Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Ltd is just the club. It will not own the stadium. The stadium will be owned by one of the satellite companies that are under ENIC's umbrella, which is ultimately under Tavistock

Not sure this is true. There will be some financial shenanigans but when ENIC sell the club the stadium will be part and parcel of that sale. The Ron Noades experiment tells us the foolishness (and ultimately financial damage) of creating clubs with no right over or ownership of a stadium.

DL/JL would love to do it as you say, but I suspect ultimately the club and stadium will be more than just two separate entities under Tavistock. They will eventually be sold together.

To add to the speculation on Trix's info on a 'bit of north of 15 million' whored by Dovahkin;
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trix on COYS in response to:

(POSTED BY ANOTHER MEMBER-''it would make sense to start with a bid of about £18 million, they will want £25 million imo but we may possibly be able to meet them halfway.'')

TRIX said: 'You couldn't be closer if you tried Nick. ;)'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It would seem we have a plan, even if it is one of saving a few million in the process- although that isn't exactly bad practice imo. Seems we believe we can get him for 21/22 million.

Exactly, it's the end of May. Levy is hardly going to go balls deep straight away is he. Would hardly be the best negotiating if you go in with a high offer before the window has even opened.

Maybe not start high, but also maybe not save your best offer for late August.

Fannying about with low ball offers is ridiculous when he's a highly in demand player. Southampton are like us, we have a price and we stick to it... they've proven with Lallana, Chambers and Lovren that they're not going to go 'ok Levy, we'll give u a £3m discount on our best and most sought after player'...

It'll either work or it won't, and we'll either get MS or we won't. Life (and the club) will continue...

I don't know... Last summer they sold so many players, they could afford to be stubborn on individual pricing. But if you are only selling 1 player, 23M might not sound like a bad idea. Also it will depend on how much money they receive right away etc. etc.

The Tottenham way is to spend weeks if not months penny pinching, ultimately missing out on the player and then signing some unheard of or crappy third rater. If we've sales lined up and likely to break even, just pay the asking price or offer £1-2m under it... not £7m under. Pay the price or move on... as the longer we amble about, the higher chance our plans b and c will be snapped up by someone else.

Playing hardball works with clubs in financial trouble... like when we stole Lloris off Lyon lol. Whereas with Southampton, they don't need to sell and will struggle to find a decent replacement. Look at our reported alternatives... Kramer (already said he wants to go back to Leverkusen) and Imbula (highly sought after and price quoted to Chelsea and alike is in the region of £20-25m). Cheaper alternatives like Claisie are a big risk.

That's another good point. They might not think he is such a big risk. If they can make a huge profit and bring onboard a player they believe is more or less a decent replacement... Koeman knows Clasie. My point is, Saints might have just enough incentives to be interested in 22-23M. Remember, Scheiderlin wants a move. Anyway, I'll stop this specific dialogue, I'm already trespassing on the boundaries of this thread.

For some reason this one journo in italy is adamant that we have agreed the deal completely for Lavezzi :D

Got to admire his persistence

But why are you complaining when you know this is the approach taken by the club? They won't be changing any time soon because the policy doesn't significantly harm the club from a playing standpoint and certainly benefits it from a financial one.

Exactly, don't think we will get shneiderlin as the ship has sailed, arsenal will get him as they can't rely on coquelin all season and will fancy a tilt at the title next year, we will fanny about with this chase and when we finally lose out all other options will either be gone or their clubs won't sell late on on the window !

Alessio Alaimo? Lavezzi has an Italian agent, and this agent and Alaimo have joined up in linking Lavezzi to clubs earlier in Lavezzi's career. In much the same way, linking a player to Spurs seems to be the go-to way for securing a move.

It serves purpose, The agent gets their players name out there, The media fills some space in their publication and the club gets to appear to be active in improving the squad to fulfill the fans appetite for new fresh signings.

rinse and repeat

Don't like the suggestion by some on here that we can't trust football agents or sports journalists to speak the truth. I'll be taking everything they say as gospel this transfer window.

I'm no suggesting I'm surprised about how this works. But why is Spurs so singularly attractive foundation for a false story? Regardless, I trust JJ on this one. I'll let you guys know if I see reports from Italian journos who might actually be reporting with real substance.
