Wish people would stop saying Pritchard is ready to play for us next season. The fact is he has only played SEVEN MINS of Prem football. Our own coaching staff probably don't know if he's ready which is why he'll be assessed throughout Pre-Season. If they believe he's ready I'm sure he'll be integrated into the first team squad. If not then a loan to another Prem team would be brilliant!
Fuckin optimistic and hopeful people make this place so unbearable.

With Tims interest got a feeling he wont commit with us or if he does will ask for stupid money

His agent might push for a bit more money. But i'd doubt he'd want to go to birmingham for a possible relegation battle when he can battle for cl with us.
I'm not saying he'll start but he's not guaranteed that at villa either.

He's ready for his chance, breeze. I think that's the point. He's ready for a shot; he deserves a shot. Imo anyway.

We really have very little to lose by implementing a stronger youth element in the early stages of our Europa League and Carling Cup campaigns.

I work with a Brentford season ticket holder and here are some of the highlights from our conversation.

"Big time Charlie"
"Thinks he's already made it because he plays for Tottenham"
"Doesn't track back"
"Lazy"
"Has real talent and promise however he doesn't show it enough or consistently"

If he is in the first team next year he is in for a rude awakening, I don't see Poch putting up with this.

I am a believer we it comes to Pritchard. :)

Ps. Eriksen should play in the middle as he is our best midfielder (y)

It's not a question of whether they are 'ready'. Its whether you think people like Pritchard (and others, like Fredericks and Veljkovic) deserve a chance based on what you have seen of them, what they have shown so far and whether they can bring qualities to the squad that is already missing, and whether squad places/opportunities should go to these players rather than buying in even more players.

You never know if any player is ready, its if you believe they deserve to be given a shot.

It's not just that though.

If our staff don't think Pritchard is quite good enough for a regular starting spot (in comparison with others in the squad) and only gets sporadic appearances and substitutions, then it would be beneficial to both us and him if we put him on a 6 month loan where he plays 80% of games for a PL club? By January he could then be ready and acclimatised to a new league and in a position to come and improve us?

It's hypothetical obviously as he could be that player now, alternatively he could be a million miles away. But its a decision that should be taken in the next couple of months. I am excited by his potential and what i've seen his year- I have no idea if that will translate to a Prem setting.

It is not negative or against our academy to not declare that Pritchard is ready to set the prem alight based on a year in the Championship, nor is it a negative to suggest a loan where he plays more football in the Prem and aids his development is the way forward.

I just don't see the problem in saying; let Poch and his staff have pre season to assess the likes of pritchad and Alli before declaring the best way forward for them. Alex pritchard may 'deserve' a chance based on this season, but that isn't definitely the right way to proceed if we feel that we and him could benefit more from a different route.

So we all believe because he's played some brilliant football in the Championship. He now deserves his chance to show Poch what he can do throughout pre season. If he does well then I'm sure he'll be part of our squad going into next season. If Poch believes he need some more playing time with another Prem team then a loan deal would be great. Either way we don't know. Yet some people are adamant he's our answer to losing VDV. (I hope he is).

He'll get game time here, and he's perfect for Pochettino's system, so what is the point in loaning him out?

why do you think he is perfect for Pochettino's system btw? Pritchard didnt really track back and work as hard as he would have to under Poch. This is off course easy to work on though.

edit: I would be very happy if Pritch showed during pre season that he is more than ready to play for us. I prefer homegrown signings like Trippier and Ings and promoting youth like we have with Bentaleb and Kane over mediocre foreigners (Kono, Gignac, Thauvin etch). But if a decent side like Villa is willing to develop a player for us then thats also great if we are unsure. This did work out very well for Walker and Rose before him. And chances are Villa would make him an important part of their first team attack.

Its a nice option to have its all.

I think the Brentford fan is on his own there. I haven't seen anything but praise for Pritchard from Brentford fans and he's anything but lazy from what I and others have seen.

There have been other criticisms from fans it seems in his thread.

They are??? I think it's more he's our answer to push Eriksen and have them both duke it out and raise each other's game whilst pritch also learns from Christian.

If he's loaned out then I'm sure he'll hit it off wherever he goes; either way I think it's great we've got another extremely exciting prospect to get worked up about. Not surprising that folks are hungry to see what he can do for us.

Not only that, he was praised sky high on numerous occasions by the Brentford manager.

Levy might disagree as we have sponsors to satisfy. This is the rub in being in it for us.

Anyway, to bring it back to itk it would help if we could really bring in well targeted players - near the top of our list (first choices seem to be evaporating) - to give us as much solidity throughout our squad to help us out with that tourny.

Trippier would be a good start. And eager to hear who tops the list now that MS looks a lost cause.
