We are not a big club on the global stage though, Man Utd are

Go to China, Africa, Thailand, everyone is wearing Utd shirts, they are probably the single biggest sporting brand in the world even if they have under achieved last couple of years

You could add London to that list....o_O

You're right about that of course and we cannot come close to matching them in marketing terms, but as you say, they have been underachieving recently and that is where we should be smelling blood. On the pitch!

I get the "food chain" talk. We are where we are. But Jesus, that doesn't have to stop us striving to join the top table. And selling our best players to (points wise) our nearest rivals will just prolong that gap and we will always be the bridesmaids.

Never forget, Audere est Facere

I want him to stay, I would turn down almost any money for Lloris, but i understand his point of view if he wants to leave, he is not a Spurs fan, he is a hired help, so will not have the sentiment towards us that we do

£33m+ for a keeper would be worth it. Sell and aim for Cech, Handanovic, Valdes, Lopez, Begovic or Navas.

The stadium in theory should have us at the next level, i am not a BSODL but i am prepared to give him time to get this stadium done, we fail post stadium then there is no excuses
We didn't need a stadium for the last 4-5 years... No excuses, getting Saha and Nelson in, we didn't need a bigger stadium for that, we just need to strengthen properly...

Sell Berbatov, get that useless sack of smeg from Manu... There are far to many examples I could point at.

Again, I can't really disagree with you on that. In fact I think you are talking sense about players general lack of sentiment towards a club. But that's not what I was talking about. I'm talking from the fans point of view, and the frustration we feel at constantly coming close to those above us before eventually strengthening them and helping them to keep us at bay. Even from a business sense, success on the field would bring them more money.

If we are a serious rival to Man Ure why are there reports that our number one keeper wants to join them?

because they are a bigger club, pay more, more exposure. We can still rival them on the pitch if this project, hopefully, succeeds.. hopefully...

To me the @goat ITK reads like we are proactively looking to sell Lloris provided there is a huge profit. If Hugo is happy why encourage the carrot of his ambition? Thats the only bit that disturbs me, if he wants to go, thats different and i can accept that.

a certain @greyfox agreed with my post on page 3.... that may interest some of you.. I trust you don't mind me exposing this @greyfox..? .its kind of customary to share such gems..

If we lost Lloris to United for a pile of cash, I wouldn't be too bothered if we brought in a replacement like Begovic. What is more likely is we do nothing and Vorm is our new #1. That I have a problem with.

So not a serious rival. Everton, Southampton, Newcastle and the like are really our rivals. We strive to sit at the top table but really are just the waiters. Waiting for the our players to be cherry picked when they are ripe.

I can live knowing that, but some on here live in fantasy land comparing us with the perrennial top four. I truly feel sorry for them.

I think you are reading to much into the goats cheese. I would be ridiculously surprised if we are actively seeking offers. MAYBE we are actively trying to force possible stake holder to declare their intentions. But that would be it.

It's almost a game for Levy. Poker, i mean not a single response from the club over the reports about Lloris.

With coaches and scouting experts joining us by the handful isn't it a pity that our PR department communicates in braile.

I disagree. Respectfully we may not have the overall punching power but we do have clubs like Atletico as examples of what can be done

And Juventus. Their biggest signing for years was morata at £14M and their wage bill is £10M PA less than ours.

Just shows what a touch of research into signings can do.

Clubs such as Ajax and Porto and others have demonstrated very well what can be done as selling clubs. Even the scum and the scousers have been forced into it. Why do we think we are above this? Here's a few players the scousers have sold recently for example. Could be argued they're as important to them, or more so than ours, so why should we be immune?

Mascarano, Alonso, Torres, Suarez, Arbeloa just for starters

If So'ton can refuse offers for MS surely we can also refuse for Lloris.
Unless it's an exorbitant fee...keep Monsieur Lloris.

The managers captain was Kaboul....
I thought the manager left the players to decide on the captain and they came up with Kaboul? And after that turned sour the manager chose Lloris whom he may have to sell now.

But on the pitch?? 4th place, 5th place. It's not like the carrick, berbatov days of ole. Lloris should be made to stay. End of. THFC need to grow a pair and stop this cycle

What cycle? Every club bar a very few lose their best players regularly. Even though Dortmund won league titles and got the champs league final they are still pretty much a feeder club for bayern. Arsenal have until very very recently had their best players picked off by Barcelona and Man City. Liverpool finished second but still couldn't stop Suarez leaving. Man U lost Ronaldo to Madrid and probably De Gea too.

You need to grow a pair and accept the reality of the football business.
