Lamela has the drive and flair to be everything Townsend isnt.

He will be a great asset as Poch brings in more players suitable to his style

Strange 'WTF' above @Sandro30 , i was just being friendly.

Anyways if anything, the news shows that hopefully (I stress hopefully) the upper echelons are taking instruction from the manager on how he wants his squad shaped and the personnel he wants to keep/ sell.

Lamela's potential ceiling for quality is higher than anyone in the squad.

Selling him and seeing him grow into a top player elsewhere would be super dumb.

He's very short - 5'11".

Bob Wilson was saying the other day that modern goalkeepers can't really excel beneath 6'2", and 6'3" is seen as the optimum.

Micheal Vorm is very short he cant be over 5:11

There's 6 GKs in the academy (as well as the 3 senior ones) - Archer, McGee, Miles, Voss, Glover and McDermott.

Archer has been out-on-loan this season, while McGee and Miles made EL benches (oddly one match (Asteras away) both were on the bench

I think McGee might become our #3 next season, with Archer being sold and Miles released.

I think Miles wil go on loan and Mcgee will be 3rd choice if he does not go on loan next year, Miles and Mgcee seem to be the only kids who are with the first team.

You don't watch football do you millsey?

Not the place to discuss this, but 3 good recent games do not yet make up for the turgid football he has produced over the past 2 seasons. He has so far been a disastrous signing. His recent form has done enough to merit one more season, but to be honest it will have to be a drastic turnaround to convince me.

I remember having the same conversations on here last year about Soldado, about how he was turning it around and how next season would be his year.

Would a press rumoured £25m from Juve be big enough to get Lamela in Levy's eyes?

He's 1.83cm which is just over 6 ft

he is def not over 6ft I have stood beside him and talked to him I am 1:80 and I think we are the same height he is not and inch taller than me. When you see Miles and Mcgee they are both tall Mcgee esp and Loris is prob 6:1. the only two players you think are smaller than you expect when you meet them are Robbie S and Vorm.

Lloris is 6' 2'' apparently.

Loving the lamela info. Every time I see him he works his knackers off and always looks to have the intelligence but no one else works with him except kane.

Are you referring to the "pet" situation discussed in his thread?

I have no read much of this thread (not had time ) so not sure what you mean with "pet" but my guess is that 3rd part ownership thing, pressure his club to stay etc...
I have a feeling there's something murky lurking somewhere...

Trix on Coys:

(On Lamela)

1) Would take a big bid to get him mate
smiley20.gif

2) Very unlikely he will be leaving.

3) He is the standout player in training every week, and is starting to transfer that to match days. I think it would need to be a very big offer to convince us to sell. I'd put him in the same category as Rose and Nabil as far as our intentions of selling are concerned. On that note Darren Lewis's piece in the Mirror is complete horse shit aswell.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I believe the Mirror piece being referred to is the one about Danny Rose being off to City if there is a 15million bid and Lamela being likely to leave for Italy...
Wait a second, I thought Townsend was the best according to a few pages ago....

Just a shame Lamela is so slow. If he had at least a tiny change of pace his tricks would actually allow him to get away from people. But as it is he beat someone with a trick and then they just amble back and take the ball from him. I think we / he need to accept he just isn't a player who can dribble past people. Every time he tries it he loses the ball.
