To be fair I won't have a go too much, for all I know you could be just a kid.

Look, we're all entitled to our opinions, I just get fed up with the knee jerk reactions from fans because I think it filters through to the players in the end.

That's big of you. Enjoy the forum, son.

The problem is we have a severe lack of pace. Absolutely no one to attack at defenders. Instead its the cumbersome pass sideways approach which by then allows the opposing defence to re-group.

We need a Lennon-type player fast. Not saying Lennon but someone who plays with that kind of pace and attacks defenders.

Absolutely ridiculous the amount of people who want Bentaleb dropped after one, albeit awful, performance in the first game of the season.

Alli or Mason until 'New' in and integrated?
Otherwise looks good for now.

Where'd you put Berahino/N'jie / a German (if miraculously they arrived before the game)?

I like this, have suggested 3-5-2 a couple of times myself (and got strange looks lol).

Do everyone talking about 352 this is kinda effectively what our 4231 with Dier.. IS. It's just a Poch way of doing it.

When we have the ball, Dier drops, and the full backs go up, so it looks like so..

GK
Toby Dier Jan
Walker Bentaleb Davies
Lamela Eriksen
Chadli
Kane
That is effectively what it looks like a lot of time, with rotation between Chadli, Kane, Eriksen, Lamela.. you'll see today Chadli a few times was standing furthest man forward.

This is why I feel it's hard at times to put a formation on ours.. because whilst Poch has it down as 4231 it moulds very much into the above.

Also, so many times today, whilst we were set up like the above, Bentaleb would drop even deeper to pick up the ball (Dier's job) and thus drag Eriksen deeper, and then that then gives us issues backing up Kane when the ball got pushed/pumped up there. But one of the many small issues today I could bang on about and much further detail... maybe one day, but for now, i'm tired and my hands hurt from writing. :ROFLMAO:

I've dropped him from mine purely because of the way I'd like Dier for the size and strength while being attacking and aggressive from the off, and thus the others in midfield to be more attacking than Benta.

Don't you think Bentaleb plus Dier is really meh / slow / defensive the middle of the park? Especially against Stoke at home?

Edit: Or, in an ideal world and one I'd have Bentaleb.. it'd be this setup against Stoke:

Lloris
Walker Toby Jan Rose
Alli Bentaleb Eriksen
Berahino Kane N'jie
And we could just fucking go for it :)

THIS!

Look at Swansea today, then look at us. If we'd had Moreno and Ayew instead of Dembele and Chadli on the wings i think we'd have at least got a draw today. We need to address this ASAP.

Whenever Montero got the ball for Swansea, I felt like something could happen just from the 1 on 1 positions he's got himself in, playing little one two's with Siggy etc, loved it.

Bentaleb to be dropped to the bench for me. Not as punishment for today but just a reminder he has to be bang on it. Looks too relaxed about his position in the side at the moment.

Berahino in to add directness if he signs early in the week. He'll be ready to slot in. Chadli good in the air which may be needed.

I'd like to through Alli in alongside Mason who impressed after coming on today. However can see the argument for Dier also and his aerial ability will help on set pieces. That said stoke are different these days.

This is a good point. It's sad really, as skill should be more important as physical attributes, but an average pacey player can bring more to a side than a less mobile but more talented player (Dembele/Chadli). Don't all need to be rapid but at least one option needed. N'Jie and Berahino would rectify this.

Yet it's ok for everyone to completely dismiss Mason all preseason. When he showed far more all round than Bentaleb in less minutes today.

I don't mind Bentaleb playing but if it's him or Mason currently I know who I'm picking. Bentaleb will be a fixture no doubt but has looked undercooked and complacent in preseason and at OT. A little nudge back on course wouldn't go amiss.

Im contradicting myself here but I'd like to add that we CAN actually play without a lennonesque player BUT not with the kind of play and off-the-ball running (or lack of rather) that we're currently playing.

Lack of pace can be compensated for intelligent off-the-ball running and moving into space but sadly we dont have all 3 attributes in our current play.

Would prefer Trippier to Walker no matter how he did against Utd as I believe with Trippier will get more crosses into the box. We need to be attacking to put the other team under pressure rather than just defend.

Bentaleb is not being dropped after one poor game. This is not the first time his careless passing has directly caused us to concede and proceeding to knock the wind out of us and ultimately losing.

It is a certain kind of mistake, especially on the front foot and under no pressure, that seems to destroy our mentality.

Furthermore, this is at least the second, if not the third time against top 4/5 teams. We cannot let this happen on such a consistent basis. When the goal went in, I sighed with deja vu. Definition of a Spurs conceded goal.

It would be really damning on Pochettino if he didn't notice these as even I can see this. Why he has to be dropped is because he really does not offer any more to the team than Carroll or Mason and he needs to know that his complacency and arrogance has to be cut out.

He's not trying to make through balls or cute passes that leads to this. It, like most other times, was a square ball. Simple for kids to play and he's under no pressure. If you say he's played a bad one, he has, but ask yourself why?

If he's just not that good, fine, we persist, as that is all we have. However he's better than that and thus needs to be dropped. How else would you tackle Complacency?

He needs to take responsibility for the goal and the loss and the disappointment because he did this with his own fucking arrogance. Keep your concentration up for 90 minutes, you got your new contract after your bullshit with your agent, earn it. Players are useless if they cannot perform for the full 90. We cannot afford a luxury player who will fuck up at least once a game and he's far from irreplaceable.

Apparently Dembele made one mistake, dropped for a string of games. So don't play favorites Poch. No one in this team is not droppable.
