the squad and sign Remy, Fazio, and possibly Schneiderlin. Would be great business in my opinion.

Trix on coys:

I posted early in the matchday thread that I had had a fairly in depth convo with my mate this morning but would wait topost it until after the game because i wanted to explain it all as I heard it.

At the start of Poch's new adventure he sat down with Baldini and Levy and they went through what he thought he needed, and also where he thought we could lighten the load in the squad(position wise). Poch targeted the back four as his largest area of concern and also said he would like 2-3 upgrades(his own players in if possible. He obviously knew we weren't opperating on a Oil rich budget, and the three of them worked worked out what they believed to be the players in questions values Poch had a lot of input in this because he knew the players best.

The back four is seriously being adressed with 2 in already, and at least another one, possibly two still to come in. The others(the ones that Poch specifically wanted have proved much more difficult than we expected and although Poch is frustrated by this, he is happy that Levy has gone OVER the amounts they discussed originally, trying to get two of them in.

Outgoings

Nothing new really, Sandro and BAE and Dawson are just not in Poch's plans going forward. Even if they stayed they would get minimal game time(BAE none at all, he is done) and even then it would need quite a few injuries for this to happen. He doesn't see either Lennon or Townsend to be a good fit at WF although they both could offer something in certain games and is happy to keep hem but doesn't need both. Levy is a big fan of Azza though so make your own minds up on which one will be pushed more than the other. That said I think if good offers came in both could go. Naughton, Holtby, Soldado, and a couple of others would all also be available at the right price but Poch is happy for them all to stay.

J-Rod

I know there has been ITK from others saying he is not for this window, but I have been very reliably informed that Poch is pushing for him now. His rehab has gone very very well(as I have been posting) and it is believed that he will be back playing properly in the next 3-4 weeks. With his contract length and his refusal to sign a new deal he could well be available now, and Poch does want him, and his versatility is a big plus to being able to reduce the squad.

MS

I can't go into too much detail but I heard something that makes me far more optomistic about us getting him than say others that are getting their info from inside of Spurs. He has NOT accepted he is staying there and is STILL pushing for the move he was promised. His tweet slagging the club is STILL on his oficial twitter timeline and his people are looking into certain aspects of his contract that may have been broken by the club, and I can't say much more than that, other than it may be best for everyone to let him go.

Like I said nothing particularly new but I thought it was worth posting in detail especially the stuff regarding Levy going OVER Poch's valuations to get him the players he wants.

Sorry I don't have any incoming names for you all, but I would be amazed if we don't bring in at least two more before the window closes. As always I just pass on what I hear and like all of you hope we pull off what we need for Poch to get us to the next level.

Very happy about the MS stuff. I can't personally see us getting Rodriguez and I doubt we'd sell Soldado (unless we are looking at a central striker, and it seems we aren't), Naughton (because we need competition at RB) and Holtby (because Poch wanted him at Southampton)

A good result today and some good play but we shouldn't get carried away by beating a very poor QPR at home comfortably. We were given a lot of time and space and they offered little threat. The one weakness we showed even then was aerially in defence at corners, but whilst we can be happy at a good result we will face much stronger opposition than today and will generally be denied that much time and space and have to cope with that much more goal threat than today

Great performance today, but your right in that we shouldn't get carried or think we still don't need strengthening.

My biggest worry is that an injury to Ade will leave us exposed as we have no one who can give us what he does.

If we bring in Fazio and one other, and with Dier performing exceptionally well at right back, I can see Naughton being let go if we receive a bid circa £5-6m for him.
