We should be in for Bony.. £19 million buyout apparently, It's a no brainer!
We should sell 6-7 squad players and buy quality in Schneirderlin, Bony, Konoplyanka and De Bruyne for example.

Schneiderlin - £24, Bony £19 and De Bruyne £20 equals £63 million
Paulinho - £8, Townsend £12, Dembele - £12, Soldado £10, Chiriches, £7, Naughton £6 = £55 million

How hard can this be, We would be genuine Top 4 contenders but Levy and Baldini are stubborn.
But not as easy as writing it mate.
There's other teams interested. Then the fee must be agreed, then wages...etc...
We may want a player but does that player want to be with us?
IMO we only need 3 players (Morgan and Jay being MoPo's target) in January and personally I wouldn't sell Dembele or Naughton in January.

I think our Club biggest problem isnt the scouting, the players or even the transfer strategy

Our biggest problem is the expectation. We seem to refuse to accept that the team can be in transition . We want immediate results. Look at AVB ..sack after 1 year with a brand new team. Poch getting a lot of flak now for the same reason. Some how the supporters are unable to accept that it takes time for a team to gel and perform or get use to a new boss' idea

No matter how good our scouting is, if the players are not given time it would be hard for them to blossom. Bale was almost sold. Modric was getting stick for ages

I think once we come to terms that we are no longer one of the elites and are able to accept we are one of the chasing bunch, all our plans might actually have time to come to fruitation

I wish I could agree with you, but Southampton in particular are proving otherwise. They're proving that if you have a clear cut plan, and properly address it with everyone on board, you're fully capable of achieving success. We've shockingly avoided addressing needs for the sake of prioritizing foreign young prospects, and the fanbase has indeed gone overblown with the negativity shown towards them, so it's only expected with such a conundrum of mistakes that the players collapse so quickly when the shit hits the fan.

So the way out of this is a) adjusting/improving mentality (Poch seems to be working on this), b) recognizing needs and addressing them appropriately. We don't even have to spend big (as Saints are again proving), you just have to correctly identify your needs, look for options suitable to the way you want to play, and look for realistic options. It should never have been this twisted and clusterfucked with such an unbalanced squad of players, but fortunately we have the resources to fix this.

Great post ! Most of the reactions of Spurs are childish.

That is a clear vote of confidence buried in the general garbage.
Shouldn't be long now then....
Until another sacking, another search for the next big thing who'll have 4 or 5 months before they start getting stick?

It's crazy that we've been saying on here for years and years that our scouting is awful and needs improvingyet they are only now talking about improving it.

I suppose at least they are thinking about doing it. If the article is true of course.

Fair enough. I still hold hope for the 7 signings (maybe except Chiriches and Paulinho probably has to leave because he's been scapegoated and hated by fans) so I don't get too involved with the Baldini Out stuff.

I'm not saying he should be sacked. His record previously is impressive, but the transfer policy of Summer 2013 was insane.

I don't blame Baldini too much cos over the years our pursuit of players has remained constant whoever is in charge, under how many coaches were we chasing Damiao? Who couldn't even make the Brazil squad for the WC when their crop of strikers is the worst in my lifetime. Soldado we were chasing before Baldini came in and we ITK from Trix about Levy's list of buy out clauses and expiring contracts.

I think part of the biggest problem is Levy just see's players as value and stats rather than the individual attributes and personality they bring, he's playing real life FM IMHO. Remember the Kaboul 'I'm not a cow' comments?

Southampton have the best scouting system in the premiership if not the whole of Europe, never ending production line of incredible talents, we should get Poch to have a word in the Saints scouts ears and tempt them to spurs on triple their current wages

I agree with Southampton at a local youth level, then there's Wigan with their success in finding foreign talent for peanuts.

How so?

They get a lot of their youngsters from their large catchment area, being the biggest of the local clubs including Bournemouth and now that Portsmouth are a joke, and didn't Koeman manage Pelle at Feyenoord? I think you can get caught up a bit in the whole 'Southampton are a lesson to us all' hulabaloo.

It's not awful. Some of the players we've managed to sign is staggering.

Saints have found the likes of Bale, Walcott, Chambers, Shaw, Ox to name but a tiny handful over recent years

How many of our home grown talents have gone on to be huge successes? Judas and King thats about it

Saints scouts, catchment area or not, are amazing spotters of talent

Surely we have a larger catchment area?

Veljokivic, Bentaleb, Ceballos and Coulibaly might sound like they're from London, but they're not

Nah but we're competing with umpteen other clubs, if kids don't like the cut of our jib, they go to the Goons, Chavs, Spam, Palace, Charlton, Millwall, QPR etc etc amen.

If you're on the south coast and don't really fancy it at SCBC then you get on the first boat to the Isle of Wight?

What I meant is they have more of a pull over local talent than we do if you get me (maybe we have more chance now with the monster of a training ground), seeing as they are the only local top division club. Jury is out for me on some of their signings, worryingly the ones that Poch made when he was there.

Foreign isn't always best my man.

This is what I'm talking about though, their scouts don't necessarily have to be amazing spotters of talent, all those players when they are kids are faced with the prospect of going to Southampton, Portsmouth or Bournemouth? Who would you pick given the choice?

You sell your prized asset for mega amounts, which I understand. Why then by 8 players?
We've done it and Liverpool have done it.

When you look at this in the cold light of day, where is the logic? At the time I thought OK it 'could' be disruptive, even old Arsen said it.

I
believe Liverpool and ourselves have confined the multibyte transfer window to the WPB and history.

Typical Tottenham.
