At the end of the day, if it gets to the stage where we are still losing and want to win the game, Lamela is more attacking than Dembele, so it makes sense to take Dembele off.

It's a funny old fucking game isn't it. That was the best 45 minutes of football we've played this season. We've played at a furious tempo with and without the ball, got ourselves into several great positions, thoroughly dominated every aspect of the game, haven't allowed them any oxygen, yet find ourselves down to an offside miss kicked fluke. We have got behind their defence numerous times, but have to be more composed when we get there. Kane should have played Eriksen in, Rose has wasted three great positions and Walker had time and space but as ever hits the first man.

Our pressing has been fucking superb, and this is what I've been saying for months about how to get at bus-parkers - which is what Arsenal are today - you set about them before they can get set and you can get at them before they are set.

Mason is a real enigma. He's contributing enormously, but at vital moments his composure just lets him down. A poor final pass at key times or a rash challenge, but shit loads of good work too.

Everyone has had a great half, worked their nuts off, been positive and progressive and tenacious. No passengers, just need someone to provide that moment of quality when it matters, or a slice of luck.

Absolutely spot on. Great post.

Dembele has been good but arsenal got him worked out imo, they keep showing him to his right foot which leads to him going backwards

I dunno, the weird thing about Erik is he's a tiger without the ball, but a fluffy cuddly kitten with it.

Can't see sny improvement in all honesty in the same way as Mason, Kane and Bentaleb. Perhaps it's one step too far for him at this level.

Opportunites yes but no real clear cut ones. Everything happening outside the box.

I agree, but that's because we don't really have anyone stretching them. Kane is pulling wide but not in behind, and the only one who has given them something to think about really in this aspect is Rose. Its why Chadli needs to come on and look to run in behind.

I haven't been that impressed with Dembele. This is the deepest I've ever seen Arsenal sit in many years, but they're commiting 7 or so players forwards on every counter. When we win the ball back Dembele is too slow. He's done the Scott Parker pirouette on a few occasions when Kane and Eriksen have found space, that gives Arsenal time to put 10 men behind the ball and re-organise again. Lamela hasn't been great for me either. Apart from that we've played well. I'd like to see Chadli feature at some point.

Wenger has always been stubborn and not changed his game much through the years, but they have a game plan today. The only real time they've worked it they scored. That goal was easily preventable and nobody busted a gut to get back. Last season we got sloppy with Rosicky's goal early on too and lived to regret it. I think Pochettino will be fuming about that as it doesn't reflect our play

Same old problems, no width, poor passing and decision making in the final third. All the possession under the sun and about as creative as brick.

Lamela has a responsibility to defend and help out his fullback. When Eriksen plays in the pocket is he expected to put in a defensive shift? No. I like Lamela, but the blind faith does my head in. He offer's us next to nothing in creativity, which is his primary job.
No blind faith here. I like him too and admit he has been shit attacking. And yes, Eriksen (even when played in middle) has been criticised for not helping at the back when he doesn't.

Also, Lamela has had Cazorla in his pocket all game, I believe he's stripped him of the ball 2 or 3 times.

It's great that we're playing well - am just not sure we've got enough to break them down

Would like to see Chadli on and if we can get an early goal in this half I'd back us to get more.

Am feeling pessimistic at the moment though...

True, and he's just in general not attacking space when he's afforded it. Making it very easy for Arsenal to contain him. He did well initially to play into space to compensate, and if he's to stay on he needs to get back to that if he's to be effective.

Chadli for Dembele please. Behind Kane initially as im not sure whether Dembeles physicality is actually a reason for them not knocking it about

Chadli is going to come on at some point don't you worry.
We need to tire them out more before delivering that last punch for 2-1 win.
