No deal goes through in 36 hours (the time between us first hearing and announcement) of Son

So whoever comes in, the deal has been worked on for weeks (even if its been put on hold once or twice as better opportunities have been explored)

Is that not kinda the point I was trying to make ? ;)

I genuinely can't see us going for Song.

Crap attitude, Adebayor's best pal, not exactly a hard worker...

I'd be amazed if we were after him.

Unless some preliminary soundings have already been done do not see how we can be bringing someone in from europe unless surplus to needs at existing club. In the past we have done the odd good deal on last day eg VdV and Lloris but i think Poch is more particular in his wants and they will have to fit his system - the different timing of closure for euro window is important.
Thus any incomings will be from PL and the 2 obvious ones are Berahino and Wanamya - but dont think these are doable unless we possibly pay over the odds which though want us to strengthen do not believe we should do.
If its one then think striker to rest Harry is priority.

South America doesn't have windows, so Pato could still happen late Tuesday

We've pretty much never been totally happy with a window since I can remember[/I][/B], so people need to face the facts, that we probably won't get everything we want by Tuesday. There's no way we can accept no centre forward to back up Harry though. It would be criminal, no matter who else can play there at a pinch.

You wern't happy with the magnificent 7? You greedy fuck.

I'll let you in on a secret. No teams fans are satisfied at the end of a transfer window. They will always see a weakness in the team.

A deadline day deal can go through in that time. No?

Not sure that's entirely true. I remember most people being very happy with our squad when we secured Adebayor on loan. We finally looked like we had a balanced side, and for a while it looked like providing our best season in decades.

If a deal has been set up for a player, sometimes it can be left 'on the shelf' but then brought to life and 'done' within hours.

Best example being VDV arrival - 20 minutes before end of TW BBC say the first rumour, confirmed way past end of TW

I don't even mind what level of striker, I'd be happy to take a punt on a championship striker such as Rhodes . We simply need ack up for Kane and someone to push and challenge Kane to keep his hunger and desire up
Why ever not?

That's not necessarily true. If all parties are agreeable and no hitches it can all be done very quick. vdV was done in well under 36 hours, only 2 or 3 hours in fact, also Demsey and Dembele were done from start to finish in less than a day. Martin Jol was steaming about spurs coming in for them on last day of window.

Just to note, Sven Bender has not seen the field in Dortmund's last two (possibly three) games. Still think this is a possibility since he has been high up our list of wanted DM's. Also think it's more plausible than Wanyama. Saints unwilling to sell, Bender game time, possibly cheaper with the strength of the pound)

So you didn't think there was an area of the team that we could have improved on? Goal keeper? Partner for Ledley? RW? Full back?

Anyway this probably belongs in spurs chat. A back up for kane and a great midfielder would be a fantastic tw. Yet by xmas we will be wanting another player to be the missing link.

I think that work had been done on all those deals in advance, they just were not necessarily front of the queue, Managers will not necessarily know progress on all deals - so it may have come as a surprise to Jol that Dembele (or whoever) had moved to being top of the list. The other point is that Spurs (like all clubs has insurance on players - and that wil not be given without a medical (which itself takes a few hours to do), and likewise a player contract will take time to agree, ,so I'm not sure what the minimum time to do a deal is but doubt its actually 2 or 3 hours.

Just my onion you understand
