Dembele is such an odd one. He can win the ball and look like Messi one minute, then the next he will dribble like Adebayor. Plays his football like a dog with a toy.

Dembele has tried doing his little cut back a few times and has slowed it down. That was one Lamela fuck up, Dembele hardly putting a tackle in, at least Lamela is and is winning balls back quite a few times.

Dembele is helping us retain the ball in their half, that's why we're camped in there.

Astonishing how some think Lamela has been more effective than Dembele.

Are you serious? Again, Lamela hasn't been good going forward but he has as always, been very good defensively and constantly trying to win the ball back.

Say whatever you want about his attacking play but to suggest Lamela hasn't been 'trying' is nonsense.

He has been trying too hard. He always wants to win the game everytime he recieves the ball.

Lamela is over rated on here, he is not dangerous to the opposition, can't go past a player and isn't creating anything. Everyone is just going on about his pressing. Is pressing what we bought him for?

You do know pochs whole philiosphy is built on pressing yes?

Don't understand what Lamela did or Dembele didn't do for people to call for Dembele to be subbed instead of Lamela. Lamela has offered nothing today. He may be more industrious, but we aren't lacking industry we're lacking quality.

Lamela's been quiet but he's got bags of ability and is very capable of creating or scoring a goal. Dembele isn't a goal threat and hangs onto the ball for way too long.

It's easier to fit Chadli in when Dembele comes off. With Eriksen/Dembele/Chadli you'll have at least 2 of 3 in wrong positions or on wrong sides. Both Lamela and Moussa have been underwhelming, Lamela probably more so but he makes the jigsaw easier if he stays on. IMO.

A travesty that we are 1-0 down. We've played well, had all the game, and pressed and played at tempo. Unfortunately not precision and composure in the final third.

I have to say though that I think we lack someone who can cause them problems in the final third - ie. play direct and scare them. I always try and point this out, but this is the problem with playing three playmakers in behind the striker, you need a bit of pace and someone more direct. Chadli has to come on at some point to see if he can offer this, for Dembele or Lamela.

Its not really happening for Kane or Eriksen either today, and if we are to get something from this then you'd imagine one of these two needs to get their act together with the ball at their feet.

Lets keep up the energy and workrate though.

Arsenal are keeping a very close eye on them, which is why i think the space opened up so much for Rose.

Walker needs to attack Monreal more, and try and get him off. Or Lamela even. What frustrates me about him is he appears to easy to defend against. You never see him turn the defender yet you would have thght this would be easy with his physique.

Really been impressed with our tenacity today, like you said, just need that right decision in the final third. Example was Kane's early shot with Eriksen on the overlap. Not criticising Kane with the form he is in, but laying off to Eriksen may have been the better option.

Certainly not having bad games, just I think the bit of real quality isn't there in the final third so far. We've had opportunities.

Opportunites yes but no real clear cut ones. Everything happening outside the box.

Huh? He was awful in the 1st 20 mins, he's grown into the game a bit more but his passing is still meh. Bentaleb on the other hand has played very well, really composed in possession. Lamela has been MIA, Eriksen restricted to corners/free kicks, and Dembele is killing our attacking play with the same old 'lets take an extra 10 touches instead of passing or shooting'.
Awful? Really? At no point in that half has Mason been awful.

It's a funny old fucking game isn't it. That was the best 45 minutes of football we've played this season. We've played at a furious tempo with and without the ball, got ourselves into several great positions, thoroughly dominated every aspect of the game, haven't allowed them any oxygen, yet find ourselves down to an offside miss kicked fluke. We have got behind their defence numerous times, but have to be more composed when we get there. Kane should have played Eriksen in, Rose has wasted three great positions and Walker had time and space but as ever hits the first man.

Our pressing has been fucking superb, and this is what I've been saying for months about how to get at bus-parkers - which is what Arsenal are today - you set about them before they can get set and you can get at them before they are set.

Mason is a real enigma. He's contributing enormously, but at vital moments his composure just lets him down. A poor final pass at key times or a rash challenge, but shit loads of good work too.

Everyone has had a great half, worked their nuts off, been positive and progressive and tenacious. No passengers, just need someone to provide that moment of quality when it matters, or a slice of luck.

He really isn't and is just passing backwards. He is offering nothing defensively. Lamela is. Like I have said, both been shit, but for me Dembele just edges the shittyness.

You're better than that comment, MP

I spend a lot of time thinking how good he could be if he could use his right foot. I don't understand how someone can be so good with one foot and so bad with the other!

Won tackles and putting in a decent shift defensively. Dembele isn't. However, both been shit up top.

Lamela has a responsibility to defend and help out his fullback. When Eriksen plays in the pocket is he expected to put in a defensive shift? No. I like Lamela, but the blind faith does my head in. He offer's us next to nothing in creativity, which is his primary job.

We are gonna be so good next season.

This shit is coming together.

If we can get a goal early doors this half I think we will trash them.
Agreed - there's something unusual about this Spurs side. It really feels like it's heading somewhere. Haven't felt like this since the days of Jol and even then it wasn't as organic.
