The same things happened with Modric
Certain fans knee jerked against him because he didn't set the world on fire straight away and cost a lot of money
(remember the "he's no better than Steed" type comments?)
Then these same fans are so stubborn they refuse to change their position and admit they were wrong or at least over reacted and were too quick to judge that they continue to look for any reason to continue to refuse to acknowledge the players talent, down play his good times, focus on the less good times (Modric only turns up at home etc)
They have confirmation bias and only look for things that support their own views and in spite of the fact they're SPurs fans themselves and its actually in their own interest for the player to be a success they stick stubbornly to their position that he is shit and a waste of money because they're planted their flag in that side of the argument and refuse to admit they were wrong (cutting their nose of to spite their face to the extent they'd actually rather he play poorly so they can say I told you so than see him be a success and have to be wrong in their assessment)
Andros will return to his pre injury form
It is foretold in the stars.
Is that because that's where most of his shots end up?
I said "type comments" as in that was one example of the sort of comments made against Modric to dismiss his talent who we all know went on to be a superstar CL winnerThat was a comment, not comment"ssssszzz". No "s", just one poster who believed that. Fortunately I forget his name.
that is an issue. But I reckon he was given that remit by his then current managers.
He has a good football brain. I just hope we get to see it used properly because he has the skills.
I cant imagine any manager gave him that remit, "Hey Andros, any chance when you get near the goal you just kick it out the ground?" "No problem boss!".

yes, i trying to draw attention to the poster who actually said those words.I said "type comments" as in that was one example of the sort of comments made against Modric to dismiss his talent who we all know went on to be a superstar CL winner
I'm sorry, if you think he'll improve and should be given a chance then fair enough. But he does not have a football brain in any way whatsoever. Unless you think running towards the corner flag, turning and running back again is indicative of a football brain.
He's basically Defoe on the wing and in order to justify his place he has at the very least to make the most of his biggest asset and start turning some of his powerful shots into actual goals (or even making the keeper work on a regular basis would be a start).
There's nothing wrong with getting it wrong about a player - I am sure we all have from time to time, it's the nature of an opinionated passionate fan (which we all are to be on a forum like this) to express both pros and cons of players as we see them and no one can be right about everything all the timeI got Modric so wrong...took me nearly two years to see what others who are far more astute in these matter had seen. So its never too late to change your attitude and admit you're wrong. I am though struggling with Andros ATM....

I would much rather a manager tell him - your job from an attacking perspective is to get to the byline and put a cross in, nothing else!
When he's done that consistently for a season then we can see about other things. But until then, he fails so badly at the basics of playing that position.
Where have you seen that he is a very good crosser of the ball...?The whole invert winger thing was damaging to his reputation in eyes of people like you. Tbf you only saw what he was instructed to do at the time. I don't blame you for thinking this.
But he is a decent winger. And a very good crosser of the ball.
Pacey with a trick and an eye for goal. He has 2 extra facets that Lennon doesn't have.
Right now Townsend is a million miles behind Sterling in terms of his version and footballing intelligence - so much he'd need to learn to be as good as Sterling, i'm not sure it's feasible. He'd need to develop them ability to read the game and anticipate movement in the same way Sterling can, his own movement would have to become on par with a top striker like Sterlings is and his passing would have to improve dramaticallyI can't disagree mate. But the game has moved on. Look at sterling. He is fucking awesome.
Sometimes you need to roam. If Townsend is told to check his natural/enforced shots on goal he could be as good.

I haven't. I don't even think he's ever crossed a ball and the one time he did it somehow ended up in the back of the net.

Right now Andros is just a naturally talented guy without any of the intangible qualities that actually make Sterling a top class player - he could be improved I am sure if he is taught to get his head up and increase his thought process instead of playing off instinct like the big boy on the play ground who wants to be a one man team but in reality while he's got lots of talent and potential it's an uphill battle to attempt to make him a player of Sterling's quality
