I guess I'll have to watch a replay because from my vantage point which was at pitch level Eriksen was by far our best player. Other positives were Dier and Rose defensively, Bentaleb and just how scared they were of Kane.

Chadli and Townsend were dreadful.

Bents looked great today I thought, mason dos well also. Unlike a lot on here I thought we did alright today against a stinker of a team that got a bit of luck. I would have started Dembele too.

Jose trumped Poch in the tactics stakes.

We were mismatched from the start and Mourinho knew he could surrender possession and we would do fuck all with it.

We need a big investment in our first team quality if we are properly going to be a force.

Also Poch needs to learn from this, needs to be more fleixble

Funnily I actually thought Soldado offered quite a bit compared to others with just a few minutes on the pitch, although thats not saying much.
Soldado did fine today. The problem is that most of the time Pochettino plays Kane behind him when Soldado should be the one playing in the AM trio. The way Poch does it suits neither player and is really poor management considering how often he does it. Bobby put some great crosses into the box today.

Failure to get the better of Ivanovic doesn't make you Stoke-level. Ivanovic has been consistently outstanding this season; crazy strength/stamina I rarely see him skinned in PL.
The evaluation of Chadli is not based on one match but the last few weeks. He looks back to last season's form and has been wildly inconsistent anyways.

Agree generally. Firstly what is 'Stoke level'? I find this categorising of players generally nonsense - most of the time players don't need to be outstanding; they just need to fit the system well.

Agree about Ivanovic. But then again, I just think Chadli made some poor decisions in the attacking third. He hasn't been like that for the whole season but recently his play in attacking areas hasn't been up to what I would have expected.

Bentaleb the best player for us. Mason so average and always is tbf. Chadli flattered to deceive, eriksen disappeared 2nd half. We were weak. We got beat but we all knew that was coming. We aren't that good let's be honest , if we are atartui g with Townsend and mason in our side we must be average !!!? Also Erik lamela is painful! When he cane on he was embarrasing ? Everyone around me laughing !!!

We've had a big investment. It worked out really badly for us. I'd much rather we gave some of the young players that have broken through (Bentaleb, Mason, Dier) time to settle and look to bring through others. The last thing we need is another massive squad overhaul to lead to a further 'transition season'.

My above post was related to his performance this game alone.
From what I have seen he was able to receive the ball under Ivanovic pressure. He did nothing with it. But that's already ok in my books. There are only a handful of players who can.
As for his recent form it's hard to say for me; the team hasnt done well since Arsenal and he hasn't featured all the time either.

thought we played pretty well, apart from Townsend, who barely touched the ball. But the truth is we just have few options until we bring in some new players, and that shows in the decision to bring on Dembele first off the bench. I love Dembele but he isnt going to create that many chances.

I dont know about recent games. All i know is that in this game he was up against someone better than him; then chances are you would make bad decisions; not because you aren't thinking, just because you can't execute.

The one thing that we may/could have done was to play Towsend there instead and hope that his pace would draw a yellow card early and so he would get less tight; but that assumes Townsend could actually get the ball. Chance is low.

I think Bentalab had a good game but it also shows he lacked an edge in his game.

We all know he has good feet and passing range. Moreover Chelsea didn't pressure him; Fabregas was AM this game and spent most of his time covering Zouma to prevent Kane from running at the CBs. He had time and space to do his job, which he duly did. Problem chelsea nullified our main threat and Bent wasn't able to step up and make the difference; he doesn't have the tools.

So i wont blame him as he did perform but at the same time it makes me think if he had that long shot or acceleration to get closer to the box/into the box..that would have made all the difference.

Your a disgrace, I genuinely despise so called fans like you.
I suspect everyone round you is a failed pro too, quite frankly you and your pals deserve each other.

Lloris - Couldn't be faulted for either of the goals. Great save from Fabregas overhead kick. Not much else to do = 6
Walker - Don't know why he's getting stick. Good in first half. Played with injury and still not too bad, in second. Horrible deflection for second goal, not his fault = 6.5
Dier - Again, why the stick? Stood up well to Costa's (hardly suprising) bully-boy tactics. Got a yellow (a little harshly, IMO) and had to play on that for rest of game = 6.5
Vertonghen - Not his best performance = 6
Rose - Always liked Rose. He's tenacious, feisty and adds to our attacking game. A bit unlucky going forward and nothing seemed to quite fall for him (as with most of our team) = 6.5
Mason - Helped boss midfield in first half. Never let them settle. Faded in second half = 6.5
Bentaleb - Everywhere. Relentless. Focused. Add quality to that mix = 8.5 MoM
Townsend - Looked like a good call, playing him, to begin with. They looked scared of his pace but did nothing after, just drifted in and out with no real impact = 5
Eriksen - Lively start and end to match. Patchy in middle. Unlucky with free-kick - and them's the apples, things fell to Chelsea they didn't fall to us = 6.5
Chadli - Sadly not looked remotely the same since his bereavement. Always supported Chadli, and don't get the reaction to today like he's always been dreadful - he was one of our better players in first half of season. That said, would have preferred Dembélé to start behind Kane today and Eriksen on right (no room for sentiment, I'm afraid) - and not making it up after the event, otherwise why would I have had him down for first goal-scorer on my slip. Below par, again. Don't now what the hell he was doing for their free-kick goal = 4.5
Kane - Worked hard but Chavs did a number on him today. Started finding space in the last 20 minutes = 6.5

Subs:
Dembele - okay. Should have started = 6.5
Lamela - Didn't have much time to affect things. Looked to get stuck in and get the midfield passing moving again. Still over-runs ball, though = 6
Soldado - Genuinely could have given us a life-line. Pity he didn't get on 5 - 10 minutes sooner = 6

Team - decent team effort, actually, and probably better than individual displays. Never stopped trying to get into it. Marred by a couple of poor moments and by poor decision making in final third = 6.5

Pochettino - Don't normally go in for criticising manager/head coach over team selection but really thought he should (and would) play Dembélé behind Kane. Personally, and I suspect this will be a little less popular, but I would have started with Lamela, too, as he adds to our midfield passing game, presses better and defends better than the alternatives. Still, he obviously got the lads up for it, and we looked fresher than them despite playing on Thursday, and two games since they last played, and we actually managed to look fresher than them, if with less nous and, FFS, less luck. Hopefully the first of many = 6.5

Referee and assistants (particularly that baldy **** on our right) - oh, f'off, Mourinho's antics clearly got to them. Costa started on three players in quick succession, Rose was fouled by Ramirez and Cahill in quick succession, they were constantly niggling, pushing, pulling, Terry (the ****) walked behind Rose and stuck his elbow in his back in the build-up to a dead ball, Willian did a sneaky little pull-back (that I have seen players, particularly Eriksen, booked for) and we had a penalty appeal completely ignored for a handball where their player had 1 billion times more chance of getting his arm outta the way than the Vertonghen one Mourinho went on and on about at the Lane. And who got the first yellow - yeah, you guessed it, Dier (looked to me like Costa bought it a bit). And every time I see Ramirez, especially against us, I am left wandering how the hell he doesn't get about 7 yellow cards per game (obviously, would be sent off after 2, but y'know what I mean) = 4
