according to that article posted earlier he committed himself to learning German quickly. Hope that's the case with his english lessons.

Are they any other German speakers here except Wimmer? Any of the Belgians perhaps?

Not sure about anyone else but Son hasn't even signed and I'm already fed up with all the shit (and, at times, pretty much racist) jokes about his name, dogs and how Korea sounds like career. I'd expect better at a Jim Davidson gig.
Where the "sensitive" rating?

Come off it mate. A few people making puns about his name, hardly offensive is it? Same with the Korea thing. As for the dog thing I've hardly seen anything in here apart from one chant and although it's a stereo type, it's just one of those things. If their was a Korean football club's forum and they were signing an English player and they were joking about him eating fish and chips I'm sure no-one would give a shit and rightly so.

Racism is obviously a terrible thing but this isn't racist, just a few people having a laugh and throwing some stupid jokes about. Worst than a Jim Davidson gig? Wow. How about instead of turning a molehill into a mountain we celebrate the fact we could be on the edge of signing a good player!? :)

With a name like Son, whatever his nationality, football fanatics were always going to have some fun with it.

Hate how quiet it is today in the media after yesterday's excitement.

Hopefully some more news on the deal later today
I'm kind of on the same page but then let's not forget we first heard of this yesterday (I'm ignoring the really early links). It's only just came to life really so I'm just happy about where it is at the minute. Would love him to be in the squad for Everton but being more realistic I hope he's WHL on Saturday evening

Exactly! I fail to see how a pun and a bit of worldplay on a name can be deemed as racist or offensive

Reading some of the comments on Leverkusen forums, they don't seem that gutted to let him go and pretty delighted with the supposed price they'll be getting. I think a fair few million has been added to his value by commercial opportunities his signing creates, and perhaps a better price to reflect his actual value would be around £15 million.

At £22m, I'd really hope we'd be getting better players than Son.

Seems a lot for someone who doesn't offer much defensively or attacking wise other than being fast and a decent finisher.

Yarmolenko at £14m is far better.

Also, there's a lad at Leicester who would cost far less and is already doing it in the EPL.

Or Jefferson Montero, another good player.

Could always bid £22m for Jay Rodriguez, I'm sure Southampton wouldn't reject that kind of money.
Your personal lack of knowledge of foreign leagues does not make Son a poor signing.
