This a million times. It's no coincidence that we first nearly broke into the top 4 with Edgar David's and then actually did it with Scott Parker. 2 heart on sleeve natural leaders. This is the type of player we should be looking for to make all the other "exciting" components knit together, young squad huge potential.
Whilst I agree with your point Parker join the summer, well near deadline day after we competed in the cl

We finished 5th last season in the most competitive league in the world.

We lucked into that position thanks to Kane having a one in a million season and Eriksen getting a good few last minute winners, the likes of West Ham and Villa were undeserved wins the way we played last season, and our 5th place was in spite of Poch and because of Kane not because Poch is some genius

not saying I disagree - but who did that job last year when we finished fifth?

No leader as such, but a massive thanks to Hugo and Kane for where we ended up last season. I doubt very much they will repeat those feats, Hugo will probably save us from time to time.

I don't pretend to know the answers, but I hate the way the we can be got at. Other teams can have a real go and we simply can't deal with it.
Apparently we have more pace on the way. I hope more pace up front makes the opposition more cautious. I miss our counter attacks.

Why can't we just give this team a chance? They obviously still figuring it out.

Really? Apart from Alderweireld the starting line-up was made up of players Pochettino has been working with for over a year.

As much as I don't rate Pochettino, I've maintained the view that as long as there are small signs of progress he should be supported. But where is the progress? How long does it take to "figure things out"?

The one saving grace is that Pochettino clearly recognises where our problems lie. N'jie and (hopefully) Berahino won't have any issues getting straight into the starting line-up, which might make us actually look dangerous for a change. A real DM, in my opinion, would be the missing piece of the jigsaw.

Redknapp was probably the last manager that generally got the players he wanted (though thankfully that didn't include Andy Carroll), and we looked like a real team. On one hand I feel bad about criticising Pochettino when he's just trying to work with the unbalanced squad he's been given, but at the same time the football we've played under him has largely been miserably dull.

More than happy to give them a chance. My only point is that in the nearly 20 years I can remember supporting spurs we've had goodness knows how many managers, players, coaches etc yet its like we havent changed at all. Its still the same old weaknesses. It may be that we spurs more often so we highlight it more but no other team have a reputation for being soft like we do. Partly why Fergie didnt bother with teamtalks against us

I want a fist shaking terrier of a central midfielder. An organiser. A nasty bastard who doesn't mind upsetting his team mates if he feels they need their collar grabbed and a kick up the arse if they aren't on top of their games or concentrating.

There is no player in our team like this. Not even one.

And fucking replace these ponderous, slow, cut inside and congest, wingers. We need width and pace - right now we are an extreme dull team.

Just over a week to sort it out...

We need to sign experienced winners but that is not Levy's blueprint right now.

We have signed players like that recently, like Davids and van der Vaart.

Need a few more now, especially in central midfield.

To be honest, I see the next three years about bringing through a squad of talented youngsters, finishing top 6 and maybe a couple of cup runs. Poch's aim is to get our side ready for the new stadium when we can sign world class players.

The OP makes a very good point though, in order for Poch to get is there, we need a leader in the centre of the park, someone who gives everything and screams at everyone - someone who would have shouted to Chadli after the goal "head on you fucking lazy prick" - we need a c**t

Summed up by the scenario yesterday late in the game, we bring on the young, naive, inexperienced (but full of potential) bentaleb into central midfield, Leicester bring on the hugely experienced 83 cap, CL regular Inler.

No experience, no leadership, no guts in this squad. So blindingly obvious to all except poch and levy

And our rivals for fifth place were all perfect ?
